@ellu96 this was the old version... the new one has the morning report song and simba trying to catch a gopher, while in the old one he tries to catch a grasshopper...
I never realised that here Zazu is just using a bunch of animal stereotypes, the buzz from the bees, cheaters never prosper, I told the elephants to forget it, but they can't. I have now realised that this was my first exposure to Rowan Atkinson in films. Just like George of the Jungle gave me John Cleese for the first time.
@ChristianBalefan91 they changed it to morning report as it was in the theatrical version and it was such a hit and every one loved it they changed the pouncing lesson to morning report in the special edition dvd. Personally I quite like the song but I can see where your coming from they should have kept the original scene
@ChristianBalefan91 They didn't remove it, it was added on so that it would be more of a fun singing bit, plus this is the first time Simba gets to sing before "I just can't wait to be king" So thats why so many people like it. Most of them think this one is boring anyway. I think it is to. It just doesn't think have the Simba spirit.
That is what it used to be before they re-released the Lion King on DVD...Quite frankly...I like this version MUCH better for two reasons...Zazu's reaction, and the fact that this is how it always was before they sudden'y had the mind to change the classic...I mean, I like the song, but it should have stayed in the Broadway performance, as far as I'm concerned...
I agree completely, Zazu to me always seemed like a grumpy old rule following bird. And his character was awesome because of that! It made it ever more fun when Simba and Nala tricked him. The new one is out of character and just plain strange. Leave the classics as they are =3
Actually, they had the Morning Report song first. They ended up cutting it for whatever reason, and replaced it with this scene, but included it in the Broadway version. Then they animated the scene, probably based on the early storyboards, and then put it into the Special Edition version.
Yes, it was a good scene, despite what it messed with. I guess it's just hard to mess with anything in this movie. But if something had to, the song did a respectable job.
"I told the elephants to forget it (sigh), but they can't" haha

I'm very confused now... Is the "morning report" song in the dvd officially or is it just in the extras?
And the song can't really be done before this scene, because you can see how the animation style changes in parts that were redone... oh well
ellu96 2 years ago
It's officially in the DVD, but you can choose which version of the film to watch: the special edition or the original theatrical release.
Oh yeah! It is different. So is Simba's voice, because they had to use a different actor.

No, they haven't redubbed the whole film. They've just added a new song with weird voices, that's all.

As good as the song in the new version is, I prefer this one simply for Zazu's reaction after realizing he's the target in the pouncing lesson. XD

calicarman 4 years ago 7
Mufasa: Zazu, could you turn around?
Zazu: Yes sire *continues talking* What's going on?
Mufasa: A pouncing lesson.
Zazu: Oh, very good, pouncing. POUNCING! Oh, sire you can't be serious... oh this is so humiliating.
HILARIOUS!

I agree, although the song is pretty cool in and of itself, it just shouldn't have messed with this scene.
raptersarecool 4 years ago 5
I don't really care. I think it's pretty funny in the special edition when Zazu pecks Simba on the head and then Simba flings him.
