  • if u grunted u wouldda had 5 more reps =p

  • It looks like you're lifting in a library lol!! Perhaps that's why you're so quiet bringing the plates back down to the floor!!

    Excellent work. Lovely smooth movement.

Roman DL though?? What's that? Surely not Romanian? Looks more like an oly DL to me.

  • Ha, ha, ha...yeah, I guess it kind of looks like a library, huh? I prefer controlling the negatives when I am repping out a weight.

Yes, this is a Romanian Deadlift.

Thanks for the comment bro! Nice deadlift video yourself!

  • nice

  • Thanks...

  • ...you didn't slam the weights down or grunt really loud. I didn't think this was possible.

  • Ha, ha, ha...yeah, I hear ya...I have seen mother's deliver babies making less noise then some guys in the gym...but whatever works for you I guess. I am not a screamer/grunter. I don't think it is necessary...

    Thanks for the comment.

  • @BRETZERR lol it's ok to grunt when your at the house.

  • Ha, ha...yeah, I guess I am just not a grunter...Ha, ha...

I'll have to work on that!

  • hey man great lift. I have never dead lifted, but have injured my lower back before. I'm only 16, do you think the chance of me re-injuring my back are pretty high if I start dead lifting? also, im 6'2" 185 and have pretty strong legs, so what do you think would be a good weight for me to start out at?

  • Thanks man.

Yes, deadlifting can be done very safely if you keep your ego in check and progress when the time is right. If you start out with 1 plate (i.e. 135 lbs) for 10 reps and then go from there. Add 30 lbs each time out until it is difficult to get at least 7 reps.

Keep your form tight the whole time and you're back will just get stronger from deadlifting. Also, do a lot of ab work to strengthen your core, which supports your back.

    Good luck bro...

  • ok. thanks a lot man

  • Impressive

  • Thanks man...I appreciate the comment.

  • so are you gonna try and hit 405 bench this week since your taking a few days off the bench anyway? I bet you could do it.

  • Probably not this week as I just had a volleyball tournament and my joints are a bit weak at the moment. Hopefully soon though...

  • If you supinate one hand, it could help. Also try dead lifting faster on the way up.

  • Thanks for the comment...I do them that way (supinated) every once in awhile, but I am not a big fan due to the imbalance it puts your body into...and because I am not competing.

    Thanks for the tips though...

  • Not bad! I too am working hard at them. I am continuing my cycle on them for my next meet coming up in a little over 5 weeks!

  • Thanks bro...I saw your vid's and your deadlift looks solid - congrat's! Keep training hard and you're going to get 500 lbs in competition. Rest that bicep...

  • Nice set, those looked good.

  • Thanks Cyrus...they felt pretty good for not deadlifting in awhile. I am going to start this up and see if I can get to 600 lbs. It gives me something to do while I am resting my chest!?!

  • looking good!

  • Thanks Mark...I appreciate you taking the time to watch this vid. Good luck with the recovery - you're worldclass bro...

  • Good job Randy! I used to get 8 reps with that ( no straps) when I used to deadlift. The straps make it a lot easier. That is really good to get 10 reps when u never do them.

  • Thanks Mark. This was my first official deadlift workout on the road to a 600 lb deadlift. All in all, I didn't want to go too heavy and I plan to keep the reps in the 5 to 10 rep range for the first month or so and then go from there...

I hear ya on the straps...I don't like deadlifting with a mixed grip because I feel off balance, so the straps work great. If I ever decide to compete I will work without the straps then...until then...straps it is...

  • very strong, good job, man your deadlift must be over 500 now easy

  • Thanks Dario. Yeah, my back felt pretty good on these; it felt pretty light. I probably won't test myself for a month or two...I just wanted to slowly work my way back into deadlifting. But like I said before, once I hit 400 lbs on the bench I will definitely focus a little more on this lift...by then...you'll be deadlifting 650 lbs!

  • great power and endurance

  • Thanks man...I appreciate it. Hopefully more to come from the old deadlift...time will tell.

  • Thanks Kaz....I appreciate it.
