One of dave's best song. every year, as far as i can remember, he has attended the annual Stan Roger's Folk Festival, here in Canso Nova Scotia. and everytime he plays this song. i swear every person there stops what they are doing and starts singing this song. i am fortunate enough to sit down, and talk with dave, he is a really nice guy, and a person that you really dont forget. i hope that you all get a chance to talk and meet dave. cheers to you all!
The drum is a bodhran, traditional Irish drum. Usually played held in one hand and struck with a either the fingerstips and heel of the other hand, or a small (4-5in) double-ended drumstick
dave came to my school today to talk to my music class about song writing and recording. he played us multiple peices and this was by far the one that reached me the most. It's a really moving peice
@superfly232 Hi, lucky you and I agree with what you said and thats why this beautiful song had me in tears..a very moving story, that only Dave Gunning could do justice to...

I know what a bodhran is. lol It's just the first time I see it being played like an odd snare drum on its side.

Even better than when I heard it live in Peterborough 2007. I don't know how this guy remains so unknown.

@superfly232 He did the same for my class. He just stayed there all day and I talked to him after his presentation. He's a great guy to talk to.
