You need more substrate and remove the sharp pointing particles that look like wood chips. Cobalt Blue Tarantula (Haplopelma lividum) is a burrowing specie that needs lots of substrate to burrow in. A Cobalt Blue in the open is certainly stressed and may eventually die if not allowed to burrow. A 1"-2" spiderling will need to burrow even more.
Don't worry, I'm well aware of a sutiable environment for the Cobalt. I got the Cobalt as a surprise gift so I didn't have any terrarium prepared ahead of time; as a result I had to put together a temporary critter carrier with ample supplies.
The critter carrier had 3 inches of substrate (not enough I know but all I head), and the spider eventually made a fully enclosed burrow.
The video was filmed the same day I got the Cobalt; so it was temporary. Thanks for your concern!
how do you transfer the colbalt blue? i have never handled it myself but im going to have to clean its enclosure i am dreading this...
