@ramc64 You are right, but it depends which angle you watch movies. Is it for the laugh and fun, you probably forget after a few months or weeks, or is it a movie that touches you. I believe business should be in Wall Street, and art should be in the cinemas.
@saqibk1 I agree with you I have to say, though being realistic you cannot make movies without money and most of them cost a fortune. Then keep in mind that "cinema" owns plenty of shares in Wall Street ;)
@ramc64 That doesn´t surprise me with Wall Street, and the big blockbuster movies from Hollywood, and yes you are right about the meaning with movies big/small budgets is recognition and for some money. But still i will point out that the main reason for the popularity of Hollywood/american movies is that they are english languaged. Imagine if Pulp Fiction was an italian production and spoken in italian. I don´t think it would have been so popular as it is in english.
@saqibk1 It certainly is a question of MARKET. English movies have a target of over 400 million people and counting... Can you imagine a French movie? Sure, there are 80 million in France plus a few in Canada and then a crowd in Africa (people who cannot afford going to the movies). The scenery goes worst with German and Scandinavian or Slavic languages. Spanish does a bit better of course but not that much.
@ramc64 Thats exactly my point. The majority watches movies in english, and that explains the popularity of American movies/actors/directors. But IMO the best movies/actors/directors are outside America.
I feel that in Europe there is a more even displacement of awards to both men and women..hollywood is in a perpetual cock-fest

@akadaka69 Hollywood is just looks and showbuisness, like the Oscars. European cinema is art.

@saqibk1 You may be right BUT the thing is: European cinema hardly sells, and unfortunately cinema is a business and you know so.
