i have that camera i got it for my birthday last year and i use it sometimes for my animations and it pisses me off but it is a pretty good camera when i got it it was 200 dollars because i asked my parents for an 800 hundred dollar camera because it looked like forrestfire101's camera when i should of got a 400 hundred sony mini dv camera but about the actual one you are talking about , it is good but when u say unlimited macro is that on the second setting or the third?
That would be good for longer battery life. But you wouldn't be able to see what you were recording, because the TX1 doesn't have an optical viewfinder.
RED-EYE: If you half press the shutter button to focus for more than a half second, the red-eye lamp extinguishes and the pupils will not remain dialated by the time your shutter goes off. You must half press, compose, focus, release, tell the subject to lok right at the red lamp, and just take the shot.
The TX1 is the most powerful camera that can fit in my pocket. I learned the manual, learned the camera, and have taken more pictures and HD movies than I could have without it. Swivel rules!
Look - the people doing all these reviews dont even read the 160 page manual that comes with it. If you learn how tho use this camcorder camers you'll realize that for the money and size its amazing! I have had mine for 6 months. The stereo sound is good- and internal editing good and the batteries on Ebay cost only $7.. . Buy a small mono pod .What other camcorders have HD with 7.1 MP photos?
hey chri, i watch a lot of ur videos and they have all seemed to help me a lot, so thank u for that and also i was wondering if i could get ur opinion on the canon powershot sd1100 is, i have been doin a lot of research and asking at stored like best buy andcircuit city, and it seems like that is really the front runner as far as compact point and shoot cameras that arent in some rediculous prise range. so yea i would love to know how u feel on the subject, plzzz and thankyou
I am a tx1 owner and I HATE the red eye as well! lol but I am actually looking to sell mine (financially difficult time in my life) do you have a suggestion for how much it should cost used but in perfect condition?
"Set the [Red-Eye] function to [On] and shoot (p.35). For this mode to be effective, the subject must be looking right at the red-eye reduction lamp. Try asking them to look directly at the lamp." p. 120 of Advanced Camera User Guide.
The red eye lamp vanishes quickly so you must compose your shot first, ask the subject to look at the red lamp when it fires and press and shoot.
I bought a tx-1. Yes the redeye is horrible and when i fix it on the camera itself the eyes look dont look too much better so i fix it on picasa, photoshop. There is a tx-2 coming out?
He isnt wrong. a 4 gig gives 14 minutes... but guess what. An 8 gig gives 30 minutes. And a 16 gig, like the one I have, gives an hour of the highest quality.
he's not convinced, but he sounds like he wants to be. what does that tell you? That thing is just too small to be any fun..if the LCD monitor is too small, i dont want it..although the 10x optical makes me look twice..u can get one at bestpricecamera for a 300+ im getting a 40D eos
Is it possible to have it not record in HD? For example, can you control how good of quality you record in? If not, what is a digital camcorder in which you can? Thx!!
After being in the market for quite a while I made the transition from film into the digital realm. Needless to say I did my fair share of research before hand and decided on the Canon Powershot SD630. At the time of purchase it was indeed one of the best on the market, in my opinion. Canon mean reliable and the features are sparkling.
I use a FujiFilm FinePix s602Zoom, its about 5+ years old but still working really well. Too see some of my pictures with this camera go to:
darkally.googlepages com/
ps the video was not taken with this camera but I did edit it.
One comment about the switching of aspect ratio for Chris between video and camera mode. Yes post production is lots of work but a 7MP picture is huge, you can crop it down back and forth between 16:9 and 4:3 with little loss in quality.
That clicking sound is sorta annoying, but from what i saw (very quick moment) it was accually the lens cover, and not the accual lense itself.
I personally have a PowerShot A640. 10MP, great feature set- and its all in a nice small package. I also have a less used Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi. I love the digic processor, its got fast startup and image processing, which to me, is very important.
Chris, you should post process you videos (probably can be done also in live broadcast) and deinterlace them. Whenever you move your hands a lot of horizontal lines appear...
I've heard that if you have the people in front of the camera look just to either side of the lense, then the Red Eye isn't much of a problem. Can anyone confirm that?
I use a Kodak Easyshare V570. For 5 MP, it takes great quality pictures. It records video in quicktime. I have a 1 Gig memory card in it that can adapt to long videos, although if I record more than 3 minutes, it goes over youtube's 100 mb limit (unless I convert it). I've recorded 15 minutes of video with it, and it processed it all within 5 seconds. Great camera. My experience with Cannon has also been great.
Is there an external microphone port? How good is the built-in mic?
Is there an external flash port?
I'm currently using a PowerShot A95. I'm very happy with Canon. I'm looking to upgrade, but I also want an HDV camcorder that will record two hours. Maybe a separate digital camera and camcorder would be best for me?
the tx1 doesn't show how much battery u have left! And the button is a little hard to push but other than that i really like my tx1

With 4GB SDHC card, you can take 14 minutes of HD video(720p).

First you said you take care of your hardware, then you said something about putting your camera in your pocket.
With all the lint and shit in your pocket, i wouldn't consider that taking good care of a camera ...
you talk to much too

"you talk to much too"
Yeah he does, but at least he's doing the video.
I have one of these gems; you can't put it in a case and THEN into your pocket.
I agree with not putting a camera into a pocket.

Great review, i to like pocket cameras i also
had the S2-IS but it was getting a little heavy
the smaller the better.
Right now i am using a canon powershot A710 IS
awesome camera, pocket 6X zoom and Wide Screen Photos.
And the videos are as good, as the S2 but in mono not stereo.
And for HD movies An Aiptek Go HD great video but
poor mono sound.
