  • ok back to sutton fosters version

  • The dancing was awsome but the singing, well to put it nicely let me wanting more, or an

  • if this is high school i think you are very good lol

  • she sucks

  • @margeno1 oh Susan, Susan, Susan - it's constructive comments like yours that make youtube the great site that it is.

  • Also may i add that is a very fast, breathy song, with lots of note changes, and rythm changes and she managed extremely well. I think if you are going to be THAT critical over someone, you should be doing it to yourself, find out that maybe you are going wrong somewhere and stop taking it out on people who are giving it their all, no matter how good or bad they are. Give them the credit they deserve for heving the confidence to do what they do x

By the way, this was for mzperformerxoxo :)

  • great set! She's pretty good. Tuning is an issue though. Please don't shout at me! Just saying from experience. It is a show which most high schools are too scared to attempt. I'm going into the come back show this March and I'm nervous about the difficulty of it. But good job I guess. :)

  • can i just say, for a high school production - SHE WAS INCREDIBLE! maybe the singing was pitchy at times but i dont blame her because her dancing was fantastic and her energy was supurb! for a high school production i say well done! my high school did it in 2007 and we ended up doing it as a play with one song because no one could pull off the singing and dancing.

  • intresting..............................

  • Does she have an accent?

  • The choreography drove me absolutely nuts! I feel like you could have made it even more personal. This is a fun song and you didn't look like you were having too much fun. :/

  • @leojrevlis

i think you take some comments to personally. Those who have experience give critical comments that others can learn from and you just snap at them.

  • @Applebutter799 Too personally? Nah.

I snap as needed. A legitimate well-thought-out comment gets the same from me. A stupid or insensitive post gets a rude reply. I generally write back in the same tone as the "commenter." BTW - where in this series of posts have I snapped at anyone? Now, instead of attempting to evaluate me.. what about the clip?

  • @leojrevlis well I think her singing was pretty good, but she overdid the dancing in my opinion, especially close to the end. The ending pose was nice.

Over all it was a good performance, but I think she could have moved around the stage a little more and acted out the words she was singing

  • This is one of my favorite songs in any musical and I do try to find good in a performance, but I'm sorry this young actress did not successfully portray Flammchen in my opinion. I thought the acting was a little campy and the singing was off. And the choreography was over the top and anything but smooth.

  • the singing is fine. she just needs to learn how to support. then she can hit those top notes instead of shouting them because that did sound terrible. what really drove me crazy was the accent and the choreography. its overdone and looks kinda dumb. and the spot operator who cant hold the light still to save their life.

  • @meeshy93 It's Flaemmchen aka Frieda Flamm. But I'm not really sure if that's spelled right

  • nice

  • My God. The set is better than Broadway, a show I unfortunately saw three times.

  • yes it is

  • Yeah, for a high school production it is.

  • its amazing for even a coldge play

  • Every time I play this video, I like it more and more. Katya you're GREAT!!!!!

  • You were great! I saw it on B'Way twice; once with Jane Krakowski (who was not all that), and once with the excellent Lynette Perry (Evelyn Nesbit "Ragtime") Good singing and acting.

  • ummm...the singing wasnt all that good. They acting was ok. But the singing was terriable...sorry. It was flat and u cant belt and u basically talked it and it was totally off key. sorry.

  • Kate,

First - It's NOT me belting & NOT me talking!

Second - This student won Best Supporting Actress in the 2007 Helen Hayes HS Theater Awards competition, so I guess she WAS all that good, sang NOT-terrible, was NOT flat, COULD belt, and WAS on key! Not sorry.

Third - Learn how to write decent sentences.

  • Well see i go to a school where like everyones amazing...so if someone is average its like oh. But she cant sing, sorry.

  • Yeah-right...........

  • your a fucking dumbass...

  • no swearing

  • @leojrevlis

I think it is a well deserved award for her to win. A great actress and great dancer! I am sure she would be a terrific singer if she wasn't doing so much dancing, but that just comes with practise to learn control. Still a very good performance and i'm not saying the singing was bad, i'm trying to be constructive here. For a high school performance it is extremely good, a whole lot better than most people can even dream of being. She is clearly going to go very far with this x

  • I'm not sure what singing you are talking about, but I am a musical theatre director, and chorus teacher, and she was excellent. We are thinking about doing this show next year, and I hope to find someone who is half as good as she is at singing, acting, belting, and REMAINING on key...

  • well it's just my opinion! Sorry to offend anyone!

  • You mean her shouting?

  • woof... this was wonderful...

  • I love that end pose

  • wonderful!im a dancer, singer, and an actress, but i dont think i could ever dance this wonderfully and sing this loverly...at the same time...AND IN HIGH HEELS!!!OMG!wonderful and amazing job!brava!

  • great job!im a dancer, singer, and actress, but i dont know if i could ever dance that wounderfully and sing as loverly at the same time.brava!!

  • Bravo. Great job!

  • It's "brava"... [feminine]. ;-}

BUT ANYWAY - Thanks for giving the great compliment!!

  • Thanks. I stand corrected.

  • Not bad - but I do think some of her dancing affected her singing. Like her movements were too big and too much for her to do while singing. And the end wasn't as belty as I thought it would be. But still pretty good.

  • I just watched 3 bootlegs. One was pretty much the same intensity, another was actually sung a bit softer, and the third was slower in tempo, and sort of Marilyn Monroe-eque. None belted.. All had big [frantic] movements, which is the "intent" of the song. I'm not saying that these 4 are "right," but they are consistent with each other, which leads me to believe that she was directed properly.

Yes - she was good. She won a tri-state HS competition for her performance.

    Thanks for commenting.

  • yeah no prob. I haven't seen any pro versions performed, so of course I'm not comparing to anything. But I definitely think her character is well developed and her overall movement is well planned and executed. It was just what I imagined it to be :)

  • This is a musical that has yet to be performed by any HS in this area. Looks interesting. Great performance too!

    Thanks
