It really makes me laugh that people are here comparing her to other singers acting like they know what they're talking about, when in reality they just look like over zealous fan boys/girls.

i just really guess (just maybe) that her E6 at around 2:41 was a falsetto register but not on a full/chest voice. but, that was really a strong full B5's she did. first time to hear like no strain sound. wide range! cool!
As the description dictates "E6 right near the end (2.40 - 2.41)! That's what some would call within the whistle register". I don't think that you can define the range by the note. I think it depends on the texture and feel of the voice. I can hit a B6 on the best of days, and that is just peaking into whistle.
Why are you guys comparing Regine to her? There is NO FUCKING WAY that Regine could possibly do this! A good comparison would be between Vanessa and a Finch. :))))
Vanessa is the ONLY singer who can go into those full high notes using full chest - all other singers need to use their head voice.
Even Mariah has to stop and go into head voice before she can hit those super high notes.
Vanessa glides into hers with the greatest of ease and accesses them and the results are flawless. I've never been a fan of those 'Dog notes' but with the right song - only Vanessa could make me change my mind.

Many artists have done that actually and although vanessa is a great artist she sorta resorts to mixing for no reason whatsoever I've heard her sing iknow for a fact she can hit a A5 in pure chest but hasn't. And Kelly Clarkons once only touched c6 was fucking tiny in comparison to the 6 or 7 recorded c6's by Vanessa and db6. Fantastic voice. An instrument like hers, that can easily vocalize more than 3 octaves in a totally connected manner, like an opera singer (as opposed to having huge holes between their belting and falsetto/whistle) is extremely rare. Christina, Leona, Mariah cannot even compete with an instrument like this one. Only Patti Labelle, Aretha before she got fat, and Monica Naranjo.
No, the point is that in pop people just flip out of chest voice to falsetto, there's no mixed voice as it is in opera, but Vanessa for example and few other ones that I mentioned, can sing up to high C in a connected voice without ugly breaks or flips.
Of course I didn't mean that it would sound terrible if pop singers sing opera, they normally have the right tune (if they are successful pop singers ;-) ) but opera singers seem to have more strength in their voice and their vibrato sounds much better. Their voices are trained to be very quiet or very loud even without a microphone. No doubt a pop singer can accomplish that, though I think the sound will be weaker, if they have to sing very loud for a very long time without a microphone.

Christina and Mariah both have a HUGE whole in their vocal range though, between their highest belt and whistle register. Singers like Patti Labelle, Vanessa, Monica Naranjo, etc, have a fully connected voice with no holes in between.

REgine's voice even in the highest registers is exquisite. This is why I like Mariah Carey too. No doubt Vanessa's voice is really high! But to be honest her highest notes are not really in full chest. They are in mixed voice. And like the voice of Aretha Franklin, Vanessa's voice gets irritating to the ears sometimes especially in the high registers. Minus the irritating high register of Vanessa, she is a very talented singer though.
everybody uses head when the get to around G#5! its just that some know how to apply the right amount of pressure to it to make it sound more like chest voice! if you are too relaxed or not putting the right air pressure on a mixed note......it will sound thin and like its fake, but if you do a scale where you are coming out of a lower chest note like @ 2:06 until 2:11 you can make a clean transition to head without it sounding thin and screetchy! regine has no control to me....shes all over!
definitely Regine will eat Vanessa alive on stage...it's not just about belting but controlling those powerful voice of theirs...and to that aspect,they'll both brings the roof off but then Regine will serenade most of the people while Vanessa will scare them off...and Vanessa can't really belt out live and most of her live performance is not as clean as Regine's...

Nah, Vanessa shits all over Regine. Not only does Vanessa have the stratospheric belting range, she also has a powerful midbelt as well....something that Regine lacks. Not to mention, her voice is far more interesting and unique.
The only singer who really sustains these kinds of notes this effortlessly is gospel legend Karen Clark Sheard. Who is known to hit G5s and C6s like this.

Yeah, Vanessa's E6 wasn't whistle (even though it's technically in the whistle range)...it's connected head voice. That's why she was able to scale down back into chest voice without any break. That is TEN THOUSAND times more impressive than falsetto or whistle, since you can actually COUNT that note as part of her CONNECTED VOCAL RANGE!

Fantastic voice. An instrument like hers, that can easily vocalize more than 3 octaves in a totally connected manner, like an opera singer (as opposed to having huge holes between their belting and falsetto/whistle) is extremely rare. Christina, Leona, Mariah cannot even compete with an instrument like this one. Only Patti Labelle, Aretha before she got fat, and Monica Naranjo.

No, the point is that in pop people just flip out of chest voice to falsetto, there's no mixed voice as it is in opera, but Vanessa for example and few other ones that I mentioned, can sing up to high C in a connected voice without ugly breaks or flips.

Of course I didn't mean that it would sound terrible if pop singers sing opera, they normally have the right tune (if they are successful pop singers ;-) ) but opera singers seem to have more strength in their voice and their vibrato sounds much better. Their voices are trained to be very quiet or very loud even without a microphone. No doubt a pop singer can accomplish that, though I think the sound will be weaker, if they have to sing very loud for a very long time without a microphone.

Christina and Mariah both have a HUGE whole in their vocal range though, between their highest belt and whistle register. Singers like Patti Labelle, Vanessa, Monica Naranjo, etc, have a fully connected voice with no holes in between.

I agree that her voice is definitely different than Christina or Leona's....it's more rough/rock-ish whereas Christina and Leona have more of a smooth/r&b voice. Vanessa is definitely talented; she just has a different style.

Vanessa's vocal competitors are Delta Goodrem,Amy Pearson and Tina Arena..Regine isn't prominent out of Asia and she certainly isn't from Australia..so these Regine comparisons don't even matter.Btw, you Regine fanatics love to pick apart other female singers.But just look at her cover of Kylie Minogue and Micheal Jackson.She can't sing upbeat songs.Message me when Regine writes something herself instead of singing Karaoke.

REgine's voice even in the highest registers is exquisite. This is why I like Mariah Carey too. No doubt Vanessa's voice is really high! But to be honest her highest notes are not really in full chest. They are in mixed voice. And like the voice of Aretha Franklin, Vanessa's voice gets irritating to the ears sometimes especially in the high registers. Minus the irritating high register of Vanessa, she is a very talented singer though.

everybody uses head when the get to around G#5! its just that some know how to apply the right amount of pressure to it to make it sound more like chest voice! if you are too relaxed or not putting the right air pressure on a mixed note......it will sound thin and like its fake, but if you do a scale where you are coming out of a lower chest note like @ 2:06 until 2:11 you can make a clean transition to head without it sounding thin and screetchy! regine has no control to me....shes all over!

definitely Regine will eat Vanessa alive on stage...it's not just about belting but controlling those powerful voice of theirs...and to that aspect,they'll both brings the roof off but then Regine will serenade most of the people while Vanessa will scare them off...and Vanessa can't really belt out live and most of her live performance is not as clean as Regine's...

Yeah, Vanessa's E6 wasn't whistle (even though it's technically in the whistle range)...it's connected head voice. That's why she was able to scale down back into chest voice without any break. That is TEN THOUSAND times more impressive than falsetto or whistle, since you can actually COUNT that note as part of her CONNECTED VOCAL RANGE!
