"I would now argue, in the light of the debates and evidence following 'Hitler's Pope', that Pius XII had so little scope of action that it is impossible to judge the motives for his silence during the war, while Rome was under the heel of Mussolini and later occupied by the Germans." - John Cromwell 5 years after the publication of his book.
Well, what I'm wondering is why a self-identified atheist, like yourself, would be so sympathetic to jews. I mean, aren't THEY just another breed of religeous God-nuts to you ?
I realise that this may seem strange to you. Just because I am an atheist, does not mean that I do not care about the welfare & rights of other people, religious or otherwise.
@freetheworldof Well, it's just that on your channel page you say "rid the world of religion". Well, wouldn't that include judaism? .. after all, it's a religion.
@spyroxxm Wishing that the people would discard religion does not equal wishing to kill every one who is religious. What sick and twisted inhuman logic would that be (oh right, that of YHWH, no?)?
Five years after the publication of Hitler's Pope, Cornwell wrote: "I would now argue, in the light of the debates and evidence following Hitler's Pope, that Pius XII had so little scope of action that it is impossible to judge the motives for his silence during the war, while Rome was under the heel of Mussolini and later occupied by Germany."
The evidence hardly points to him being quiet either. He did speak out once, against Nazi germany in particular nazi racism, althought not Hitler or the holocaust directly. However, when he did, Hitler revoked the protection that was previous promised to jews who had been babtised. And Hitler then intesified persectution of the churches. Its quite commonly understood the only reason he didn't do more, was he was afraid to do more harm than good.
But then again its also understood that he helped save thousands of jewish people, during WW2. I really don't understand where this "Hitlers pope" myth came from.
For Saint Augustine the State should just prepare the best enviroment of the gain of heaven and the first condition is the survival of the church. This is the problem in the first place.
