I have a friend that was 'set up' by the police. Though, he was dealing powder heavily for over 5 years and thought he was innocent. A seven year sentence proved otherwise.
Certain cops, in certain areas, pose this bigger & more insidious threat than many criminals do ((as many psychopathic cops are criminals!)). For there are few creatures worse than this alcoholic, insecure, angry, vicious, jealous Irish-American cop with this ax to grind & this little man complex (for there are many of those where I come from south of Boston). Though there are many GREAT ones as well, honest cops who should be thoroughly commended! The bad ones should be beaten to the ground!
I WAS ARRESTED FOR POT POSSESSION AND THE FUCKING COPS TAMPERED WITH THE EVIDENCE. THEY REPLACED MY BOWL OF WEED WITH 5 JOINTS JUST TO MAKE THEIR CASE STICK. FUCK YOU INDUSTRY SHERIFF STATION. I AM FIGHTING THE FALSE CHARGES. I HAVE MY LICENSE AND THEY ARE TILL FUCKING WITH ME. COPS ARE CORRUPTED MOTHER FUCKERS. EVERY TIME ONE GETS KILLED I SMILE.
Despite the fact that this is only a movie, that there should be cameras on cops, so that every interaction between them & the public can be recorded. For that would keep everyone honest, therefore protecting the public from rough, abusive & dishonest cops, while mostly protecting the police against frivolous & fraudulent lawsuits with no merit or basis in reality. Also, such a cameras on cops policy has already been implemented out in certain parts of California, so why not everywhere???
The best movie Tom Selleck ever made period. This one is as good as it gets. Were it some other non TV actor it would have been up for best picture and Selleck for best actor. Its a shame he never did anything this good again.
First of all, without both probable cause or explicit, written permission from this well established judge (in the form of this legally mandated warrant) those two extremely dishonest, crooked, so-cio-path-ic, shithead cops wouldn't be allowed to go anywhere near that house (they'd be the ones going to jail!). I mean, do you see any warrant being displayed or waved about? Then again, it's only this above average (yet powerfully compelling) movie, so what can you expect?
Similar incidents happen with surprising frequency .
Is it common ?
Hopefully not, but it's far from rare.
Google 'Atlanta Police Corruption' if you don't believe me.
Yes, they were finally busted- but they got away with it for a long period of time.
Several police officers (and an FBI agent !) were also recently indicted for planting drugs on people in Tulsa, Oklahoma; a city which has generally had a reputation for solid law enforcement (to my knowlege).
Tom Selleck's character just had it comin'...not good to be f..cked in the ass by crooked cops or prisoners
