  • Awesome dude... Keep up the great playing.

  • thats ok until you got time to do it properly

  • keep practicing your legato. you'll get there eventually. the phrasing and timing both sound good, which is the most important thing.

  • Yeah!

  • WOW !

  • I loved it fantastic playing and tribute ignore the negatives keep it coming

  • shit

  • What pedals are you running through your amp?

  • I'm running POD XT Live with Marshall based model w/ WahWah effect.

The amp is in the clean channel on the Mesa Dual Rectifier.

  • God job !!

  • well done hard song

  • very good guy

  • Dont give up your day job.....

  • Haha dude I'm not trying to be a douche but i honestly hate anything fender. It just doesn't fee right ya know? I had to deal with one for like 2 and a half years until I bought my new guitar. But anyway great playing man! Do a cover of horizons by Parkway Drive :P Keep on rocking out bro!

  • nicely done man!

  • awesome ! you rocks dude

  • that was heaps good !!!! i play guitar and i want to learn that song, how long did it take you to learn it ? how hard is it ? nice work !!!!

  • I learned it an hour. Just make sure you really play the song and listen to it alot. Watch my video if you don't believe me that i can do it.

  • not bad at all , keep playing that song and you 'll nailed it. Love your guitar !

  • no tone you fail. lol

  • That was Awsome!! That was really an impressive piece of work! Nicely done amigo!

  • Because some people, like myself, like to see people cover songs. =P

  • @Benzie1233

why are you watching it then. Think before you try to insult people. Idiot.

  • Very Clean, GJ!...

    also nice mesa!

  • hahaahahahahahahaahaahahaha lol xD

  • Nice playing son! Too bad YouTube fucked the sound quality :(

  • Kickass guitar and pickguard.

  • yeah are 7 strings... wow... cool...but the sound is very mute...sorry for my english i am of venezuela...saludos =)

  • nice gear need a little more practice though

  • Is That 7-String ?

  • NICE

  • you have to mute at the intro

  • prefection

  • RIGHT ON !

    Great Job !! Very DOPE

  • awesome cover! The only thing that bugged me was the soft attack, but that's probably due to youtube's compression. Awesome! (nice guitar too :)

  • Wow great job man! I just posted a version myself. I hope you like it!

    Dave (PDXguitarfreak)

  • mad decent man!

  • I have that head!

  • hahaha a steve vai guitar playing satch stuff, well it looks like a universe maybe or something like that which steve vai used, could you tell me what guitar it is?

  • hehe... you are correct. It's a Steve Vai UV777. I'm gonna sell this on eBay soon since my main axe these days is the Strat. :)

  • ur gonna sell an ibanez... so you can play a fender... sorry, thats a fail.

  • What the hell r u talking about I have to admit Ibanez is a good guitar brand but nothing can compare to the beautifully awesome tone and classic of a fender strat.

  • thats just a personal preference right there. Me i love my ibanez for some stuff and i love fender for some stuff

  • More mids needed. Really should have studied Satriani's EQ for a bit.

    Great playing nevertheless.

  • is a mesa n all, there generally quite scooped amps.

  • Very nice job man!

  • Hey man, well done, ur really good, i just wanted to comment on your playing although you are far better than me but i think u can become very very awesome, it would be much better if u play with a little bit more emotion so we can really feel it, thats all and ur awesome.

  • ah but sometimes with some people the emotions throw people off abit

  • By emotion, i mean for example the difference between david gilmour's playing and yngwie malmsteen's playing. see where im getting at, it doesn't fully apply to this case because hes not as fast as malmsteen but when gilmour only plays one fuckin note and bends it, ahhhhh. Satriani plays this with a little more feeling, i didn't mean to cry and get emotional while playing, just more feeling :D!

  • Im tired of hearing people say play with emotion. Thats bullcrap. You dont know what emotionless playing is. Just cuz Yngwie plays fast dosent mean he dosent have emotion. You want to see emotionless playing go look at Pasterofmuppets channel.

  • pas mal but u need to adjust your tone....plus warm and plus wah....

  • nice job man 5/5!

honestly i like a fender strat better than a ibanez..honestly its all about what personaly feels good to you..les pauls are okey but honestly i like the feeel of the fender better..when it comes to acustic breedlove all the way ( although i cant afford one) (lol)

  • Lately I've become a strat man myself. My les paul, ibnez's aren't getting the love they once did. I've already sold one ibanez and will be selling the other soon. I have a Gibson sj-200 tobacco burst for acoustic and love it. I'm getting rid of my mesa's and getting egnater renegade when they are released.

  • veryy gooddddd

  • Not many people have the 7 String JEM on here, I love that guitar.

Bravo, nice cover as well, sir.

  • just a question. u like that guitar? i mean how good is it? im looking to switch to ibanez

  • The JEM series Ibanez are a class above most guitars made in US or anywhere in the world. Their craftsmenship is truly awesome and far better than their mainstream Ibanez's that sell for under $1K. This model is 7string, so it's an acquired taste. If you've got big hands or don't mind having your hand stretched, you should be fine.

  • holy crap!! nice guitar

  • Exceptional fretwork!

  • 7 string ibanez my proffesor from guitar has it!!!

  • you seem bored. lol

  • WOW. Nice 1.

Every boys dream to play like that. It was mine anyway.

    I could have been somebody.

    I could av bin a contebder. . .

  • soy de argentina queri saber de donde sacaste la pista ?

  • totally out of tempo, but if you get that right you're almost like Satch xD

    keep working, you're good

  • Not bad a little slowly played ?

  • yeah, the tempos slightly off.

  • es una mierda

se nota que no tocas vos

    pelotudo la concha tuya

  • matate

  • dude killer Jem!

  • Universe*** :DDD

  • oh shit my bad! haha it just looks similar

  • you got very good tone and a super nice guitar lol, i'm planning of getting it...

  • is that a universe?

  • Yes. It's a UV777, 7 String Steve Vai signature model.

  • very nice just al lil bit faster

  • It's a 7-string, huh?

  • this amazing (elgua can stop being jealous) considering you arent joe himself its seriously reallllllly good. keep rockin

  • You kind of suck at this song. Sorry bro.

  • for the part at 1:11, do u need a whammy bar for it, because with my guitar, it can't tap that part out, and be heard at the same time. so, how do u tap it/play that part?

  • The technique is called "trilling": a series of hammer-on & pull-offs back to back. In this case, left ring finger is holding the 21st fret while the right hand is using the side of the pick to tap on the 22nd fret. The trick to getting louder sound is to flick the string with the pick when lifting off in down-flick-up motion. Also, try turning up the gain on your amp/distortion box.

  • i must be the only person in the universe to trill pick with the bvery tip of my pick

  • thats godly

  • Hi John, first of all - excellent playing.

One question, can you tell me what notes you were playing on your left hand at 0:57 when you did the harmonics with the whammy bar. I see different people doing different things at this part in particular. I saw Satch's instructional video and again most people do it different from him. I am having great difficulty trying to get the effect for this part. Thanks for your help

  • Satch's signature method is to use Pinch harmonics on an open string (G or B) with right hand while using his left hand to change pitch by whammy bar.

What I'm doing here is little simpler. I'm using natural harmonics on the 4th fret on #2 & 3 string (left hand) while changing pitch with whammy bar with right hand. Doesn't take much effort. Hope that helps.

  • Thanks, thats useful. i've decided to use natural harmonics on the 24th fret but when I strike the strings on my right hand I try to screech with artificial harmonics and at the same time using the whammy.. not sure if it makes sense. But I posted part of the video here. Feel free to comment

  • 1:11 lol my guitar wont let me do that ...o well

  • Are you sure? You only need 22 frets for that bit. I'm pretty sure that's the standard size.

  • Nice seven string

  • wow u guys are complete assholes comenting shit about this vid lol i bet u cant even do the 1st 10 secs of the song lmao. i mean jee let him feel good about himsealf!

  • metallus i agree with u but i think everyone can do the first 10 seconds, its nothing except that noise that sounds like an airplane taking off lol

  • Technically excellent, but completely devoid of emotion or soul.

  • null and void mate....null and void

  • is the intro "technically excelent" ?

  • AWESOME!! Thanks for the treat.

  • Why does his guitar have 7 strings?

  • ...Because it can

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.

    You win the internet.

  • because its a 7 string guitar :P

  • that is not the proper question , the proper question his ''How LOW can you go ?''.

Needless to say this axe looks fuckin' seriously sharp !

  • lol, idiot

  • awful intro

  • too slow tempo there dude......

  • ok. i got it. ur a big help. thx

  • how do u do that thing at 1:11?

  • while your left hand is fretting notes in descending fashion, your right hand is using the pick to tap the 22nd fret. if you look closely, you'll notice that my right hand is moving up & down to tap w the pick.

  • putaquipariu!legal! 5 stars dude!

  • great playing and great amplifier, mesa boogie is amazing amps,i have mesa rocket 44 combo and i love it.

  • coooooooooooooooooool....wow

  • coooooooooooooooooool....wow

  • need to lower the other instruments a bit, n maybe a little less effects. otherwise, good version.

  • Joe Satriani can play that better than you !! check him out on you tube....... ( just kiddding )

  • very nice:D

  • good but tabs are wrong at intro harmonics

  • nice!!!!!messa rules!!!!!

  • nice playing, bro. sweet guitar, too, i have one myself!

  • How is that amp? I am thinking of getting one

  • I was initially looking into the Marshall's but they didn't have quite enough 'umph' that I was looking for at the time. Marshall has the classic British sound (EL34 tubes - more mid range and chime at the high end). The Mesa Dual Rectifier, on the other hand, has 6L6 tubes which gives more of an "American" high gain sound. The Recto 4x12 Cab is a few inches taller and heavier which gives a much deeper & thunderous low end roar without farting or sounding muddy.

  • I see, thank you very much. Good video by the way

  • uber cool

  • dude...ur one rich bastard aren't ya?

nice playin' btw so you deserve it xD

  • very good man , I have seen your cover of always with me always with you ,yo should change your distorcion there , but this cover is perfect

  • Very good.

  • this is great, but it needs palm muting in the beginning

  • Nice fuckin Axe

  • Is that a mesa?

  • yep a three channel recto head.

  • how much are thoes guitar i was thinking about getting my self a 7 string

  • um...maybe too much chorus?? hey nice job.. see mine!!

  • sweet dude

  • I have one of those guitars on order. You make it look and sound great. That's superb rendition of Satch's song.

  • nice guitar, good playing

  • How many years of playing did it take to get that good I wonder(?)

  • Great playing for sure. Need to seriously work on your tone though, IMO :)

  • Love the Guitar looks cool.

  • is that a tripple rectifier head?

  • It's a Dual Rectifier with 3 channels.

  • means satrianis version... satrianis the satch

  • But I think the underlying question in your mind is, is this guy for real or is he guitar syncing? My playing is WYSIWYG: just my guitar & video cam. No multiple takes, edits, or doctoring up the video. That's why I take it from beginning to end with no edits so you see all my quirks and flaws. If you want to see me just playing my guitar, just ask. I'd be more than glad to play a tune for you.

  • Great vibrato man! I love seeing people with good vibrato.

  • People have their own reasons for doing what they do. I would love to play with real musicians, but unfortunately, I'm not with my band any longer. Thus, playing with background music is the next best thing.

  • you know i doubt any of these videos are legit. Why do people allways play them with the drums going? makes you wonder. alot of people play different songs without the backing. so i doubt anyone is actuall yplaying. apart from the satch one

  • What do you mean by "satch" version?

  • Satriani's nick name, SATCH

  • i get it....apart from when he is actually playing it ha

  • Excellent job. How long did you work on the song and what did you use for the background music?

  • How do you do your satch squeals? Aka the sound that annoys the hell outta neighbor cats.

  • The UV777 is an amazing guitar. The bindings run not only throughout the body but extends all the way to neck & headstock. The craftsmanship on this guitar is awe inspiring. I love the trem on this, it's like butter and you can pull both directions. The 7 string takes a bit of getting used to, but once you do, a six string may feel funny.

  • how do you like that universe? would u recommend someone buy one?

  • Wow you gotta be rich or a kamikaze spender to have a mesa rectifier head! Ooooh doesn't it sound lovely though, what pedal are you using?

  • I've got a simple setup. For effects I have POD XT Live & Dunlop CryBaby.

  • Nice!, I got a POD too, can you please tell me which effects did you used?

  • nice ~

  • nice, but you can give more for us with that setup man!!

  • Absoulately! Good job, but i expect from a guy who has such a such gear... Nice at all (:

  • cool, great song, great cover

  • wick3d!

    sz

  • nice guitar mate

  • the 2nd solo was all wrong and the first one sounded a little bit weird too, but overall you got it dude!

And damn nice guitar and amp! That is definately not your problem ;)

  • good technique there mate :) just about to get a universe myself, gona have to play through a cube for now tho :(

  • You're really good... :D

  • nice guitar,nice amp,nice playing

  • very very very good! ;)

    hope to see some more...!

  • I couldn't tell if it's Joe playing or not, coz I couldn't see the face..

  • That was me, not Joe. I'll take that as a compliment, thanks! :)
