  • So sorry!!

  • RIP Amanda. You inspired many and will be missed by many!

  • So sad, I watched his display many years ago with a different walker - astonishing courage.Wish them well.

  • A very sad story. I hope she has the courage to fight and live on. Flying is so much fun and so rewarding, but the consequences of mishaps can be lethal and devastating.

I think it's worth the risk though. People get maimed and killed in their cars going to work or getting slammed by a drunk. The news is full of stories of that. I would soona die in my airplane, at least at the most, it's on my terms.

  • God bless her

  • Tant pis pour toé colis.

  • Sorry to hear your story, young man , but an old proverb is right :" You play with a sword, you die by a sword "

  • She was fucking hot...

  • Incredibly sad story. Hope all turns out well for them both. Are there any updates on her condition?

  • @miamiyachtcharters She died over a month after the crash, May 27, 2011

  • Capitalist society is amazing, will chase a dollar even if it means death!

Being both parents had died doing the same thing, AND the engine died whilst taxing in the accident aircraft the day prior, lead pilot should have called it off until the problem was found.

Doing a test "run up" for 15 minutes and finding nothing wrong is BS, something caused the engine to die and now the NTSB has done test to find the problem ... too late now.

  • @BPwhistleblower I don't understand your hatred for people who fly like this or why you blame capitalism for this. Please stop commenting if this is all you have to offer.

  • @XCraftllc BEcause you are an emotional idiot and obviously have no real world experience with anything!

  • but yet they want to keep doing it?

  • @barretto15 and that's my point... it's stupid and dangerous.

  • @chackers You are a fuckin' jackass!

  • @flraptor07 That's no way to talk about my comatose wife!

  • @chackers If it's my wife, there'd be no way to tell the difference.

  • @chackers you're a piece of shit. Period.

  • @mtnhooch Ya know what really hurts? When I find out that someone who doesn't know how to capitalize disapproves of me.

  • Hey all you guys!!! Kyle is a friend of mine and this was a tragic accident...not Kyle's or Amanda's fault at all. I highly commend these guys for being as brave as they are....which I am a pilot also...and I couldn't imagine what the final seconds must have been like. Have a little compassion and remorse please. He's been through enough with his dad and grandpa too. May God bless Kyle and give him the courage to fulfill some more kids dreams.God bless Jimmy, and Amanda! rest in peace.

    By JACQUELINE ARMENDARIZ, Brownsville Herald

Amanda Franklin, the air-show performer gravely injured in Brownsville in March, died Friday night in San Antonio, her family announced.

Her husband, Kyle Franklin, had said Thursday that her condition had deteriorated to the point where they stopped treatment and were giving her only comfort care.

  • Damn you guys are rude as hell with sexist jokes and blaming the pilot you guys be to have respect it's the planes engine that caused it not him rip Amanda

  • Mate - I'm so sorry to hear of your loss.

    Rest in Peace, Brave Lady.

  • Big deal dummies rule!

  • I wish CE750 had something to write about... anyway, she should have been making a sandwich

  • Best way to die, if you ask me. Flying is not so much a passion as it is a disease.

  • My blessings go with them!

  • Wonder at night while all alone does he think it was worth it...Life is strange some people are type A positive & others are type B positive and live to type this post today...Back in the air in no time? 25 years old so SAD life is to precious to be out and about risking it?

  • @iaonationm7 Life is made to take risks, whats the point of life, if you dont actually experience it? Everyone in aviation does it because they love it, they accept the risks, knowing they may someday be killed in an accident, but at least they know they lived life while they could.

  • Living And Dying the way I choose Is the Only way to live and die, were only here for a while,, I mourn your loss, God Bless you,, Brave Woman,,,

  • Rip

  • fuck you ass holes she died how do you feel know you asss hole

  • You idiot! You ought to be fed to the sharks, slowly!

  • :\ rest in peace!

  • I just read in the comments that she died. That makes my last comment even more accurate. This guy was so selfish and/or misguided that, even on her death bed, he was saying they would fly again.

  • @seattle0002 Selfish? That was THEIR passion. They BOTH loved taking to the skies and putting on a show. That is what made them happy. Those who aren't in aviation simply can't comprehend the passion that people in aviation have for flying. Sorry he was so selfish that he wanted his wife to recover and continue doing what she loved with him. You are the asshole here.

  • "We'll be back in the air again"?? With respect, who the fuck are you to make that decision for your mutilated wife?

  • Truly sad. RIP Amanda.

  • The engine quit? Should have used a Honda.

  • skingraph..good online name but a sad reality.:(

  • @CE750 I see what you did there fatty... I'll do the same for you.

  • I see no purpose to any of this ridiculous and unsafe activity... I fly for a living and find this stuff as utterly irresponsible, what a waste a nice young woman's life.

  • @CE750 The engine quitted it could kill any pilot at 500 feets

  • Comment removed

  • @mariodela she suffered not him, likely because she wasn't properly belted in.

  • @CE750 Hm, a pilot who doesn't like airshows? You are just strange.

  • @DerPilotMann the vast majority of professional airline pilots I've worked with and know have never been to an airshow.. what does that tell you?

  • @CE750 I just find it odd. I work as a ramp/ ticket counter agent for United Express and all the pilots I've talked to love airshows. I suppose it is the two separate sides of aviation. The one side (like mine) wants nothing more than to preserve the "fun" in flying, like a taking a piper cub and just flying low and slow and taking in the sights, or doing rolls and loops in an acrobatic plane. The other side cares about nothing more than the safety of flying and making it comfy for passengers

  • @CE750 Both are right in some aspects, both are wrong in some aspects. It all depends on the circumstances. However, I believe it should up to the pilot (as long as it is not a commercial flight, and he does not endanger others). For one, I would rather get a stearman and go do rolls and loops than a G1000 equipped 182 with a full autopilot (both would be fun, don't get me wrong there). To each their own though.

  • @CE750 Forgot to mention, I am a student pilot, almost done. Working the ramp doesn't pay very well...

  • @DerPilotMann best of luck.... I worked the ramp 20 years ago at Signature (was called Butler Aviation)... only to come in later in a Citation X and my old manager was in shock when he saw me coming out as it's captain... He and I got on well actually. As to the topic at hand.. I don't mind the shows, if they were done on video and aired later, but so many innocent people (viewers) have died over the years just attending... it's Dangerous.

  • @CE750 I like going to them, I get a huge adrenaline rush, honestly I look forward to our airshow more than Christmas, but like I said, its two separate sides of aviation, and really society as a whole. About flying as a career though, its so expensive these days its impossible to do without good credit. Im currently getting in shape for the air national guard, they will pay for my college, so I think that is a great option right there =)

  • @CE750 I am an airline pilot, and I do have an interest in almost all aspects of aviation. With that being said, flying an airliner is vastly different from general aviation. I'm sure there are people who like to drive fast that have never been to a racetrack. What does that tell me? Nothing at all. I know many airline pilots that have 0 interest in aviation, and I know many airline pilots that completely geek out on aviation.

  • if god wanted us to fly he would have gave us wings

  • @MegaMonkyman123 He did give us wings you idiot pre-school troll. He gave us the brain to know how to do just about anything conceivable. We have modern era cars and massive shipping vessels that are all impossible to make without computers. I suppose God didn't want us to have any of that as well right?

Trolling or not, your frontal cortex must be extremely disproportionately undeveloped. Dam.... Now that is the true definition of retching terror.

  • Jimmy Franklin was the pilot of the famous jet-engine Waco.

  • WTF!!?? what was she doing out of the kitchen??!!!

  • @YOURkindaKRAZY She died motherfucker. Does your joke still seem funny.

  • @seattle0002 as a matter of fact i still do

  • this is what you get for being a dumb ass. COMMON SENSE SHOULD TELL YOU NOT TO GET ON TOP OF A FLYING FUCKING PLANE

  • @obamasucksdick99 Shut the hell up. We can tell by your name that you are a dumbass.

  • @Oniterian stfu communist

  • @obamasucksdick99 AND when you say, "stfu communist", You are also proving your ignorance.

  • @Oniterian your a marxist communist liberal fuck xD

  • @obamasucksdick99 HAHAHA Even more ignorance. IGNORANCE.

  • @Oniterian nigger xD

  • @obamasucksdick99 @Oniterian - You two done yet? Play nice on the intertoobs, children.

  • @JBofBrisbane lol :-D

  • I know the comments are all upset... But I will bring some joy! 2:52 ! xD

  • this is terrible :-(

  • i've been to many many airshows and always wondered why the planes have to be so low ,, entertainment value i guess ,, but it does not entertain me ,,, except or those with ejection seats ,, i worry a lot ,, it's not that much fun to watch a craft in a mode not to be able to recover

  • sad story...

    RIP Amanda

  • so sad..

  • A plane like that drops fast, I doubt anyone could have handled it much better. very sad

  • the days of risky aviation stunts like this is over.

i, for one, don't want to see them anymore.

  • Such a tragedy. I think all of us pilots, have lost friends, who have died, doing what we love so much. Such a pity, at so young an age. Yes- Kyle could have probably done a better job with the "dead-stick" landing- but I'm sure he was watching Amanda, worrying about her getting back into seat- and forgot the #1 rule- FLY THE PLANE.

  • @Patriotgal1 You're absolutely right. FLY THE PLANE!

  • @Patriotgal1 The gentleman indicates that they will be back in the air in no time. Is it worth it? What does he love? His wife or flying recklessly. You obviously can't have both. He is responsible for her suffering and pain. He was PIC.Some people never learn. Perhaps her disfigurement and scars will serve as a reminder to him. He needs to do something else.

  • @yesterway Some people, maybe even most, never learn that there is much more to LIVING than merely surviving. Perhaps the greater tragedy is for those people who have survived, but never experienced what it is like to really live during the brief existence that we have.

  • @yesterway His wife is DEAD. They BOTH made the decision to fly, and do their act. To most pilots I know, the freedom of flying, is an acceptable risk. I suppose some people are afraid to take a bath, for fear of the risk of slipping and dying. Others go to the moon. I KNOW which class I'd rather be in.

  • @Patriotgal1 Sorry I think I missed something I thought they said she was in a medically induced comma until she's in a proper state to come back to conscience. Is that not right? Was she dead and I missed that? It sounds like something I don't think I'd have missed.

  • @yesterway He wasn't flying recklessly, It was there routine, They had done it many, many time before. If it was "Reckless" as you suggest the FAA would have grounded them long before this happened. Just ask Bob Hoover, The best airshow pilot there ever was. When The FAA thought his show was getting out of hand they ordered him to land and grounded him pending review.

  • @mrusa4440 What does the term "stunt" mean to you? It means taking unnecessary risks as in "reckless". That's the whole point of that kind of flying. Flying does not suffer fools under the best of circumstances not to mention people who deliberately invite disaster. There is nothing noble or even admirable about deliberately risking the health and safety of people for cheap spectator thrills. The whole thing is a horrible example of what NOT to do.

  • @yesterway Get a life. And No. People DO NOT go to airshows to watch people die, they go to see the pure freedom of flying. I'm really glad i don't know you, because you seem to be a real jerk. He was doing what he loved, and so was she. He did not force her to wingwalk for him, she chose it on her own. Making fun of a guy's suffering and pain. You are an Ass. And Getting in to the air would probably be best for him, occupational therapy. Why don't you do the world a favor and fall in a hole.

  • Guys, sadly Amanda Franklin died..google it...

  • wait is she dead i thought she just had surgery in san antonio pleaz answer

  • @Philipperocks She did end up dying.

It seems like the pilot could have done a better job of getting the plane on the ground. But it's hard to judge someone who is in this kind of situation. So many confusing thoughts tend to pass though a person's mind at times like these.

  • @idontcare80 @ that altitude in a dragy Bi-Plane? I am a pilot and have a Murphy Bi-plane, you cant gain the speed needed from such a low altitude. The plane stalled and went in. Check the elevator, he was trying to recover the stall......

  • Kyle and Amanda: I wish you all the best. Congratulations for having the GUTS to live as you wanted.

Most unkind people writing here aren't brave enough to change a single lamp without help.

  • @brunocortese You are a very confused and ignorant person. Get your priorities straight. There is nothing brave about what they did. They took risks and paid the price for it. Nothing noble in that. Brave is doing something that contributes to society and sets a good example for young people to follow. The reason people go to these kinds of events is because they want to see disaster. I don't buy your "oh how brave they were to live like they wanted" BS.

  • @yesterway I'm sorry to hurt your feelings, but there are people that just don't share your point of view. I didn't say that was noble; I said that was BRAVE.

Don't point your finger at people that wanna live their lives beyond an office desk, right? I go to that kind of events to hear the roar, the wind, see the speed, the challenge, the thrill. If eventually some people get killed doing what their love, that was worth living.

After all not everyone is afraid of dying.

  • @yesterway

    fuck you asshole !

yea...i'm sure they said the same about the first flying machines, about astronauts, about the first submariners, the first explorers to brave the oceans to new worlds!!

GROW THE FUCK UP AND SHUT UP! Not all people are assholes like you and come to these events to see DEATH. I sure dont...I come to see adventure, bravery, talent....because i live for these characters in humans.

Your a waste of skin and oxygen..just call it quits for the sake of us all.

  • @lensman8 you are obviously uneducated and were raised without your real parents like most of this generation. You have no morals and you are not capable of expressing yourself without using crude and filthy language. I do not have time for trash like you. Go get some manners and some life experience. Until then be quiet and keep your ignorant opinions to yourself.

  • @brunocortese

    OMG ...YOU ARE SO RIGHT!

Kyle..i feel for you losing such a beautiful and courageous wife..i hope she didn't suffer long. R.I.P. Amanda!

  • Comment removed

  • Wow. So many heartless comments. Kyle is an amazing pilot and he and Amanda loved doing what they do. It was in their blood. Amanda is greatly missed by the aviation community. These two brought a lot of greatness to aviation and were genuinly awesome people. Keep your head held high Kyle. The world lost a wonderful lady but Amanda will be your personal angel watching over you from here on out.

  • @louisianaoutlaw What a bunch of emotional nonsense. Kyle is not an amazing pilot. He sets a bad example and gives aviation a bad name. Do you understand that death is permanent? That young woman's life is over and all you can say is some nonsense about angels? Wake up!

  • @yesterway You obviously don't know shit about Kyle or aviation. My post nonsense??? Why don't you go back and reread your comments, pull your head out of your ass and take a moment to think before sharing your opinions. I doubt anyone's interested in them anyway.

  • "the most dangerous thing n the world is to b alive." -GK Chesterton

  • @PInk77W1 so, all is true here.

  • If she had lived, she would've been all like, "Oh HELL NAW! You damn crazy if you think that I'M gonna get back up there after this!"

  • Good to know she's lived. Hope she recovers soon.

  • Yes, this woman died. So his father died, her father died, his wife wound up dying, and his best friend died. You'd figure these people would get the message eh?

  • "doctors use the skin from cadavers" damn science, u scary

  • She died! =(

  • uhm.... what is RISKY? standing ontop of a wing during flight with risk of crashing? Driving in a Car at 60mph with oncoming traffice passing at 120 mph just few inches away from the Driver's side? Or, working as a cashier at a restaurant coming into contact with contagious diseases such as H1N1? LIFE IS FULL OF RISKS At least some get to enjoy their journey more than others!

  • @EasternMerchant of walking with bananas on the floor.. :(

  • @jasonyeozhishen LOL yeah actually I almost lost my OWN life because of a BANANA HAHAHAHA! LOL

  • Real love by her idiotic husband. Hi honey, I handle poisonous snakes for a living. Want to join me in the fun?

  • @Hatejews1 Fucking idiot.

  • @agcatdriver Hope will 2 with u....

  • That is the worst accident ever..She was a beautiful looking girl too.

  • Nice husband - Class 1 idiot.

  • RIP Amanda (27th May 2011).

  • I was there when this happened. I got footage of it as well

  • I trolled the facebook page and gotta ask if the amount of suffering she was put through was worth the glory of playing pirate in the sky?

  • Sounds like a male exploiting a female, again. A hot sexy bod outside the plane for everybody to see! There are no two ways about it.

  • I like the advertisement, it talks about shitting yourself and farting.

  • "We're going to be back in the air.. in no time." Uh huh. Poor woman. How awful.

  • @Bevity poor woman? she loves to do it! she assumed the risks and if she still wants to do it then it's her choice...

  • @Dan737MASTER

Ah, Amanda Franklin died on May 27.

  • @crow6145k I didn't know she died. AGAIN, I say, poor woman. I'm waiting for many to jump down my throat. I don't care. I feel for Amanda. Of course she knew the risks and they caught up with her, but m still sorry about it.

  • @Dan737MASTER First of all, I was picturing her wing walking, handless.... And now I have to ask you if you have no compassion for her burns and such? It's like going to the hospital to see her and telling her that she wanted to do it, it was her choice and now she must live with the consequences. She's a human being. She feels pain. I repeat myself. Poor woman. I wish her all the best. Dang heartless individuals.........

  • @Bevity lol i'm not heartless, i just thought you meant that you felt sorry that she was gonna continue doing it!! i do feel sorry for her since she had to deal with such suffering, it must've been awful. oh and finding out she died doesn't make me feel any better... sooooo sorry if i just gave you the wrong idea haha

  • @Bevity better to die doing what you love then in a car crash going to work.

  • @jaggearhead you are an idiot, please refrain from posting on youtube, and hell, if you can't say anything meaningful or truthful, stop posting altogether. For the sake of all of us. RIP Amanda.

  • @jaggearhead Flying the plane is the hard work. Wing walking is not at all difficult. Its just daring. In the end, the tether is what did her in. If she chose to get involved in something she didnt fully understand, well thats her own bad. There is no exploitation here what so ever. Just cause, and effect. If you dont want to die in or because of an airplane, dont board one. Further more, dont fly at low altitude performing unrecoverable stunts.

  • @jaggearhead If you werent so fucking ignorant, you would realize they operate the plane under the min. ceiling required for a parachute to be deployed/effective. Dont forget, she was TETHERED to the plane via her wing walking harness. A parachute would have done zero good. And "most new planes" are not equipped with parachutes, its merely something that was developed and is sold optionally in the "aftermarket". God damn you are dumb.

  • @jaggearhead you are a fucking idiot. She is a 2nd generation wing walker. Not exploited at all. How come everytime a women does something, some asshole screams exploitation. You think women cant handle themselves? Or makes there own decision? Maybe you think women just dont belong outside the kitchen? She lived her life the way SHE wanted to. Living and dying in her fathers foot steps. You sir are a fascist and a bigot. No go hang yourself.

  • @jaggearhead its a co-operative effort you stupid fuck. too low for chutes to work. How is he exploiting his wife? She was an adult, and knew what she was doing. Shit happens. If it was easy, everyone would do it.

  • she probably should have jumped!

  • at least she lived more in the last minute of her life then most people ever do

  •

  • So sorry to hear. Wish the pilot and wingwalker both a full recovery. I really enjoy seeing the air show performances, and if you decide you want to continue the show, we will be cheering you on from the spectators areas! If not, I personally cheer you on in whatever are your future endeavors. Keep doin whatcha love, many never get the chance!

  • Update?

Wonder if she would have done better staying on the wing since no time to get harnessed in.

  • man, these plane crashes are horrible.

  • They both were to taken, he must now burn like her!

  • Kyle,

    Sorry for your loss:(

  • Dick is a name...

  • OMG, how sad. and she is so beautiful too...wow

  • You know, exactly what does fate have to do to convince you you're in the wrong business? Both fathersdead, and now your wife will be a walking nightmare, but YOU "will be back in the air." I guess 'Dumbass' is a sickness you can't overcome.

  • @19Truth53 You're a dumb asshole, and you have no idea what you're talking about. If someone gets struck by lightning, are they supposed to never go outside again? People can plenty of skill and brains and just plain bad luck sometimes.

  • I now Kyle personally. His wife has now passed away. Please pray for Kyle as he gets over this tragic event.

  • @SuperPooperscooper11 Please convey my deepest condolences

  • @SuperPooperscooper11 I am his son and father. please pray for me and give me all your money to get over this tragic event.
