if its a 10.5 or smaller you need to go with a noveske pig because the shorties dont have enough back pressure but if its longer than 10.5 than you can go with the troy
@MrAsiansk8er Ummm. No. Note the date on the video, watch ALL of the videos. There's PLENTY of backpressure in the 10.5's, and I suspect even on the 7.5's. If you do the buffer and gas system right, backpressure isn't an issue. The idea of there not being enough backpressure in a shorty is a fallacy.
@sidhepro Trust me, this is my patrol and competition rifle, & that Noveske Pig is sitting lonely in the gun safe. It's really not about backpressure, it's about dwell time, and trust me, there's plenty. In all actuality, it WILL shoot with NOTHING on the front . 'Run like a raped ape' comes to mind...
@sidhepro yea you did it right cause you usually get people who dont use the right buffers but your right if you use the right buffers and gas systems it will work fine but alot of people have feeding problems because not enough back pressure
The one issue I've heard about the Noveske is that the inserts get worn out really quick and are expensive to replace. I know a lot of dealers that are ditching them left and right. The Troy brake is a well-made unit, but extremely loud. I wouldn't sponsor ARFCOM if someone put a gun to my head. Ed Avila is the biggest self-aggrandizing douchebag in the gun industry and a genuine POS. Besides, we try not to cater to the Airsoft and mall ninja crowd that comprises most of ARFcom's roster
The Troy works good, we just were just surprised at how LOUD they were. We're probably going to add an 7.5" or 11.5" SBR'ed AR to our demo gun lineup in '09, they're a hoot to shoot
You ought to check out our KA-1222 brake/suppressor unit. It is brake/flash suppressor hybrid and a lot lighter. Our 2nd generation version is a hair lighter than an A2 birdcage
nice vid and badass gun. how is the brake aligned? i got one on a plr16 and it seems to have more muzzle rise with the brake on. have a great day

I have heard Ed Avila in some of his videos, he sounds like a capital A hole by the way he was speaking to the other shooters.

Heh.
The main thing we noticed between this and the pig was that there was less rise on the Troy.
Have you thought about promoting your gear on ARFcom?

Hell yeah they're loud.
Considering it's a duty weapon, I'm not overly concerned about the volume. That and I rather like my DNA-sampler on the muzzle. *grins*

Thanks but I'm happy with my Troy. I only have the one SBR right now, and don't need a collection of brakes. :o)
Just sent my husband a link to one of your auctions though in case he needs something for the next rifle he builds.

Saw this again and have a question, how do the GG&G flipcaps(I'm assuming that's what they are) attach to the eotech?
bighitter42 3 years ago
It's one piece unit. You take off the hood and just snap it into place then replace the hood on the EoTech.

Glad to hear your decision. Anything shorter than 14.5" will really benefit(as far as reliability) from a KX3. Plus they look BADASS.
bighitter42 3 years ago
Yeah, the KX3's look badass, but the muzzle rise was noticeably different from the Troy brake. I'll take quicker returns to target over badass. LOL

Always good to see more women at the range. Nice clip and thanks for sharing

Thanks!
I had a ball building this the first time (as a 16") and even more fun getting the SBR classification on it. All I can say is I'm a very spoiled girl.
Hubby makes sure I have the best toys. *grins*
The Troy brake won out over the Pig, I'll hold the Pig for the eventual 7.5" SBR.
