@cholraych Well who exactly made you the authority on who's a negative douchebag and who isn't? Because even idiots like you have an opinion. If you're going to criticise people for having opinions then you might as well delete your YouTube account and stitch your mouth shut. Hell, I have a feeling that you'd be doing us all a favour.
These guys in the video are nothing but negative douche bags, who made them an authority on what makes a movie good and what doesn't? All thoses guys say is how shitty every movie is, get some optimism and stop being such Jaded movie goers.
Can't agree with the praise for 'Blade Runner', beyond the technical aspects. It's less hollow that Scott's 'Legend', but that's not enough to keep an audience engrossed in a story. I do agree with the criticisms of 'Minority Report' 100%.
@Sizzmaster6985 JAWS IS EXPLOAITATION FILM! I'm just sick of Spielberg not devoting himself to cinema the way Kubrick did. When Kubrick made a film, he didn't think about dollar signs, he wanted to make a quality film. Spielberg only cares about money: He's responsible for Transformers! Case closed!
@cinefiles Jaws is a Horror/Thriller film and Jaws, Close Encounters, ET, Indiana Jones 1-4, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan, Catch Me if You Can. These all seem like quality films to me. And those horrible Transformers movies are strictly Bay's fault, that's like saying the Land Before Time was only good because Lucas was involved. I don't mean any offense to you or your friends I was just listing off what you guys seem to bring up when ever you talk about spielberg
@cinefiles The thing is, i think speilberg does devote himself to film, ok not as much as kubrick and i dont think when he directs a movie he cares about dolla signs, when he made schindlers list he refuesed to get paid, he didnt want any money from it. I think he is a talented director. I think the movies hes produced he cares more about dollar signs sure, but not his directed efforts. Now, if you look at Michael Bay, he does care about the bucks, no matter what. Speilberg atleast has talent...
I would just like to say that I have seen every film from Michael Bay, Uwe Boll, Brett Ratner & Roland Emmerich... None of them, I repeat, none of them ever reached the level of Abject FUCK-NESS that Waking Life did. Waking life is the most irritating, pretentious, annoying, un-thought provoking, fucked piece of shit I've ever seen in my life. Take EVERY COPY of this movie, throw them in a space shuttle and launch them into THE FUCKING SUN. Thank You Samuel, for telling the world the truth.
Just bought and saw Screamers. Pretty good movie! A bit lowbudget but i always prefer a good script then an expensive set. Thank you again for showing me the way to a good underrated movie. Greetings from Sweden!
I love the show guys. For the record, I think Minority Report is a pretty good film despite some Speilbergianisms....and Screamers was just ok. Disagree with Mike there. I'm suprised that you guys didn't discuss Impostor which was already released by the time this video was posted. My personal favorite PK Dick film: A Scanner Darkly.
Minority Report did suffer from the lame comedy and plot holes but the ending was still good. If it ended with him going into prison it would just be a downer ending; PKD wasn't about downer endings, he's about double meaning endings. The last part of the film is all his dream while in the prison. It's mentioned that they dream in prison, and the blue tint leaves the film at that point. The ending is his fantasy, not the reality. He is still in prison, he did lose in the end.
I loved Minority Report, it is the best PKD adaptation except for Blade Runner. I sometimes think critics will not like Spielberg just because he is "mainstream." Minority Report is an adaption of the short story, an ADAPTATION, not a replica. So it is a different story.
More Spielberg hate - at least you're consistent. I once remember Mike trying to say Spielberg didn't have much to do with Jaws being a good film, and now he's kicking Saving Pvt Ryan. He's probably going to say Schindler'sLlist was crap next. And Roger Ebert fuck#ng loves Minority Report by the way, but he doesn't know shit about films right? Lots of people - not into snobbish elitism - have, and will, really enjoy Minority Report, so it's kinda selfish to say that it's one they have to avoid.
Some comments on Total Recall.....the end shows it is all a dream. What was the name of the memory program Arnie got implanted with at Recall? That's right....adds a whole new layer don't it?! Plus, look at the director....the whole "happy" ending ain't his style. I Like your show guys, but please pay a little more attention to the films you discuss...pretentious ignorants are no fun.
CORRECTION: BLADE RUNNER was not filmed in Tokyo. Ridley Scott toyed with the idea of filming it in Tokyo. He was obsessed with the look of the city. But it would've cost more money.
Most of the film was shot on the Warner Brothers backlot in Los Angeles. Along with a couple of pick-up shots in London.
I don't actually remember the book being very "noir" actually. Nor does it have such sparse dialogue. I remember it being an awful future, but it had a more 1950's feel with neighbors comparing their electric pets, than it did Techno-cyberpunk-BillyIdol-video-esque.

So after watching these guys reviews and other shit. Here's a list of reasons why I think they hate speilberg
-He's mainstream
-None of his films have rape scenes
-He suggested the PG-13 rating
-His only dark film is Jaws "Cough Schindler's List Cough
-He's made no exploitation movies

I could be wrong but I understand some scenes in Blade Runner were shot at the old LA railway station. Anyone out there know for sure.

Okay, I loved Total Recall, Bladerunner, and A Scanner Darkly.
I think A Scanner Darkly and Bladerunner were the closest to his books(but I havnt read all of his stuff, just few)
But I still loved Total Recall, it was a very entertaining movie (the ending couldve been better)
