...why not use the mew glitch of 2003 and catch it in red blue yello (or green if you can get your hands on it)than transfer it....just dont risk the transfer with green...you may become a slave trader then. i made that mistake once with a trad between green and blue. the kakoona turned into a tentacool, and the pokemon i sent turned into a little red haird girl. for people using vba(like me) follow the steps

1) click on cheats and then cheat list

2)click on gameshark button and then paste it as it is

3)click ok!

note-after doing it walk in grass and pkmn u see would me mew and sometimes mew would apeear in a disorderd form but dont worry after u catch it it will be alright.and aftr ur don dsabl cheat

Technically, you could utilize the Pokemon cloning glitch, and make sure to have a Pokemon you're cloning carry a spare Pokeball. You could use that glitch to obtain all three starters without trading (though you will have to breed with two of them because they will not be entered into the Pokedex).
