This video is garbage. Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ alone. Romans 4:5. Luke 8:50. Ephesians 2:8-9. Romans 5:1. Galatians 3:26. Romans 3:28. Galatians 2:16. John 3:16.
@jacksmack77 You, then, clearly don't know how to read. Find one place that says baptism is a work of man, and not of God. Then, when you die, and God is about to send you to Hell, do tell Him that baptism was YOUR work and see what He says. I know I'm being smart here, but I'm serious. Find just one place that the Bible says baptism is by any effect OUR work. At the same time, explain John 3:5.
@jacksmack77 you are absolutely right and to add to that we do the works BECAUSE we have been changed in our hearts to a christ like mind and we bear witness by baptism, just as two people who get married before others and confess their vows, so we do in the lord jesus christ through water baptism.
@thesymbolist1 then Christ, Peter, Paul, Ananias and Barnabus were devils. "“This meaneth, that we indeed descend into the water full of sins and defilement, but come up, bearing fruit in our heart, having the fear [of God] and trust in Jesus in our spirit.” recently discovered Epistle of Barnabus.
"Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’" Acts 22:16. after Paul had already confessed Christ and been preached at and fasting for 3 days.
Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began
@thesymbolist1 this passage is a reference to the "holy calling", not the gospel plan of salvation. stay tuned for my next video where I prove that this "baptism after salvation" doctrine never even existed until last century.
@thesymbolist1 a. King James was a freemason. his sidekick Sir Bacon or whatever his name was littered the original KJV with occult, freemason symbols.
b. there were 80 books in the first KJ "cannon", until the Protestants reduced it to the current interesting number, and called it the "Authorized" King James Bible.
c. I didn't say the epistle of Barnabus was a book of the Bible any way. but it is 100% consistent with the Bible, and I"m sure you're aware of Barnabus's position.
This video incorporates several methods of deception and qualifies as indoctrination, seeing as no evidence to the contrary is examined, vis Cornelius, et.al. receiving the Holy Spirit PRIOR to water baptism. The HS is the guarantee of our salvation. This church would conclude God would have removed His HS if they had not been baptized in water, and effectively makes God out to be a liar. This gospel is a false gospel. Salvation through faith is redefined; repentance is redefined.
@1lightdweller were the apostles not saved before they received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost? were the elders of Israel not saved before the Holy Spirit fell on them in Numbers 11:25?
First of all, who ever created this video is a heretic. He plucks verses or the Bible to support his notion. He interprets them outside the context. That's not how one should read / use the Bible.
@simplyuniq provide some proof. we'll talk about it. ""And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’" Acts 22:16. what else should one conclude about a water baptism after reading a verse like that?
God is concerned with the heart of a man, and his intent. When Jesus taught baptism, he was refering to making an outward show of an inward repentance, that had already happened in the heart of the newly converted. And this baptism (outward show) was not for God's benefit, but as a witness to others, as a sign that they were not ashamed of Christ.
First of all the opening scripture in this video purpposely arranged to avoid true contecxt. Put two lines of scripture together that are separated by 5 verses & you risk losing context. To put James 2:19 & 24 together is not how scripture was designed to be translated.Scripture interperates and if you read the entire chapter it is clear that what is being said is works is a byproduct of salvation which is a byproduct of faith. Abraham's was justified by his show of faith/obedience to God.
@sixthday132 try "purposely arranged" to make a point. the context totally supports this point. "What does it profit... if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?... faith by itself... is dead... I will show you my faith by my works. Was not Abraham... justified by works." "those who have done good, to the resurrection of life..." Jn. 5:29 if you say you have faith but you don't do good, you don't have faith at all. "the dead were judged according to their works.."
We Must Obey New Covenant Gospel Of Jesus.1 Cor 15:1-4 Mathew-John Was The Old Testament Gospel For Jews Only. Mathew 1:21 Mathew 10:5-6 Mathew 15:24. It is a Damnable Heresy to Teach Mathew-John describing Jesus B4 The Cross as New Testament. Mathew 5:17-18 Mathew 7:12 We Abide In The New Covenant Law Of Liberty James 1:25, Not The Law Of Moses Jesus Taught B4 The Cross. John 6:38 John 7:16 Verses 2 John 9-11 Rom 3:19-21 Rom 10:1-6. Can't Be Much Plainer Than That.
@tonoklein An antitype is a symbol. I guess you didn't catch that part. And you left off the last part of the verse where is explains that we are really saved by the resurrection of Jesus. So you ignore that Peter says baptism is a symbol and we are saved through appealing to God with a good conscience...interesting gymnastics.
@tonoklein Don't you kind of think that's stretching it, to say that being in a boat upon water, is a type of baptism? Shall we then conclude that Jona's experience, was a type of baptism? Or Peter walking on the water? Truly, I'm not trying to be contentious; like you, I want to know the truth. You make some good points, but I can not believe water baptism is essential to salvation, just as Jesus said we were to "confess Him" after conversion...not to seal it, but as outward proof. in love.
@88momart Neither I nor Peter claimed Noah’s ark was a baptism. Clearly, nothing was “immersed” in that story. The type/antitype is referring to the relationship between water and salvation. Like the water salvaged Noah and his family, water acts in like manner with our souls in the new covenant. And don’t get me wrong – the water is not the power, it’s just a catalyst. And you can believe water baptism is essential, if you want.
Confession is required at conversion and the rest of our life.
@88momart no passage on water baptism states or implies anything but that it is necessary. that's the equivalent of unbelief. Mark 16:17 makes it clear what happens to unbelievers.
I just treasure the truth, and I will counter all misnomers and lies with the truth. The very essence of a debate is contention, which I certainly don’t enjoy. I hate it. Was Jesus being “contentious” with the Pharisees?
@88momart Romans 6:3-6 and Colossians 2:12 make it really clear – if you want a new life, you need to put to death the old one, in the watery grave. Christ got His new life in the grave. So do we.
@mnickles89 "that is Holy Spirit baptism! it happens the moment someone gets saved. " 1. when a type of baptism is mentioned, and the HS is not mentioned, it's not the baptism of the HS. ask any preacher
2. Numbers 11:25-26, when the HS fell on the Levites, were they not saved before it happened?
when Zacharias and Elizabeth, in Luke 1, were "filled" with the HS, were they not saved before it happened?
when the HS fell on the apostles on Pentecost, were they not saved before it happened?
@tonoklein One only needs to acquaint them self with Acts Chapter 19 and conclude that in honesty The Baptism in The Holy Spirit is a separate experience, these people were already saved, they were believers, they were re-baptized[ baptizo],[Greek meaning fully immersed] again in water, this time into The name of Jesus, they were then filled, baptized in The Holy Spirit,a separate experience, enduing then with The Power to live The Life and boldly spread their testimonies.
@tonoklein man bro i live in Mumbai, India.catholic churches are there .even though im christian and my family is part of a church .we have never gone .i never knew a thing about Christianity other than Jesus and Christmas .i got saved a year back...but going and getting a baptism done is out of the question cuz the church is so weak here man..people don't know anything of the bible just pray very hard when they are in church.what can i do.? I am a part of no denomination...me+YT+Bible+Jesus
@warzoneG5 sorry for the delay my friend. if it's close enough, there is the Bandra Church of Christ in Mumbai. they should be able to help you learn the Bible in context. if it's not close enough, you can start your own congregation and build up the other believers in your area. watch the rest of my videos and visit the links in the description box if you haven't yet. that should help you understand the basics and how to study the Bible to get context on any subject.
amen you see? that is Holy Spirit baptism! it happens the moment someone gets saved. water baptism is an outward profession of an inward belief much like circumsision to the jews
@mnickles89 really??? you have to physically "arise" to be baptized by the Holy Spirit? was the baptism of Acts 2:38 "in the name of Jesus Christ" the baptism of the Holy Spirit? so every baptism mentioned in the New Testament is the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
Paul called on the name of the Lord on the road to Damascus. look it up. according to your inconsistent doctrine, he should've been saved right then and there and would've had no need to "wash away" his sins days later.
ok can i ask what about the thief on the cross that Jesus told would be with Him in paradise? and what about paul in 1 corinthians where he says he came not to baptize but to preach the gospel? if baptism saved me then Christ wouldntve had to die for my sins. baptism does nothing except be obediant to the will of God.
does 1 Corinthians negate the necessity of a water baptism altogether? no, the focus of that verse is the gospel. without the gospel there are no water baptisms. he preached the gospel, others could carry out the baptism. it starts with the gospel.
Christ had to sacrifice Himself for our sins. He just used water baptism as the catalyst to forgiveness...
..."this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the REMISSION OF SINS". when does He apply His blood to our soul? "let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the REMISSION OF SINS." it takes both. time to cast off the one dimensional thinking.
like Naamen the leper,
like Noah and the ark,
like Aaron and his sons,
like Pharoah and his army,
God has a thing with water and redemption/cleansing.
Wow! Way to take every single one of those verses outta context. Most of those verses were talking about Holy Spirit baptism. Water baptism does not save you. In 1 corinthians paul says Christ sent me not to baptize but to preach the gospel. The gospel is the power of God unto salvation, not baptism. Baptism is a profession of faith. Faith in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. You got these verses all confused man.
@mnickles89 "Most of those verses were talking about Holy Spirit baptism." - no proof. and how do you explain Mark 16:16 (obviously the same baptism as the great commission); and Acts 2:38 (be water baptized to RECEIVE the HS)? "Baptism is a profession of faith." - nowhere stated or implied in the Bible.
we are saved by GRACE THROUGH FAITH but a faith that is without works it's a false faith also MANY people get baptised and profess CHRIST but are not saved only those who are called and elected will produce the fruit of the SPIRIT once the gift of saving faith has been given you are saved baptisim is a by product of that faith because anyting done without faith it's sin yes including baptisim not human faith but GOD GIVEN FAITH
Anyone looking to attend a church of Christ, please listen to what is taught and compare it to what the Bible teaches. Don't just use the KGV version, compare what other translations say. (NAS, NIV, ESV) I love my brothers and sisters in Christ, but it is sad to think that they believe that I am not saved because the bible believing church I attend does not have church of Christ in its name. Please, do not regurgitate what someone says the Bible teaches, find the Truth for yourself.
@MsJenellis How much more scripture do you need? That’s all the churches of Christ do is point to scripture. They pointed out scriptures to me no else in 20 years of denomination attendance could. They used to be called them “Bible totin’, Bible quotin’” Christians.
If you add something to grace, it is no longer grace. Grace means God is doing something for you, and not you doing something for God. Cheers, from a former Muslim but now I am free in Christ.
Right Away you Take Verse 21 of James which states Exactly from the KJV Holy Bible.. Was not Abraham our father Justified by works, when he had offered Issac his son upto the Altar?
This simply Means that Any Faith that doesn't have the Cross as its proper Object is dead Faith
Right Away you Take Verse 21 of James which states Exactly from the KJV Holy Bible.. Was not Abraham our father Justified by works, when he had offered Issac his son upto the Altar?
This simply Means that Any Faith that doesn't have the Cross as its proper Object is dead Faith
acts 2:38- the word "for" is also used to mean "because of" throughout the Bible. It's not being dunked in water to be saved but baptized in the Holy Spirit. That's salvation. not going down a dry sinner and coming up a wet one
@ton so you disagree the word "for" can mean "because of?" Acts2:39 FOR the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.-- Remember, John Baptist said there's at least 3 kinds of baptism. Lk3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire-it's not always H20
@tonoklein you do realize that each hebrew/greek dictionary, lexicon and interliner all disagree w/ one another and each edition of the dictionaries, lexicons and interliners disagree w/ their previous one. Since you trust in man's definitions so much, how bout you explain how Cornelius and his household were saved FIRST, and then dunked in water. I've had Ch. of Christ pastors say they can't answer that. Nor shall you. Baptismal regeneration is a man-made, works based salvation.
@filoIII I trust in the original writings - 2 different words. Is your reliance on the English language any better than my reliance on lexicons that analyze the Greek?
I have answered the Cornelius point in past comments. You and cobalt292008 still have yet to provide book, chapter and verse for your (man-made) explanations of it. Besides, how is a water baptism "work"? It takes more work to hear the word than it does to let yourself down and up for 3 seconds. See :37 again. And James 2:24.
@filoIII a. Matt. 3:11 "baptism unto (eis) repentance." You get baptized because you have repented. not to obtain repentance. order is, "repent and be baptized."
b. Matt 12:41: "they repented at (eis) the preaching of Jonah the preaching came first,
c. Matt. 28:19: "Baptizing them in (eis) the name of the Father and of Son and holy ghos.
d. Mk. 1:9: "baptized of John in (eis) Jordon." Jesus did not come into possession of the Jordon River
...with no more sorrow or tears, OR DEATH (who has also been cast into the lake of fire) or pain, 'for the former things have passed away.' If Tribulation happened in the first century, and was seven years long, and the reign of Jesus in bodily form was 1000 years long (which Jesus in 'Matthew' says comes immediately afterwards), then we are on the wrong planet or about 900+ years behind where we should be. (Or maybe ALL the denominations AREN'T LYING??) What denom. is 'a church of Christ?'
As far as Revelation already taking place: where is the end result? Rev. 20-22 describes things that commence immediately after the Tribulation (cross reference Matt 24:29-30)? If all these things were fulfilled in the 1st century (about 1900+ years ago, then Revelation's timeline states that the Holy City (which is about 1400 miles long by 1400 mi. wide) should be on the earth right now! Satan should be in the lake of fire, there should be a new heaven and earth...
On Baptism: The elders were Jews, under the Old Covenant. Because of Abraham, and the fact they followed Moses out of Egypt, they were 'God's people' (plus Moses interceded with the Lord on their behalf.) God used Moses' anointing ('the spirit that was upon him') and spread it to the elders. The Apostles were obviously saved before they got the Holy Ghost. I thought you were arguing that me that me getting the baptism of the Holy Ghost BEFORE I was water-baptised was unscripural?
@CAUGHTUPALIVE1 I was, and you proved my point. Just like the apostles were saved apart from (before) receiving the baptism of the HS, so is everyone.
ACTS 10:44-48 has an instance of the Holy Ghost falling on believers before water baptism (not just one, but EVERY ONE that was listening to Peter.) As for what gifts of the Spirit do I possess? Faith, prophecy, discernment of spirits, wisdom, knowledge, the gift of speaking with other tongues. This is some, not all. There are gifts of Spirit-filled ministry that are not listed in 1 Corinthians 12. It says tongues and prophecy SHALL cease, not that they already had!
Didn't even know I got on this one - every time I tried to post, it gave me a message about 'comment pending approval'. Oh well. Daniel 12:7 refers to the Tribulation period in the book of Revelation (which hasn't started yet). Cross reference this with Rev. 12:14 - this tells of the antichrist's armies chasing the Israelites intro the wilderness. This scripture does not make any sense as far as proving your point. Try Mark 16:17-20. These gifts are available to BELIEVERS.
I watched all three of your videos (the Colossal Lies series) You say to be baptised, which is fine, but not necessary for salvation. In your second video, you say that the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is over already, but in Acts 2:37-38, Peter told the the believers who were lined up to receive baptism that they would ALSO receIve the gift of the Holy Ghost. In 1 Corintians and James, Paul and James were not talking to just apostles, but the THE WHOLE CHURCH. 'BAPTIST' IS A DENOMINATION, TOO.
What are these guys trying to prove? Salvation occours at the moment of belief. Baptism, though commanded, is not. Baptism is supposed to be a TRANSFORMATIONAL ACT, not a ritualistic one. You are supposed to leave your sins behind in the water. When I got saved, I had no chruch to got to for years. And yet, 12 years before I got water-baptised, God baptised me with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Oh, wait, on part two of this series, these guys claim THAT doesn't exist anymore...
@CAUGHTUPALIVE1 "12 years before I got water-baptised" - also unbiblical. find a convert in the book of Acts that wasn't baptized "straightway".
"and cast into the fire.... he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire." that was a reference to hell fire. "you" included believers and pharisees and sadducees.
@LDSfaithDefender no, I wasn't referring to mormonism. John Smyth is the founder of the baptist denomination. I am not teaching mormonism. I didn't quote from the mormon book once. you make false statements and then follow it up with making false accusations after I do nothing but quote a book you purportedly believe in? give me a break.
The bible can't contradict itself? It does it all the time. Bart Ehrman says the bible is full of contradictions and errors, and he ought to know after having gone to 3 bible colleges.
Galatians 2.....16 "Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 21 I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain."
@johnthreesixteen316 let me guess... you're trying to say that a water baptism is a work "of the law". now, answer this - what "law" is that passage referring to?
@johnthreesixteen316 you didn't, but those are the verses people repeatedly give me when I quote Mark 16:16 and others about water baptism. please specify for the world.
@tonoklein Hello friend. Water baptism isn't needed for our salvation. Our baptism in Christ is a spiritual one because of His sacrifice on the cross. Matthew 3:11 "As for me, I baptize you with water for repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, and I am not fit to remove His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
Act 10:44 While Peter was still saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell on all who heard the word.
Act 10:45 And the believers from among the circumcised who had come with Peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out even on the Gentiles.
Act 10:46 For they were hearing them speaking in tongues and extolling God. Then Peter declared,
Act 10:47 "Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"
@b1foschiefs difference between having the "gift" of the Holy Spirit and being "sealed" with Him. do you have gifts of the Holy Spirit? do you prophesy, lay your hands on people and heal them, or talk in languages you don't know? God placed the Spirit upon the elders at the same time, in Numbers 11:25. did that mean they were just saved then and there?
If you still want to go on, send me an email or something.
You have misled people, you love your creed but have not even mentioned that they must seek God, they must know him and his free pardon of sin. That he saves us by grace through faith, that Jesus shed his blood to wash away our sins, that God lifted him up just as Moses lifted the serpent (John 3) that whoever looks to the cross for redemption will be redeemed. Your belief system is shallow and spiritless, and the thief on the cross agrees with me completely. Jesus saves not water!
@b1foschiefs I love the word. The word (Word) IS God. They go hand in hand. How are you missing that? The thief on the cross WAS NOT COMMANDED TO BE BAPTIZED "IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT." Think. He was dead when the commission was given. Do you always compare yourself to people who lived under the old law?
My belief "system" is 100% God's word. You and denominations subtract from God's word.
@tonoklein Yoou are the one who fails to use Gods word in totality, you have yet to speak of the atonement of Christ and you are trying to teach BIBLICAL SALVATION! I have'nt subracted anything, in fact I told you in the beginning that I was hesitant to quote certain scriptures and leave out others as you had done, but you forced me. The baptism was instituted by God through John and if it was for regeneration Jesus would not have done it.The Great commision is a general command which came later
You have successfully pleaded the case of your denomination by applying a few scriptures in which supported your case. Which puts you in a group with Catholics, Jehovas Witnesses, Universalists and Pentecostals. The unwillingness of some people to read the entire Bible, instead focusing on a handful of scriptures and the tradition of their fathers is what led Martin Luther to call for much needed reform. It is not man we are following, it is scripture!
@tonoklein Genesis through Revelation. That is the problem today, people want to try to find an easy way to tell people how to be saved. Salvation has never been about taking a verse here and there and applying it towards a certain creed. I refuse to post 1 or 2 scriptures to try to prove my point because I run the risk of misleading someone who is on here trying to get the "quick fix" that the world tells about. There is no scripture that contains eternal life! However, Jesus does seek him!
@b1foschiefs So how are you telling me I’m wrong if you can’t provide passages to prove it? I never ‘said’ nor implied there is anything “quick” about salvation. The passages I provided make it clear that maintaining holiness is a life long battle. The thing is, there are 5 commands in that word - in the new covenant, not old - directly linked to salvation. See 1:02. What’s so difficult about it? Do them and obtain salvation. Skip any of them and see what transpires come judgment day....
@tonoklein Your creed here has belief and repentance listed first, that I believe is true. Are you sure that YOU meant to list them in that order? How come the Bible is not just five passages?
@b1foschiefs my creed? are you serious? I didn't write the book. yes, I meant to list the passages in that order. if you look at all the examples of conversion in Acts - the word is preached, the believer then repents of sin, is baptized "for the remission of sins", and then walks in the ways holiness for life . it wasn't written in 5 passages because you certainly can't contain that much history plus the ways of holiness in 5 passages. silly. think, dude.
@tonoklein I will never believe in your creed because I wasnt saved through baptism. I was given the Spirit before I was baptized, (Rom 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ) I knew God before I was baptized(Joh 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. ) I believed before I was baptized, and that is also in ALL the scriptures in your creed. My experience is not a creed, Its real!
@b1foschiefs ...A water baptism “for the remission of sins” is quite quick, but walking “in the light, as he is in the light” to have His blood cleanse “us from all unrighteousness” is not quick. So, at what point in time do you believe a person is born again?
Genesis through Micah was nailed “to the cross”. Do you try to keep the old law for your salvation? The old law never was meant to save. It was meant as a guide “to bring us to Christ”, and that the Israelites would “dwell in the land...
@tonoklein obedience to the Holy Spirit, which was planted in us and sealed Eph 4:30 until the day of redemption. When God begins an act he completes it. Eph 2:8-10. There is obviously much more scripture to that can be cited. Baptism is an ordinance, an outward display of what has taken place inside. God deals with the inward parts of a man, doesnt he? Did Jesus need to be baptized? No, it was an act of obedience. Then the Father testified of him and the Spirit also testifying of the Godhead.
@b1foschiefs "Baptism is an ordinance, an outward display of what has taken place inside" - lie. no where implied or outlined in the Bible. saved remission of sins wash away thy sins calling on the name of the Lord newness of life put on Christ buried with him saves Mark 16:16 Acts 2:38 Acts 22:16 Romans 6:4 Galatians 3:27 Colossians 2:12 1 Peter 3:21
@tonoklein True Christianity believes in the sovereignity of God. First he must change the heart. Matt 19:25-30, John 3:8 and many others. Without this transformation no fruit can be seen.Luke 6:33-35 and many others. Santification is Gods act of making you Holy. This is the continual process you keep talking about. It is true in Hebrews 12:14, but it does not mean that we present OURSELVES as Holy before him, but this is an exhortation to holiness as the writer is talking about .....
@b1foschiefs Since I haven’t clarified the difference between the other sects, Catholicism, and churches of Christ, I’ll take the opportunity to do a couple. Churches of Christ believe JC is God, so right away that eliminates JW’s. Catholics added the canon law, worship Mary, and baptize infants who have never sinned - all obviously wrong. Churches of Christ do “Bible things in Bible ways, calling Bible things by Bible names.”
@tonoklein Have you ever discussed Jesus with a JW? Or how about confession and intercession with a Catholic? These people can all prove their creeds by citing scripture, if you do not take the Bible as a whole than you will not see the falsehood behind their beliefs. I am certainly aware of the passages in the Bible which support baptismal regeneration, but I know better when put in context and within the light of other scripture.
@b1foschiefs you have yet to answer the question, exactly when a person is born again/ saved. "Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;". pretty clear cut huh?
@tonoklein actually I did, apparently it didnt make it through. I believe in the sovereingity of God in salvation. Joh 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." I was born again when the Spirit regenerated me! It wasnt until this happened that I joined his church and was baptized. Mat 19:16-30 God changes you!
@b1foschiefs There you go subtracting from the word again. The passage in John 3:5 you just tried to quote reads "Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of WATER AND the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." You weren't immersed "for the remission of sins." Therefor, God couldn't regenerate you - Acts 2:38. I know there is no power in water. It's just a catalyst.
@tonoklein You are giving an isogesis of the Bible. Read the context of John 3 & by the Spirit of God may you discern that Jesus is speaking explicitly of physical birth, physical birth as contrasted with spiritual birth. Jesus is addressing Nicodemus' regard as to the possibility of a person entering one's mother's womb again & being born again. The context & contrast Jesus is drawing is that of physical & spiritual birth, not that of legalist immersion in water outside the mother's womb.
This is so fundamentally wrong. The bible absolutely says by faith through grace so no one can boast. This video even used the verse and then used others to take it out of context. We should be baptized but i have personally seem ppl that could not be baptized yet were still saved by their faith through God's grace. Please do not listen to this. We must take the bible as a whole and not just the parts we want.
There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
So, who exactly is taking just the parts they want and disregarding the rest? It's you and the denominations. Find the proper definition of faith. The only people in heaven are those who have lived a life of holiness in their respective covenants. "pursue... holiness, without which no one can see the Lord".
Why are there so many different versions of the Bible? If it is the divine word of God, tooled by man, why would God allow such a "perversion"? His "word" can't be holy if it is so open to change. Kind of an uncaring, limiting God to allow such things, which are always represented by the Holy Spirit's leading. Especially when it results in the damnation of one's soul.
From what version - or perversion - are you quoting 1 Corinthians 13:4 "Love is not jealous."? The three I've seen so far say "Love... does not envy".
You claim some versions are "perversions'... which ones?
Envy and jealousy are basically the same. So, why the play on words? If I say "I am jealous of my friends new car.", it's the same as being envious. Envy may not be as harsh of a degree, but still God is jealous.
Why does an all-powerful, all-knowing, infinite God have such a human emotion? And how could an all-powerful, all-knowing, infinite God be jealous?
NASB uses the word "jealous", as do a couple others.
But, envy and jealousy are basically the same. Though envy may not be as harsh of a degree, God is jealous. Why does God have such a human emotion. How can an all-powerful, all-knowing, infinite God be jealous?
And why would God allow such "perversions" of his Holy Word? Doesn't seem holy if it can be read differently, always represnted to be Holy Spirit lead. Did God "pass the buck" for it to be tooled by man? Damnation is at stake!
@besidemymind "But, envy and jealousy are basically the same. " Close, but no. The context of Gods jealousy in those passages is in a zealous, loving way. Like a man toward his wife. The context of mans envy in 1 Cor. 13:4 is in a hateful way. The concordance adds the word hatred in definition 1a of envieth (zēloō) to be heated or to boil with envy, hatred, anger. Anyone with half a brain who claims to be loving wouldnt contradict their self so badly.
"Why does God have such a human emotion." "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness." Genesis 1:26
"And why would God allow such "perversions" of his Holy Word?" Its like He gave us the freedom of choice or something?
"always represnted to be Holy Spirit lead." It is, for those few who actually have the HS. But "narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." The scriptures sure opened up for me after I was baptized...
I agree with some of the things you say, however I can also see where you went off track. You are wondering how the bible contradicts itself. Well first off the bible is not God. Not everything written in our bible is the word of God. Solomon wrote money is the answer to everything. But Yahoshua is greater than Solomon. And you have begun to notice what the early Nazarene Christians did and that is that Paul is the apostate to the law and the prophet and dreamer Moses warned about.
When I've seen professing Christians committing grave sins it came to me that this false teaching about salvation through Faith alone must have contributed to their falling.
For if works, repentance, and how we live our life doesn't matter, Jesus already did the heavy lifting, it leaves me open to be even more tempted by my own desires. I've always fallen more easily when I believe the lie that I will get away with it without consequences.
John 6:29"Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of GOD, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent." Acts 16:30-31"...Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the LORD Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house." John 1:12"But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of GOD, even to them that believe on his name..."
I see, so the scriptures are just completely contradicting themselves all over the place. Again, see 3:15. And John 6:63 and 12:48. Its Jesus and His word.
Are you willing to follow this commandment? Luke 14:26"If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he connot be my disciple." Do you really think ALL scipture is inspired of GOD? How about this one? Luke 12:51-52"Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? I tell you, Nay; but rather division: For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided, three against two, and two against three."
Legitimate q's. I have no doubt that interpreters through the years have deliberately altered the word here and there to fit their own beliefs like this gem from Luke 23:34 - Greek and Latin-"forgive them not, for they know what they do." KJV et al - "forgive them; for they know not what they do." The passages you reference seem to be in harmony with 2 Jn 10 and 2 Cor. 6:14.But when we take a step back and look at the big picture...
... taking into account all the provocative and seemingly contradictory statements, you can see what the NT is getting at - forsake this evil world and cling to the church (His kingdom on earth). But you're right in that we need to be vigilant against misinterpretations. The English language itself can be deceptive when interpreting the scriptures from their origins.
@kcivts ///All scripture is inspired by God, However you need to know how to interpret it. If you can't, there is a translation you can live with which means the same thing. NOWHERE are you commanded to hate anyone. If you want to use that for a copout I suppose you can.
The just shall live by faith. Many have tried to remove the book of James(like Martin Luther)because it lacks authenticity. Also, faith is not baptisim. It's the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. If you hate denominations, look into the history of the catholic church & how THEY put the bible together. James shouldn't be in the bible (along w/ a few other things) & some things should be in the bible that are not.
The overwhelming theme of the Bible, every book, beginning to end, is obedience to the commands - whatever they are. Thats faith and trust in God. by faith Abraham obeyed.according to the commandment for obedience to the faith 5 are directly linked to establishing and keeping salvation, remission of sins and recognition in heaven - 3:15. There is no such thing as faith without obedience (aka good works). if ye love me, keep my commands. James is not one bit inharmonious with the rest.
Dcarley says it all. but i do agree at one point you are making, once saved we should not continue in sin, agreed:) but i do not agree on anything else i write this with love. in Christ, Brother Travis
Yes, we should be baptized as commanded to identify with Christ's burial and resureection....not so our sins can be forgiven The original language word for "FOR" was the same word used as someone who is advertised on a wanted poster. "Johnny is wanted FOR murder" Not so that Johnny can commit murder, but because he already has commited murder. The same is true for in this Acts 2:13 verse - we are to be baptized because we already have remission of sins. Study it for yourself.
Several errors: First: The thief on the cross was not baptized yet he was saved. Second: Satan and his demons do NOT believe in the saving grace of Christ. Yes they KNOW He is GOD but they think they can be greater than Him and refuse His grace. Simply put Jesus plus ANYTHING equals NOTHING. Jesus plus NOTHING equals EVERYTHING. As Christ said while on the cross "It is FINISHED."
@BillyBobAndCompany : No it is NOT. We are saved unto good works. That means because we are grateful to God for our salvation we will strive to do good works such as spread the gospel. Even then the bible says all our good works are as filthy rags! It is through faith in the sacrificed BLOOD of Christ that we are saved! He took upon Himself our sins and imputed HIS holiness and purity and righteousness unto us! We were bought with a price and that price was the blood of Christ! Maranatha!
Help me here bretheren - If by faith alone, as Luther called it, we mean faith with biblical definition and clarity. It is the definition or doctine of faith that is missing from many pulpits today. Am I right? Otherwise we mean 'faith' as simply believing in Jesus, and that is enough to save us, which it is not. The devil believes in Jesus too... Please comment
Correct. Romans 10:17 gives us the way to obtain real faith: "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." What is that word? A long, long list of the ways of holiness. For without holiness, "no man shall see the Lord." Heb. 12:14
Faith alone does not save; faith only does not save; water does not save; its faith in the blood of Jesus Christ that saves. Baptism saves figurativly-read 1 Peter 3:21. It does not remove filth (sin) its an answer OF a good conscience, meaning sins were already removed by faith in Jesus Christ, NOT FAITH ALONE (Which is heresy), but faith in Christ alone. Thief on cross died without baptism on THIS side of the cross because Jesus died before the thief which means Christ blood was in effect!
"It does not remove filth (sin)". It's a reference to dirt, dude. Dirty skin. Or else that passage would be directly contradicting Acts 2:38 and 22:16.
"Thief on cross died without baptism on THIS side of the cross". Before the great commission was given. Again, why compare yourself to him? YOU were given the command (not suggestion) to be baptized in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost "for the remission of sins". .
This video is garbage. Salvation is by grace through faith alone in Christ alone. Romans 4:5. Luke 8:50. Ephesians 2:8-9. Romans 5:1. Galatians 3:26. Romans 3:28. Galatians 2:16. John 3:16.
jacksmack77 3 months ago 2
@jacksmack77 You, then, clearly don't know how to read. Find one place that says baptism is a work of man, and not of God. Then, when you die, and God is about to send you to Hell, do tell Him that baptism was YOUR work and see what He says. I know I'm being smart here, but I'm serious. Find just one place that the Bible says baptism is by any effect OUR work. At the same time, explain John 3:5.
Xallia621 3 months ago
@jacksmack77 you are absolutely right and to add to that we do the works BECAUSE we have been changed in our hearts to a christ like mind and we bear witness by baptism, just as two people who get married before others and confess their vows, so we do in the lord jesus christ through water baptism.

thesymbolist1 6 months ago
@thesymbolist1 then Christ, Peter, Paul, Ananias and Barnabus were devils. "“This meaneth, that we indeed descend into the water full of sins and defilement, but come up, bearing fruit in our heart, having the fear [of God] and trust in Jesus in our spirit.” recently discovered Epistle of Barnabus.
"Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’" Acts 22:16. after Paul had already confessed Christ and been preached at and fasting for 3 days.

@thesymbolist1 this passage is a reference to the "holy calling", not the gospel plan of salvation. stay tuned for my next video where I prove that this "baptism after salvation" doctrine never even existed until last century.

thesymbolist1 6 months ago

1lightdweller 7 months ago
@1lightdweller were the apostles not saved before they received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost? were the elders of Israel not saved before the Holy Spirit fell on them in Numbers 11:25?
tonoklein 7 months ago
First of all, who ever created this video is a heretic. He plucks verses or the Bible to support his notion. He interprets them outside the context. That's not how one should read / use the Bible.
simplyuniq 8 months ago
@simplyuniq provide some proof. we'll talk about it. ""And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’" Acts 22:16. what else should one conclude about a water baptism after reading a verse like that?
tonoklein 8 months ago
God is concerned with the heart of a man, and his intent. When Jesus taught baptism, he was refering to making an outward show of an inward repentance, that had already happened in the heart of the newly converted. And this baptism (outward show) was not for God's benefit, but as a witness to others, as a sign that they were not ashamed of Christ.
88momart 8 months ago
@88momart I've heard it a hundred times but have yet to see any of that in the Bible.
tonoklein 8 months ago
First of all the opening scripture in this video purpposely arranged to avoid true contecxt. Put two lines of scripture together that are separated by 5 verses & you risk losing context. To put James 2:19 & 24 together is not how scripture was designed to be translated.Scripture interperates and if you read the entire chapter it is clear that what is being said is works is a byproduct of salvation which is a byproduct of faith. Abraham's was justified by his show of faith/obedience to God.
sixthday132 9 months ago
@sixthday132 try "purposely arranged" to make a point. the context totally supports this point. "What does it profit... if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him?... faith by itself... is dead... I will show you my faith by my works. Was not Abraham... justified by works." "those who have done good, to the resurrection of life..." Jn. 5:29 if you say you have faith but you don't do good, you don't have faith at all. "the dead were judged according to their works.."

@Rogueoftroy "a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 21 There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism". 1 Pet. 3:21.
tonoklein 11 months ago
@tonoklein An antitype is a symbol. I guess you didn't catch that part. And you left off the last part of the verse where is explains that we are really saved by the resurrection of Jesus. So you ignore that Peter says baptism is a symbol and we are saved through appealing to God with a good conscience...interesting gymnastics.
Rogueoftroy 11 months ago
@tonoklein Don't you kind of think that's stretching it, to say that being in a boat upon water, is a type of baptism? Shall we then conclude that Jona's experience, was a type of baptism? Or Peter walking on the water? Truly, I'm not trying to be contentious; like you, I want to know the truth. You make some good points, but I can not believe water baptism is essential to salvation, just as Jesus said we were to "confess Him" after conversion...not to seal it, but as outward proof. in love.
88momart 8 months ago
@88momart Neither I nor Peter claimed Noah’s ark was a baptism. Clearly, nothing was “immersed” in that story. The type/antitype is referring to the relationship between water and salvation. Like the water salvaged Noah and his family, water acts in like manner with our souls in the new covenant. And don’t get me wrong – the water is not the power, it’s just a catalyst. And you can believe water baptism is essential, if you want.
Confession is required at conversion and the rest of our life.
tonoklein 8 months ago
@88momart no passage on water baptism states or implies anything but that it is necessary. that's the equivalent of unbelief. Mark 16:17 makes it clear what happens to unbelievers.
I just treasure the truth, and I will counter all misnomers and lies with the truth. The very essence of a debate is contention, which I certainly don’t enjoy. I hate it. Was Jesus being “contentious” with the Pharisees?
tonoklein 8 months ago
@88momart Romans 6:3-6 and Colossians 2:12 make it really clear – if you want a new life, you need to put to death the old one, in the watery grave. Christ got His new life in the grave. So do we.

2. Numbers 11:25-26, when the HS fell on the Levites, were they not saved before it happened?
when Zacharias and Elizabeth, in Luke 1, were "filled" with the HS, were they not saved before it happened?
when the HS fell on the apostles on Pentecost, were they not saved before it happened?
tonoklein 11 months ago
@tonoklein One only needs to acquaint them self with Acts Chapter 19 and conclude that in honesty The Baptism in The Holy Spirit is a separate experience, these people were already saved, they were believers, they were re-baptized[ baptizo],[Greek meaning fully immersed] again in water, this time into The name of Jesus, they were then filled, baptized in The Holy Spirit,a separate experience, enduing then with The Power to live The Life and boldly spread their testimonies.

mnickles89 11 months ago
@mnickles89 really??? you have to physically "arise" to be baptized by the Holy Spirit? was the baptism of Acts 2:38 "in the name of Jesus Christ" the baptism of the Holy Spirit? so every baptism mentioned in the New Testament is the baptism of the Holy Spirit?
Paul called on the name of the Lord on the road to Damascus. look it up. according to your inconsistent doctrine, he should've been saved right then and there and would've had no need to "wash away" his sins days later.

ok can i ask what about the thief on the cross that Jesus told would be with Him in paradise? and what about paul in 1 corinthians where he says he came not to baptize but to preach the gospel? if baptism saved me then Christ wouldntve had to die for my sins. baptism does nothing except be obediant to the will of God.
mnickles89 11 months ago
the thief on the cross - 2:14
does 1 Corinthians negate the necessity of a water baptism altogether? no, the focus of that verse is the gospel. without the gospel there are no water baptisms. he preached the gospel, others could carry out the baptism. it starts with the gospel.
Christ had to sacrifice Himself for our sins. He just used water baptism as the catalyst to forgiveness...
tonoklein 11 months ago
@mnickles89
..."this is My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for the REMISSION OF SINS". when does He apply His blood to our soul? "let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the REMISSION OF SINS." it takes both. time to cast off the one dimensional thinking.
like Naamen the leper,
like Noah and the ark,
like Aaron and his sons,
like Pharoah and his army,
God has a thing with water and redemption/cleansing.
tonoklein 11 months ago
You got these verses all confused man.
mnickles89 1 year ago
@mnickles89 "Most of those verses were talking about Holy Spirit baptism." - no proof. and how do you explain Mark 16:16 (obviously the same baptism as the great commission); and Acts 2:38 (be water baptized to RECEIVE the HS)? "Baptism is a profession of faith." - nowhere stated or implied in the Bible.
tonoklein 11 months ago
we are saved by GRACE THROUGH FAITH but a faith that is without works it's a false faith also MANY people get baptised and profess CHRIST but are not saved only those who are called and elected will produce the fruit of the SPIRIT once the gift of saving faith has been given you are saved baptisim is a by product of that faith because anyting done without faith it's sin yes including baptisim not human faith but GOD GIVEN FAITH

We must first hear the Law to know we are sinners.
Then once convicted of our sins confess them in sorrow and contrition.
Realizing our need for salvation we run to Messiah Jesus and confess we need Him to save us from our sins.
We are baptized as an outward sign to all of the spiritual rebirth we have underwent inwardly.
We confess Him with our mouth and believe in our hearts.
We can do nothing without Him.
We take up the cross and follow Him to crucify and kill the sin nature within.

acts 2:38- the word "for" is also used to mean "because of" throughout the Bible. It's not being dunked in water to be saved but baptized in the Holy Spirit. That's salvation. not going down a dry sinner and coming up a wet one

@filoIII ok, so you've explained away that passage. how about the rest of them?

@ton so you disagree the word "for" can mean "because of?" Acts2:39 FOR the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.-- Remember, John Baptist said there's at least 3 kinds of baptism. Lk3:16 John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire-it's not always H20

@filoIII Those “for”s you mention are two different words in the original Greek. Look them up in a lexicon. Then find a better teacher.
tonoklein 1 year ago
@tonoklein you do realize that each hebrew/greek dictionary, lexicon and interliner all disagree w/ one another and each edition of the dictionaries, lexicons and interliners disagree w/ their previous one. Since you trust in man's definitions so much, how bout you explain how Cornelius and his household were saved FIRST, and then dunked in water. I've had Ch. of Christ pastors say they can't answer that. Nor shall you. Baptismal regeneration is a man-made, works based salvation.
filoIII 1 year ago
@filoIII I trust in the original writings - 2 different words. Is your reliance on the English language any better than my reliance on lexicons that analyze the Greek?
I have answered the Cornelius point in past comments. You and cobalt292008 still have yet to provide book, chapter and verse for your (man-made) explanations of it. Besides, how is a water baptism "work"? It takes more work to hear the word than it does to let yourself down and up for 3 seconds. See :37 again. And James 2:24.

@filoIII a. Matt. 3:11 "baptism unto (eis) repentance." You get baptized because you have repented. not to obtain repentance. order is, "repent and be baptized."
b. Matt 12:41: "they repented at (eis) the preaching of Jonah the preaching came first,
c. Matt. 28:19: "Baptizing them in (eis) the name of the Father and of Son and holy ghos.

...with no more sorrow or tears, OR DEATH (who has also been cast into the lake of fire) or pain, 'for the former things have passed away.' If Tribulation happened in the first century, and was seven years long, and the reign of Jesus in bodily form was 1000 years long (which Jesus in 'Matthew' says comes immediately afterwards), then we are on the wrong planet or about 900+ years behind where we should be. (Or maybe ALL the denominations AREN'T LYING??) What denom. is 'a church of Christ?'
CAUGHTUPALIVE1 1 year ago

CAUGHTUPALIVE1 1 year ago
@CAUGHTUPALIVE1 Danie 12:7 said the Baptism of the Holy Ghost is over already. if the gifts of the Holy Spirit still exist, which one do you have?

What are these guys trying to prove? Salvation occours at the moment of belief. Baptism, though commanded, is not. Baptism is supposed to be a TRANSFORMATIONAL ACT, not a ritualistic one. You are supposed to leave your sins behind in the water. When I got saved, I had no chruch to got to for years. And yet, 12 years before I got water-baptised, God baptised me with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Oh, wait, on part two of this series, these guys claim THAT doesn't exist anymore...
CAUGHTUPALIVE1 1 year ago

If a school bus full of children at the age of 5 years old crashes and they all die, Do they go to hell because they were not baptized yet?
This shows the fatal error of the belief that one must be baptized in full immersion to be saved.

Then Peter declared,
Act 10:47 "Can anyone withhold water for baptizing these people, who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?"
b1foschiefs 1 year ago

Jesus saves not water!
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@b1foschiefs I love the word. The word (Word) IS God. They go hand in hand. How are you missing that? The thief on the cross WAS NOT COMMANDED TO BE BAPTIZED "IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER, SON AND HOLY SPIRIT." Think. He was dead when the commission was given. Do you always compare yourself to people who lived under the old law?
My belief "system" is 100% God's word. You and denominations subtract from God's word.
tonoklein 1 year ago
@tonoklein Yoou are the one who fails to use Gods word in totality, you have yet to speak of the atonement of Christ and you are trying to teach BIBLICAL SALVATION! I have'nt subracted anything, in fact I told you in the beginning that I was hesitant to quote certain scriptures and leave out others as you had done, but you forced me. The baptism was instituted by God through John and if it was for regeneration Jesus would not have done it.The Great commision is a general command which came later
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
You have successfully pleaded the case of your denomination by applying a few scriptures in which supported your case. Which puts you in a group with Catholics, Jehovas Witnesses, Universalists and Pentecostals. The unwillingness of some people to read the entire Bible, instead focusing on a handful of scriptures and the tradition of their fathers is what led Martin Luther to call for much needed reform. It is not man we are following, it is scripture!
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@b1foschiefs ok then, enlighten the world with the Biblical plan to salvation, book, chapter and verse.
tonoklein 1 year ago
@tonoklein Genesis through Revelation. That is the problem today, people want to try to find an easy way to tell people how to be saved. Salvation has never been about taking a verse here and there and applying it towards a certain creed. I refuse to post 1 or 2 scriptures to try to prove my point because I run the risk of misleading someone who is on here trying to get the "quick fix" that the world tells about. There is no scripture that contains eternal life! However, Jesus does seek him!
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@b1foschiefs So how are you telling me I’m wrong if you can’t provide passages to prove it? I never ‘said’ nor implied there is anything “quick” about salvation. The passages I provided make it clear that maintaining holiness is a life long battle. The thing is, there are 5 commands in that word - in the new covenant, not old - directly linked to salvation. See 1:02. What’s so difficult about it? Do them and obtain salvation. Skip any of them and see what transpires come judgment day....
tonoklein 1 year ago
@tonoklein Your creed here has belief and repentance listed first, that I believe is true. Are you sure that YOU meant to list them in that order? How come the Bible is not just five passages?
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@b1foschiefs my creed? are you serious? I didn't write the book. yes, I meant to list the passages in that order. if you look at all the examples of conversion in Acts - the word is preached, the believer then repents of sin, is baptized "for the remission of sins", and then walks in the ways holiness for life . it wasn't written in 5 passages because you certainly can't contain that much history plus the ways of holiness in 5 passages. silly. think, dude.
tonoklein 1 year ago
@tonoklein I will never believe in your creed because I wasnt saved through baptism. I was given the Spirit before I was baptized, (Rom 8:16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ) I knew God before I was baptized(Joh 17:3 And this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent. ) I believed before I was baptized, and that is also in ALL the scriptures in your creed. My experience is not a creed, Its real!
b1foschiefs 1 year ago

It is true in Hebrews 12:14, but it does not mean that we present OURSELVES as Holy before him, but this is an exhortation to holiness as the writer is talking about .....
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@b1foschiefs Since I haven’t clarified the difference between the other sects, Catholicism, and churches of Christ, I’ll take the opportunity to do a couple. Churches of Christ believe JC is God, so right away that eliminates JW’s. Catholics added the canon law, worship Mary, and baptize infants who have never sinned - all obviously wrong. Churches of Christ do “Bible things in Bible ways, calling Bible things by Bible names.”
tonoklein 1 year ago
@tonoklein Have you ever discussed Jesus with a JW? Or how about confession and intercession with a Catholic? These people can all prove their creeds by citing scripture, if you do not take the Bible as a whole than you will not see the falsehood behind their beliefs. I am certainly aware of the passages in the Bible which support baptismal regeneration, but I know better when put in context and within the light of other scripture.
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@b1foschiefs you have yet to answer the question, exactly when a person is born again/ saved. "Men and brethren, what shall we do? 38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins;". pretty clear cut huh?
tonoklein 1 year ago
@tonoklein I did answer the question.
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@tonoklein actually I did, apparently it didnt make it through. I believe in the sovereingity of God in salvation. Joh 3:8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit." I was born again when the Spirit regenerated me! It wasnt until this happened that I joined his church and was baptized. Mat 19:16-30 God changes you!
b1foschiefs 1 year ago
@b1foschiefs There you go subtracting from the word again. The passage in John 3:5 you just tried to quote reads "Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of WATER AND the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God." You weren't immersed "for the remission of sins." Therefor, God couldn't regenerate you - Acts 2:38. I know there is no power in water. It's just a catalyst.
tonoklein 1 year ago

Galatians 3:27
For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
Colossians 2:12
buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God...
1 Peter 3:21
There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Do you believe Him?

Acts 22:16

So, who exactly is taking just the parts they want and disregarding the rest? It's you and the denominations. Find the proper definition of faith. The only people in heaven are those who have lived a life of holiness in their respective covenants. "pursue... holiness, without which no one can see the Lord".
tonoklein 1 year ago
Why are there so many different versions of the Bible? If it is the divine word of God, tooled by man, why would God allow such a "perversion"? His "word" can't be holy if it is so open to change. Kind of an uncaring, limiting God to allow such things, which are always represented by the Holy Spirit's leading. Especially when it results in the damnation of one's soul.
besidemymind 2 years ago
Actually, the Bible does contradict itself in a few places. My 9 year old daughter pointed one out last month:
1 John 4:8 "God is love."...1 Corinthians 13:4 "Love is not jealous."....Exodus 34:14 "for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God."
Faith like a child, huh?
besidemymind 2 years ago
From what version - or perversion - are you quoting 1 Corinthians 13:4 "Love is not jealous."? The three I've seen so far say "Love... does not envy".
tonoklein 2 years ago
NASB says "jealous" and few other versions.
And how could an all-powerful, all-knowing, infinite God be jealous?
besidemymind 2 years ago
NASB uses the word "jealous", as do a couple others.
But, envy and jealousy are basically the same. Though envy may not be as harsh of a degree, God is jealous. Why does God have such a human emotion. How can an all-powerful, all-knowing, infinite God be jealous?
And why would God allow such "perversions" of his Holy Word? Doesn't seem holy if it can be read differently, always represnted to be Holy Spirit lead. Did God "pass the buck" for it to be tooled by man? Damnation is at stake!
besidemymind 2 years ago
@besidemymind "But, envy and jealousy are basically the same. " Close, but no. The context of Gods jealousy in those passages is in a zealous, loving way. Like a man toward his wife. The context of mans envy in 1 Cor. 13:4 is in a hateful way. The concordance adds the word hatred in definition 1a of envieth (zēloō) to be heated or to boil with envy, hatred, anger. Anyone with half a brain who claims to be loving wouldnt contradict their self so badly.
tonoklein 2 years ago
"Why does God have such a human emotion." "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness." Genesis 1:26
"And why would God allow such "perversions" of his Holy Word?" Its like He gave us the freedom of choice or something?
"always represnted to be Holy Spirit lead." It is, for those few who actually have the HS. But "narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." The scriptures sure opened up for me after I was baptized...
tonoklein 2 years ago
..."Damnation is at stake!" Sure is, for people who dont take the time and study.
So, once again, when the time is taken to actually ask questions and study the Word, the truth comes out.
tonoklein 2 years ago
Not quite. This hasn't proven anything but how brainwashed you have become.
If you can't see the contradictions in your past comments and replies to me and in the "Holy Word of God", you are a fool!
besidemymind 2 years ago
I agree with some of the things you say, however I can also see where you went off track. You are wondering how the bible contradicts itself. Well first off the bible is not God. Not everything written in our bible is the word of God. Solomon wrote money is the answer to everything. But Yahoshua is greater than Solomon. And you have begun to notice what the early Nazarene Christians did and that is that Paul is the apostate to the law and the prophet and dreamer Moses warned about.
MrYouMustBeJoking 2 years ago
When I've seen professing Christians committing grave sins it came to me that this false teaching about salvation through Faith alone must have contributed to their falling.
For if works, repentance, and how we live our life doesn't matter, Jesus already did the heavy lifting, it leaves me open to be even more tempted by my own desires. I've always fallen more easily when I believe the lie that I will get away with it without consequences.
That is just my experience.

6:14.But when we take a step back and look at the big picture...
tonoklein 2 years ago
... taking into account all the provocative and seemingly contradictory statements, you can see what the NT is getting at - forsake this evil world and cling to the church (His kingdom on earth).

James shouldn't be in the bible (along w/ a few other things) & some things should be in the bible that are not.
kcivts 2 years ago
The overwhelming theme of the Bible, every book, beginning to end, is obedience to the commands - whatever they are. Thats faith and trust in God. by faith Abraham obeyed.according to the commandment for obedience to the faith 5 are directly linked to establishing and keeping salvation, remission of sins and recognition in heaven - 3:15. There is no such thing as faith without obedience (aka good works). if ye love me, keep my commands. James is not one bit inharmonious with the rest.
