i live in toronto guys and during the time of the G20 summit hosted in toronto. the goverment decided to kind of push away homeless people and others away so people thought it was unjust to do this and so they fought back.
Its their fault for being in the danger zone, i was in Ontario the whole time this was happening and i was drinking wine and smoking weed 3 hours away from this chaos

I watched a lot of this G20 videos and it seems to me the police at first detailed where protesters could and could not go and then changed the rules and started herding/assaulting and arresting people and at Spadina and Queen they herded them into a circle and told them to keep moving and when they didn't cause their surrounded ,they get assaulted and arrested , thats just stupid and really bad policing .
There's protesting and getting your message across and than there's just being stupid. 90% of those who got hurt got what they deserved. The police didn't do it to you, you did it to yourselves! Be mature, be respectful and just MAYBE you will be respected and herd in return. Yes the protesters did use destruction before the Queens Park fiasco, but the G20 security has a history of violence on protesters; Pittsburgh 09, London 10 (where a man died after being attacked by police.) Instead of providing a forum for the citizens to be recognized and be a part of the summit they'd rather spend a billion dollars to indiscriminately beat them. I'm sure some were doing it for fun, but for the most part they just want to be heard.

Its unfortunate that the police have to resort to more aggressive crowd control methods. However, I think most of the blame lies with the composition of the G20 protestors. I have been to one of these rallies and too many of the protestors resort to destruction of property, throwing objects and are a danger to residents of the area.

@Sanguinarian13 I was there firstly and secondly under the Criminal Code a lawful assembly is only lawfull until it become disruptive or violent. Since we know that happened the protest was officially unlawful and therefore required to disband. However the police should have made this more clear.

However since you brought it up dont forget they threw the tea into the Boston harbor which sent a huge message without violence. It was a key event that led to the American Revolution. It eventually came down to war because it was the only way to gain independence. They exhausted all options until it got to that point.

Yes the protesters did use destruction before the Queens Park fiasco, but the G20 security has a history of violence on protesters; Pittsburgh 09, London 10 (where a man died after being attacked by police.) Instead of providing a forum for the citizens to be recognized and be a part of the summit they'd rather spend a billion dollars to indiscriminately beat them. I'm sure some were doing it for fun, but for the most part they just want to be heard.

Its unfortunate that the police have to resort to more aggressive crowd control methods. However, I think most of the blame lies with the composition of the G20 protestors. I have been to one of these rallies and too many of the protestors resort to destruction of property, throwing objects and are a danger to residents of the area.

This was horrible. People were shot with the pellets for chanting "G8/G20 get out of our town" and that's it! They weren't violent. They weren't obscene. They were completely peaceful. This is WRONG on so many levels!!!!

this is really a violation of our canadian rights. it wont be long before they have us in their concentration camps to reduce the worlds population. i say we stand up as candians and as the last free country in this world and let them know that we will protect our freedom and rights at any cost. people u need to stand up

Sorry, I might be overdoing this but to address this whole police state message...
Canada quite the opposite of a police state. One might say that we have a real shortage in police enforcement. To add to it, out justice system is extremely lenient. It's amazing finding the type of criminals who get little to no jail sentencing. It'd be nice if Canada had more of a backbone...
In this PARTICULAR case, of course they're going to up policing! In case you forgot, the G20 leaders were visiting.

Those examples I listed were pretty general but could have been directed at a specific instance.
Who knows, perhaps there were people protesting for an actual reason. Unfortunately, there messages were drowned in the whole "Oh no! We live in a police state" fiasco.

Why were they protesting in the first place? I keep hearing about how they were protesting about the possibility of a police state. However, this message seems to be an excuse after the fact.
All I heard were chantings of "G8, G20 out of our town!" If that was there original message, then what an embarassment to our country.
For goodness sake! If you are going to protest, at least protest something substantial. (Examples: Poverty? Fighting corruption?)...

@MrSchmoozle Check out the MANY videos about the IMF, global banking cartels, the (american) Central Bank, interest rates, debt, monetary slavery... its basically the big players that run the world of us poor sheep, there are very few outlets for that kind of anger, some people riot, most protest, but the majority still have no clue at all... look these things up. Try the zeitgeist films as a starting point (try to watch those objectively..)
