@TheChrississin if you mean the ct60 for 300 euro ... i am happy with that ... i can now browse the web on my atari and listen to mp3 in normal speed ... also email and icq i use only on this machine ... i have now ordered the supervidel 3d grafix chip with SVEthLanA (super videl ethernet lan adapter) price is not finished ... but will cost about 220-280 on nature.atari.org you can register ... hurry up ... supervidel will soon be finished

Am I right to assume that no released unmodified Atari computer can play HD videos properly and be used as a computer for web browsing?

@Trusteft with 16mhz you can not play hd videos, but you can use a browser ... i use CAB in 1999-2000 (crystal atari browser) and littlebit later draconis with javascript ... but with BIG JPG pictures it will slow down ... but its still good work for a 16mhz machine (not to forget the 32mhz DSP - digital signal processor) and now with ct060 speeder and 512mb ram i can browse the web and listen to my mp3´s at the same time ... and atarICQ is also running ... lot of fun with this machine ...

@Trusteft haha hd videos of course not ... but browsing web YEEES of course ... and playing mp3 YEEEES of course ... but with standard 4 mb (falcon) its better to run falcamp from tos low res and not from any installed operating system ...

@bamdadkhan It looks like TOS 4.01 I think or similar. The GEM desktop was a complete rip off from the mac. I remember Digital Research getting into a bit of trouble over it because it was very similar.

@bamdadkhan again for you OS is jinee with magic 6.2 or freemint with thing ... but also on standard tos 4.04 its running ... look the video there is also your answer ... i have severall os´s installed and do not know anymore which i use on this video

atari clocked down the falcon 030 be- cause they doesnt wanted to destroy their flagship atari TT with 32 mhz ... and falcon 030 should be the first little one of a new atari series, later they wanted to made the falcon 040 in a desktop case and a falcon 060 in a tower case for professionals ... and the falcon 030 should be the little multimedia studio for home ... like barebones or eeebox pro-totypes exist also falcon/jaguar64 hard-

I only show what a standard atari can do ... i also have a fast speeder ... but amiga nowadays use vodoo3 and apple G3 cpus ... its not the same anymore than atari both computers are good... maybe amiga os 4.1 looks better but needs more ram and cpu time ... my win7 ultimate looks like windows 3.11 ...

Yea but you can change it, fundamentally though the falcon is better than any amiga.

yeah, i agree. the hardware was nicer. dsp sound copro, chunky graphics, 030 as standard - very cool. the a1200 was a bit crippled because it used old the old a500 coprocessors.

having said that, the 16-bit A500 totally wipes the floor with the ST (and even STe). It just had everything...the OS plus perfect hardware.

so a draw overall i guess :)

being an amiga and c64 user myself, its always good to see people defending their aging platform. for a 16mhz machine its quite amazing, playing mp3 and especially the video! still I think the amiga is better off these days, with a modern OS and very fast cpu's. no offense!

My Atari Falcon060 is sporting 512MB RAM and thats more than I could truthfulyl need, its running off a 32GB OCZ SSD HD with 2x72GB SCSI Drives and dual DVDRW

Im also running the Jinnee Desktop, and its still stuck with the basic GEM Windowing system, but with widgets and the power of jinnee is so much better than AmigaOS4 ( Yes, I also use Amiga too )

I love AmigaOS4, its taken the Amiga to great heights but dont judge the Atari on this one video.

os naes and magic with jinnee video is mov file ... older one but also avi and mpg is possible but slow on standard 16 mhz falcon ... for real avi you need a ct60 90 mhz motorola 68060 speeder ... i have get one of the last ones ... soon put it in

with screenspain you can made your own resolutions ... its an independent software ... i have 800*592 256colors 50hz resolution but i also have one 1024*768 with 90 hz interlace ... so you have 45 hz on desk

you only need the aniplayer software ... it runs also on standard tos ... i do not know if floatingpointunit (fpu) is necessary ... but i think not ... maybe with FPU its littlebit faster ... searchengine: atari aniplayer
