  • yes my friend has one its an awesome gun !

  • i have always wondered if a carbine could have a bayonet

  • @akkudakkupl its more than that . It has 3 buffer springs that were talor made for it has a fireing rate of 1,100-1,700 it has a enlarged gas tube and it almost has the same relibatly as an AK (yes i splef reliablety wrong)

  • hickok, you rock man

  • I want to buy one, how much (about) and where would be a good place to get one (gunshow?) thanks!

  • Hickok, what would you suggest for my first rifle? M1 Garand or M1 Carbine?

  • @hickok45 how much is one of those jewels?

  • \ˈkär-ˌbēn, -ˌbīn\ - Pronounced with an accentuated i, Carbean, other carabine (carabean).

Ignore @MrGta12367, and Thanks for the video.

  • For some reason I fancy the M1 over the Mosin, size is perfect.

  • wish people remembered the M231

  • @steelwolf411 the port firing gun? Why? It's just M16A1 without buttstock...

  • hey i must say u make some awesome you tube clips i like how u just dont shoot shit out of stuff u talk about what ur shootin an give some real good info then go to town shootin stuff an i really like ur setup u have down there i would like to make something like u have cuz driven to the range is a bitch. up here in N.B canada theres more BULLSHIT RULES then u can shake a stick at lol

  • it has a round bolt on it that was for m2 carbines that were full auto

  • o hai!

  • This guy would make a great father in law!!!!!!!!!

  • Thanks for making a video about it

  • Well done video and thanks for sharing it. I'm in the process of getting myself one of these classics.

    Stay safe,

    Tom

    Retired U.S. Border Patrol

  • your not under powered with a .30 carbine

has 3 the knock down of a .357

  • :D.........

  • The only WWII weapon i have is a mauser kar 98,

  • I heard stories about the carbine not being able to kill Germans wearing winter uniforms, you ever tested anything like that?

I'd test it out myself but unfortunately I'm British so the police welded the mechanism closed on mine :<

  • A Marlin Model 68 has that type of bolt locking pin.

    I have one ^-^

  • i want one of those sooooo bad!!!

  • AMT made the Automag in .30 carbine, they are pretty sweet

  • HOLY CRAP I ALMOST FLAGGED THIS VIDEO AS INAPPROPRIATE!!! OTL X'( YYYYYY

  • WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE M1 AND THE M1A1

    THANKS

  • @GregTheRussian47 Nothing, just the M1A1 has a folding stock for paratroopers. From what I heard, only Inland Mfg Div. of General Motors Corp. made the M1A1.. I don't know if that is true or not, but the stock is the only real difference. Any US GI M1 receiver will fit in the M1A1 stock.

  • man that ww2 version has a few different features than my universal civilian model

  • William's had almost nothing to do with the final design of the carbine he just incorporated his short-stroke piston into the design.

  • i have 1 they r awesome

  • Great video. I just bought a National Postal Meter with an original Marlin barrel refurbished at the Atlanta Arsenal post WW ll. A real GI carbine with no after-market parts for $300. I've been wanting one for years!

  • I love the way he pronounces carbine.

  • @history436 ther discontinued bud, lookin at around 850-1600 depending on the condition

  • looks almost like the M14

i wonder why they not just made the thing bigger for rifleammo during ww2. seems like a logical thing to do

  • I here the 30 cal. is under powered compared to the MINI 14 223/5.56 round.

  • very fun gun

  • Do an M1 Carbine chapter 2 video with a breakdown!

  • @MrGta12367, Do you feel better now. Have you ever even HELD one? :-)

  • @hickok45

Thank you for producing a video with the CORRECT pronunciation of the word carbine!

  • @MrGta12367 Carbine, Carbean. Garand, Garend. It doesn't matter how you pronounce it.

  • @MrGta12367 Seriously what's your point?!

  • @MrGta12367 I bet accented people love being around you.

  • @MrGta12367 I though carbine was pronounced "Sar-byn-eh"

  • @MrGta12367 such a critic bitch

  • @MrGta12367 Quit being such a pronounciation nazi. Your comment doesn't even make grammatical sense. Before you worry about him saying the word in an ACCEPTED manner, worry about learning English grammar.

  • @MrGta12367 i think he knows more about it than you do, otherwise you don't have towatch this video. but oh well, your only gun knowledge probably is from gta or call of duty maybe

  • Cool video I love that gun my brother got it for Christmas

  • I have a question. My question is what gun should I take into World War 3. Because everybody I know is preparing for it and it says in the bible we will have three world wars. I picked out three guns the M1 carbine, the Russian mosin nagant, or the mini-14. Which one should I buy.

  • @Confederate12341 PLEASE Shut The Fuck Up.

  • @DeathCabDriverx you dont need to use bad language I was just asking a simple question.

  • @Confederate12341 So ignorant.

  • Man i love the crickets in the background! can't beat the country lol.

  • Weak, a hit with a 22 is better than a miss with a 44.

  • Excellent gun to introduce youngsters and newcomers to rifle shooting and a great instruction rifle for fieldstripping and teaching how a semiautomatic rifle functions. Probably every shootingclub here in the Netherlands has at least one in their collection that members can use. A joy to shoot.

  • For someone who feels they dont shoot that rifle that well you certainly punished the soda army that had encroached on the compound.

  • 12:12 i was like damn

  • I heard the price of the carbine has really gone up since the Obama administration disallowed South Korea to sell/ repatriotize something like 700,000 of them in America because of the 30rd. magazine. bummer

  • @Mr22Twain Yeah I hate that man...I WANT A CARBINE!!!

  • Hey love the videos and I was wondering where would the best deal for an M1 be? I went to a major gun show with class 3 dealers, and the cheapest was $800. I looked up on gun broker and saw bids up to $1500! Awhile ago they were 80 dollars. Can you help me.

  • i should be make my homework, but i cant stop watching your videos.!!

    xDD

  • Just got my "really historical piece" yesterday. It's an Inland made in 44. I can finally scratch it off my list and can't wait to give her a dance out on the range.

  • @jaysterb1 Sweet dude what did you pay for it?Im only asking because I have a guy looking for me right now.I hope you dont mind.

  • @WW2Paratrooper506 I paid $600...that's about ballpark in my area but some are a lot more. I guess it wasn't a great deal or anything but about avg. Of course, I will have to invest in all the accessories for it now : ).

  • Very cool my uncle gave me his m1 carbine its very nice lightweight easy to carry. Love the sound that it makes!

  • I love the m1 carbine so much. I just wish the .30 carbine wasn't such a piss poor cartridge expensive, rare, underpowered for it's size, ect. If only they made one in 30-30 or 7.62x39.

  • @DirtyFrigginHarry If you know where to buy .30 carbine its pretty cheap, or you could load some lead rounds i guess. At 100 yards the little bullet is traveling at 1,567 fps and still has 600 ft. lbs. of energy. Thats pretty good. The .30 carbine holds a tighter group past 100 yards over the fatter 7.62x39 in most cases. Ive used my carbine in Montana on ground squirls and it worked great, lol

  • My grandpa used this gun in Korea. I showed him this video and he loved it! Keep up the good work.

  • Videos couldn't be more informative like all if them can you tell ma where to get one of the original not refurbished m1 carbine would really like one

  • Is there supposed to be a last shot hold open with this gun? Anyone?

  • Thank you for the videos, sir. I'm glad you talk about the history of some of the weapons you showcase. Very informative.

It's cool how you make the steel plates sound off. URAH!

  • Malcom X had one!

  • @T55Storm he sure did!

  • My grandfather gave me his Underwood M1 Carbine. My favorite gun. Beautiful, beautiful weapon.

  • would you recomend this rifle for hunting?

  • Bro i saw you on tv. It was some retarded show "worlds dumbest" or something of that sort. Kinda pissed me off cause i know your knowledgeable as fuck

  • @dstrong1337 god you're only the millionth idiot to mention this, go learn proper english because all you managed to do was make yourself sound inbred.

  • @shadowsteel5 Do go on.....

  • Comment removed

  • @altoona701, Sorry, we don't tolerate bigots here.

  • Same here

  • I thought WWII M1 Carbines didn't have that bayonet lug.

  • @Theakker3B Blame the "assault weapons" bans for destroying historic, finite firearms.

  • @Theakker3B They didn't. However after WWII they began upgrading them with a different safety selector, adjustable rear sight, and bayonet lug.

  • And where?

  • How much did u get this one for??

  • Can you all shut up about the pronounciation of the word? Both are correct and you guys mean the same thing. What difference does it make? I'm American and I say car-byne. Stop caring about how you say it and be more concerned about the functionality rather than the name.

  • I read somewhere that this was Audie Murphy's favorite Rifle in combat.

  • Still would rather have a garand. Or a thompson.

  • @MrTEXAN79 M1 carbine is the lightest to carry out of those. But under many other conditions and reasons a garand or tommy would sound nice to carry in ww2

  • Ballistically this is a .357 Magnum fired from a rifle barrel. Very effective to about 250 yards, light, ergonomic, and simple. Personal opinion: Best combat rifle ever made. I love mine (A Singer from WW2).

Nice video, thanks for making it.

  • You're in Nashville? Your at least in the south. I hear the Cicadas... I am in Franklin.

  • Also, once again mate: top notch vid. Cool guns, got the shooting as well as lots of history and info on it!

  • wow..could you imagine having to get that close to stick someone with that bayonet?

  • love how americans pronounce it "car-bean" :P

  • @ktockly i say carb-eye-ne and im american im proper XD

  • Hey Hickok, Ive found a very nice National Ordinance M1 at my local pawn shop for 399 or 499, I forget, however, it looks brand new, not a scratch on it. Should I consider it?

  • @foughtwolf Its probably a remake if its in that good of shape, hence the good price.

  • @foughtwolf 399 to 499 hmmm RUN BACK AND GET IT

  • This is one of my favorite rifles, So fun to shoot with.

  • i have seen vids where the m1 ammo capacity and the fact that it is so easy to reload make it an excellent close to medium range weapon . extremely low recoil along with rapid , accurate , suppressive fire means you will be able to close the distance engage your target in an urban warfare scene .

  • Can I have it? :D

  • Fun to shoot but I would never want one for a duty weapon. Grandpa made all 4 combat jumps with the 82nd. Said on a few occasions they were issued them. He told me (and I read other accounts) that they would trade/get rid of them asap. To many horror stories of them not stopping the enemy.

  • How do you say combine?

  • Out of curiosity, have you ever had any failures to feed with your M1 carbine? I know someone who can't get his to feed five rounds in a row. Of course, his is a Universal...

  • @Graywolf1354

Sounds like he should have his feedramp and/or magazines checked.

  • I thought I heard that .30 carbine is similar in power to .357 magnum. In any case, get hit with it twice and you're down. The carbine was supposed to replace the 1911 by adding range but keeping versatility. The round size helped. The mortar guys and guys with other jobs than infantry had this. Similar in purpose to the artillery LP-08 Luger in WWI for the germans. I love my 1-43 Underwood. Never jams even with steel casings.

  • @mrpreserveourcountry

welll.....yes, from a rifle the little carbine round is similar in power to a 357 from a pistol length barrel. Fired from a rifle, the 357 gets sufficient velocity increase to crap all over the carbine round. All things being equal, the 357 is much more powerful. When fired from a short pistol barrel the 30 m1 Carine round is pretty puny compared to 357 performance.

  • Awesome video thank you

  • If that .30 cal. round don't stop someone, i'm shure the bayonette will.

  • Man I miss the woods every time I watch your videos.

  • were you a ww2 veteran

  • don't forget about the AMT Automag III in .30 Carbine

  • Car-bean ,Carb-ine

I care more about how well you shoot it and maintain it than the way its pronouced, either way you say it as long as i know what your talking about.

  • I don't understand the design purpose of this rifle. It's cartridge makes it terrible vs other rifles in the same era. It's penetration ability is terrible and if they were trying to make a compact weapon. Why didn't they just design a .7.62×33mm caliber sub machine gun?

  • @Sun6Tzu millitary had dyes and such for the bullets allready .at least thats for the m1 but carbine...

  • hello, i would like to ask you a question... could you do a video of you shooting targets very far away, a mile or so maybe..?

  • Great video. I love your stuff. I just became interested in guns and archery about a year ago and I have learned so much from you and a few others. You do a great service. My Grandfather was a radio-man in the Philippines and Japan during WWII. He carried one of these when he was there and was given permission to bring it home. Unfortunately, my uncle inherited the gun when Grandpa die and pawned it. You can imagine my disappointment, but I picked up two of my own. They're beautiful!

  • The paratroopers also had a version with a folding stock and a sort of pouch that can hang from their belt for them to put it in.

  • Europe is my guess.

WOW it must have cost you thousands !

    Thanks for the video !

  • M1 Carbine >M4 Carbine.

  • @JamesBayCree97 maybe in reliability, but not in stopping power

  • @Skitzo520 But definitely in coolness!

  • was the mini 14 based on this somewhat

  • @njmvermont No, it was based on the M-14.

  • if i was in ww2 i woul want this gun

  • i think its pronouced as is its spelt, car-bine, but i dont know...

  • The word 'Carbine' comes from the French, Carabinier. It is pronounced with a long e, i.e. carbeen.

  • @stuntmanmike37

but you dont mow a field with a combeen

  • @puddinhead99 lol. No, however, looking at the route word, combine comes from combination, therefore that's how you pronounce it. Carbine though, comes from carabinier, or carabinero in Spanish, which I'm sure is said with a long e, not a long i. Most old timers say carbeen, so that's who I took my ques from.

  • @stuntmanmike37 As a Brit I pronounce it Carb'y'ne. Americans chose English as it's language, but not England as their master, so America can speak anyway they please. Even if the they do sound a bit too French for their own good.

  • @verfugbarkite Lol. I'd rather be a Brit than a frog any day. But I do like to have correct pronunciation for the origin of a phrase or word, even if the route of the linguistics came from the wrong side of the channel. Haha.

  • Hickok45 can you do a review of the "Swedish K" (Carl Gustav M/45)?? would love to see what you think about it :)

  • i love this guy

  • hickok you wouldnt happen to have an fn fal? thats my favorite weapon and i'd love to see you shoot that!

  • i have one, not as powerful as i like my guns

  • are there any rattlesnakes over there ?

  • man, I love how damn informative vids like this are, & not just entertaining. Thanks Hickok45

  • I have a 1943 with mostly GM parts, the weapon my Great uncle carried in WWII in the battle of the bulge

  • m1 carbine vs sks video please? :D

  • isn't it pronounced carb-eye-ne?

  • @fobsternd, Yes, if you say it that way. :-)

  • @hickok45 lol. when my dad was in the korean military, he told me that they used the carbines for training. he pronounced carbine, "car-bean", like you say in the video. and my dad has a pretty thick korean accent. haha

  • @hickok45 He's referring to the English (UK) Way of pronouncing it. It doesn't matter.

By the way, Love your shows.

Greets and respect from England! Life is good.

  • @fobsternd yeah thats how i pronounce it , i live in australia and everyone here does too

  • @DigitalFl0w Is that also how you guys say sardine?

  • @stuntmanmike37 no we say sar-deen :)

  • @DigitalFl0w Okay, so there you go! :D

  • @fobsternd if you want to sound like a re re

  • Comment removed

  • @fobsternd How do you pronounce chlorine, sardine, or submarine? Do you say sub-mar-eye-ne? I don't think so.

  • @stuntmanmike37 how do you pronounce combine?

  • @fobsternd Combine is pronounced combyne, but the word carbine comes from the European word carabinier, which with all do respect, the root word is pronounced carbeen.

  • @stuntmanmike37 That wasn't your original case. You asked me how to pronounce 3 words that all ended with -ine and presumably justified the pronunciation of "een" as for all words that ends with -ine.

  • @fobsternd I was using those as examples but was not declaring all words ending with -ine are pronounced "een". You assumed that. And you know what happens when you assume? You make an ASS out of U and ME. The fact remains, carbine is pronounced "carbeen". End of discussion.

  • @stuntmanmike37 I'm guessing you assumed that I emphatically believed that the only way to pronounce carbine is carbyene and maybe not carbean. Maybe YOU shouldn't go assuming what other people believe in before making a tool out of yourself.

  • @fobsternd Just say the fucking word correctly and not like some COD fanboy faggot, okay?

  • @stuntmanmike37 umadbro?

  • @fobsternd uanidiotbro?

  • @stuntmanmike37 Wikipedia says it's pronounced both ways. Don't mess yourself.

  • @fobsternd

It's pronounced Car-Bean in American English, Car--Byne if you're from someplace else.

  • @Blahblobify If you can speak English it's pronounced car-byne. At the end of the day there is English not American English get it right.

  • @mutsnuts1989

Maybe YOU should get it right, LOOK IN A DICTIONARY.

Both pronounciations are given as correct stupid.

In America we say car-bean. Unless you're a poser putting on airs.

  • @Blahblobify Yes but the language you speak in America is English so at least pronounce the words correctly and not make up pronunciations.

  • @fobsternd who cares?

  • @fobsternd The term "Carbine" comes from the French cavalry. The weapons they used were shortened muskets called Carabiners. In French it is pronounced "Care-a-bean"... the clips they used to attach the weapons to their horse was known as a "Carabiner" as well... today we still use these clips. "D" rings, or as we call them are Carabiner. Now... if someone called a D-ring a "Car-a-bein-er" we would look at them like they were nuts. haha The proper way to say it is "Car-bean"

  • call of duty WaW

  • is it good for hunting

  • @TheYamahaboy11 no its not strong enough. sure it works like u use to be able to hunt a deer with a .22 but it wasnt effective and it cause the animal pain most of the time it never bled out. sure it will work its just harder to do

  • what do you get more enjoyment out of shooting? The m1-carbine? or The mini-14.

  • You need to dress up in a sweet suit with a tie. It must be black silk complete with black suede shoes and a black fedora. Your weapon: Tommy Gun.
