I suppose it depends on the company, I doubt it would be ok for a bloke to cry in the company of other blokes, but we watched Marley and Me last night and I almost shed a tear!:)
I saw marley and me on the plane to America, it was labelled comedy. . . THEY LIED! It was pure sad sob story! I held in my tears, but the poor woman next to me was literally bawling!
I have no problem with that kind of Sunday afternoon film, but FFS don't label it comedy! That's just WRONG! lol!
well I'm all for people opening up (and I must admit to having 'watered up' at the odd episode of Dawsons Creek' but I really can't believe one of my videos would bring anyone to tears... unless of course you mean tears of laughter which I would gratefully accept! :)
I think its ok for guys to cry at movies but for some reason i never do lol. I think it's because I kinda know that whatever I'm watching isn't actually real so I don't get that involved. My eyes are more likely to get watery during Crimewatch lol
I once went out with a girl who was clearly just interested in a 6 foot 5, tough rugby type player. I suspect the last thing she would want to see is a man cry. Just as well we are all different.
i guess I'm kinda soppy when it comes to films and allowing my emotions to overtake me. From Bambi through to E.T. Schindlers list, Braveheart, Million dollar baby as quoted above and even the Rocky series. All of them tug at the old heart strings and have induced weeping occasionally from this sensitive Glaswegian male, if that isn't an oxymoron!
watching a film alone does mean you don't have to hold back, but I suspect sometimes the film is a trigger if there are other things going on in your life at the time. Still, the release can feel good whatever the reason.
to be honest I do tend to only pay to see films that have good reviews... although I did pay to see Wolverine hoping the reviews were wrong. They weren't!
I saw Million Dollar Baby on the plane... did Not cry. It did stress me out though. Now, Bridges of Madison County (also Clint Eastwood by the way) I bawled my eyes out. Then again I'm a chick (Why do birds suddenly appear.....)
ahhhhhhhh!

As long as the crying doesn't get too loud and disturb my viewing, sure it's fine to get lost in the emotion whatever sex you are! :D

Excellent! loved the ending.
I believe it makes men real men by showing their emotions and that we all have feelings.

Marley & Me and you just 'almost' shed a tear?! I've not seen it but understand it is supposed to be quite devastating!

Put it this way, Dominika now wants a golden labrador and she doesn't want to call it Fido!:)

logic says it's not real so I know what you mean, but I suppose the best films almost make you forget they are films as you get caught up in them

Nowadays to some people i guess it would be ok for men to cry, due to the continuing feminisation of the male of the species.

Lesley always laughs at me when I get "misty" over movies! Of course mostly it's nothing to do with the film - "I just plucked a nose hair darling"!

with me I normally find there is an awful lot of dust around which gets in my eye, well that's my excuse...

I think it's okay for guys to cry at films. it shows that deep down inside, they are human and sensitive. Emotions shouldn't be viewed as a weakness.
HaleyMary 2 years ago
agreed, but I suspect there is a place and time for most emotions.

nope, nothing to be ashamed off. A release of emotions (for any reason) can be a good thing so perhaps the thing is to embrace it.

Its sexy for a man to cry at a movie, as long as he doesnt over do it.

I try to do that myself but sometimes you end up there and are not prepared.
I don't go to many these days when i can wait and own them cheaper than going to them.
My dad though used to get a cool odd job where he would go to the theathre and count the ppl that went in certain movies.
It was to make sure the distributor wasn't getting fucked, but we could watch anything that was playing for free.
Over the years i think we watched around 600 for free.

Ha! Great to see you guys! We girls tend to love it when guys cry at movies. Shows your sweet side ; )

I cry at films all the time - I think it is not something you should be ashamed of ! (However I did cry at Cool Runnings once)

agreed, although I'm tempted to say I'd draw the line at Cool Runnings but to be honest I haven't seen it so will reserve judgement

you didn't cry at Million Dollar Baby? Can't I suggest you rename you channel 'The Iron Lady'?!?! ;)
21stCenturyCat 2 years ago
lol...no. Maybe it's just a different perspective... female vs male? I don't know. I think I was too busy being shocked.
IXGertXI 2 years ago
Yes, I suppose women kind of like their men to have a sensitive side, as long as you just over-react.
- Though I dunno, I hate end up having a tear from watching brutal war movies like Saving Private Ryan on the first beach scene, but thats about it.
