acahmpag, I am socially picky. Most of the people I know in my real life are just emotionally exhausting. I have a like-hate relationship with twitter. I find it can be useful but I used to read it often and now I don't. I started using twitter to get "I'm live" updates. Some people twitter constantly, so I've found I do better subscribing to some tweeters via rss to separate it out. I also read secrettweet. Twitter needs to add controls so they can make the service more tunable to an individual's needs. But there are other sites that help, like tweetlater and twitterthreads. RSS is king though.

I don't have many, only 3 ideas and they're limited in use.

[1]I use tweetlater d(o)t k0m. Grab tweets from the public stream that contain keywords you specify and it will email you a digest. Also you can schedule tweets for sending later when your target is more likely watching. [2] twitterthreads d(ot] k(0rn) organizes tweets into threads you can sorta follow but it seems it's also arranged chronologically. Still figuring it out. [3] Use an RSS reader to subscribe to the feed for any twitterer

I find it handy for sending info as well as keep up w/my friends. Example- I found an article that concerns pollution in your area. Instead of sending an email, I sent a link to you and you can quickly and easily check it out, or totally ignore it lol. It's not something I would bother sending an email about, but you might be interested in it. The problem I have is people who feel the need to send 75 tweets a day and block out everyone else. They just get unfollowed.

I think maybe it stems from my information overload and wanting to streamline the info I get to what's more important or more entertaining or just relevant to me. But it's free so instead of being upset with the developers I get upset with the users. I know, warped.

the safest way to do secret tweets I think is secrettweet dott c0m. That way you won't accidentally tweet your secrets to everyone. And you subscribe to secrettweet as you would any other twitter channel, but you can RSS that so you don't need to follow on twitter.
