The none black was the original, they changed a lot of people in the ps1 version because they wanted to give off the illusion that this was happening in america, how stupid.

I never played the original, but I have just started playing this one and I love it just as much as I like P3 and P4 (they were my first exposure to the Persona series) And I didn't get all mad at how the graphics look. For me, they're nice to look at and the first person view when wandering through dungeons has me on edge because I don't know when an enemy will pop up outta nowhere the the other two games let you see enemies before they come at you. This one's more RPG traditional. ^_^

I don't know everything that's changed, but I'll list those I know of.

-Remade world map (Much, much sexier)

-Animated and voiced cutscenes in an Anime-ish style.

-Better translation.

-The name and portraits of the characters are as how they originally were in the japanese version.

-This version has the SQQ (Snow Queen Quest, which was removed in the american version)

-Added floors for dungeons, and stuff of the like.

-Faster battles, walking and loading.

And more little perfections.

It has to do with the fact that you're putting your name in where pronouns usually are. Specifically "I", but that's whatever. I had to make sure what you were; someone who probably doesn't normally speak English or someone whose native language is English, but they can't even speak it correctly themselves...

And I would know where Poland is. It's beside Czech, Slovakia, and Ukraine; I have coworkers who're Slovakian, and my best friend's Mom immigrated from Ukraine.

This series would have been a great rival to the final fantasy series if it was localized right, I mean this series has great story lines and decent gameplay that changes the way rpg players like us look at the genre.

Referring to who's best to choose as the last party member:

Chris is also great to get because many of his Persona are impervious to insta-death spells. He's also very strong. It's kind of a pain to get him though (you have to get through Sebec with only 4 people).

Brad is good because his dialogue/negotiating is hilarious.

The boss music IS meh... especially compared to the original.

...which is odd... after about a month of hating the new battle theme just because it was j-pop, I realized the original one sucked pretty hard and the new one grew on me.

...don't really see that happenin with the new boss theme...

If they remake Persona 2:EP or Innocent Sin, they better not touch the boss themes.

i never played the first persona, and this has been bugging me....

this is probably a stupid question, but is this the type of game where the game gives you party members and you can't control who leaves you, like grandia 3, or is there a "party" option in the menu, where you can change your active combatants?

Well, there's basically two paths in this game (one not released in the original, but I digress).

In the main path, you have your Main Character, Maki, Masao, and Kei (Mary, Mark, and Nate). For your fifth character you can choose Eriko, Hidehiko, Yuka, or Reiji, with Yukino being forever unusable (Ellen, Brad, Alana, Chris, Yuki). So yeah, you do have *some* control over the last member, but that's it.

Also, I know in the second path that Yuka and Yukino are base party members for sure.

I have the original ps version, and I went with Alana. She's ok, but I really wanted Ellen. I didnt find out how to get Ellen until AFTER I wound up with Alana though :/

when I play Persona 2:EP, I'll have to pick Ellen to make up for it (from my understanding, Ellen and Nate from this game come back in P2, but you only get 1.)

Whoo first boss fight. Dig the new boss fight, though I miss the part that sort of builds up to the main boss fight music (also miss the 'awakening' theme, but I'll deal).

Somehow I usually end up with a maxed out Pixie at this fight and spam Bolt... or Zionga I guess... I dunno.

Also, I enjoy the fact where you can predict where your attacks will hit with the new guiding systems for attacks and party set up. Nice to see it when you're choosing skills too ^_^
