I've listened to Hardline's version a thousand times and I agree, its awesome - but damn, this is really good - but hey, another kick ass Canadian band.
Both records, the buried treasures of streehart and looking fpr trouble has been released in 1994.
(what a an awesome year with so many unfogettable releases). I like both versions. But i think its Dannys song, because he did write it. Look at the credits on the streetheart sleeve.
Regardless of what some of you tone def retards think, this is the classic and most talented version. Hardlines is sweet as well but this one edges it out.
Okay yes, I should have been a bit more clear. Brunette was hardline before Neal Schon came along. Brunette was the Gioeli brothers before they joined hardline, and they were the creators of hot cherie.
@TwinBlasters wth are you talkin about!Gioeli brothers werent hot cherie creators man!Streetheart was!Hardline past or late 80s early 90s members Joey Gioeli Christopher Maloney Bobby Rock Neal Schon Deen Castronovo Todd Jensen brunette past members:Johnny Gioeli— lead vocals, guitars Joey Gioeli — guitars Christopher Paul — guitars Jay Scott King — bass Darek Thomas Cava— drums and you are talkin abouyt that neal schon joined brunette and then it became hardline! Are serious!!:D
I love hardline's version but the more I listen to Streetheart's I think its becoming my favorite. But then again Steerheart is one of my favorite Canadian bands and they deserve WAY MORE CREDIT then they ever got!!! And I love all their songs ...Long live Canadian rockers!!!!
I just saw Streetheart in concert and OMG, they rocked so hard and they sound better than they ever did if thats possible,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,ROCK ON STREETHEART,,,,,and thanks for the GREAT MUSIC,,,,,and by the time I got to the stand to get a t-shirt they were all gone, my bad, but I got cap and I love it,,,,,,,ONE of the best bands ever!!!!
This version is fuckin' amazing & it's the original WOW!!!could see why HARDLINE covered this BRILLIANT track ,just one of those one of a kind songs.....Gotta love the 80's & it's PRODUCE.....love this post man great work.....
@LosDrahos its not the original the original is by Dany Spanos, Streetheart did a lot of covers; Under my Thumb, Tin Soldier, and Hot Child in the City are a few.
@avalancheviking ...I believe that members of Streetheart originally wrote Hot Cherie and then Danny Spanos recorded his version. Streetheart did do quite a few covers but Hot Cherie is not one of them.
@rkeime1 ...Hardline is a great hard rock band just like Van Halen...or a better word is a great rock band. Hardline is not metal...Black Sabbath, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Metallica are metal.
Jeez, the labelling of genres of music is ridiculous.
But we can agree that rap, hip hop, Lady Gaga, Jonas Bros, Simple Pan, Blink 182 and just about everyhting thing else nowadays can be labelled sh*t!!...lol
i just found out!!! hot cherie is actually a rarity of streetheart's and was released after someone passed away in the band. who knew a rarity could become so popular!!!! also i feel like no matter how many times this song gets covered, it never quite gets the coverage it deserves. promote hot cherie!!
As far as i know there are some good covers of 'hot cherie'. The original Danny Spanos and Steve Thomson, Hardline and Streetheart, and to me, all of them rocks! My all time favourite is Hardline's version
I vote for Danny's Spanos's version of the song.

Who would've guessed there was a version besides Hardline's? This tempo is too fast when you're used to the other.

As for which one is the original - several performing rights organisations list members of Streetheart as composers.
