This is just pretentious crap. I mean these two Euro dolts allegedly "dancing," not the song itself, which is great.
Listen to and watch the only legitimate videos of this song, by Dave Dee, Dozy, Beaky, Mick & Tich.
If you want a comic angle on the song, Barbara Eden (TV's "Jeannie" of "I Dream Of Jeannie") at least sings her own version, and in not a bad voice, either.
"Gilbert & George, called themselves “living sculptures”, and although anyone with eyes in their head could see that they were actually two fruity gays in suits" - Waldemar Januszczak
@evercharmer And my bet is you are "white" yourself--just another sad case of a gullible, easily-impressionable, self-loathing mind brainwashed at a left-wing re-education camp (also known as public schools and/or colleges & universities), and by the media elite.
If you sell it to people as art, basically everything can be art nowadays - even though I prefer sticking to the classic definitions of art, like classic paintings and such.
@TwilightArts What exactly is a classic definition of art? Many 'classic' artists were derived in their own time. Do you consider the likes of John Everett Millais and Dante Gabriel Rossetti to be classic artists? I seem to remember they were initially frowned upon and they in turn rejected 'classic' art and 'classic' forms. Or is Ophelia also a rejection of classic art? Where would be if people never created, reformed, adapted? Still slime in the ocean probably.
Well, my definition of art covers not only a creative idea, but also effort. Painting a canvas completely blue isn't art for me. I know that art changes over time, but I think without passion, work that you can actually see in the artwork and effort it isn't art. Everyone can create art, but "classic" art like a painting of michelangelo is something not everyone can accomplish. I wanna be stunned saying "woah, that guy sure can paint/draw/sculpt/whatever", if that makes sense to you.
@TwilightArts Sorry to bump form out of nowhere, but art does not necessarily imply technical prowess. One example is Jackson Pollock and most abstract expressionists. Another one could be Joseph Beuys, some of whose artworks were simply himself sitting down, covered in honey, with a dead rabbit in his arms (there's a concept behind the piece which makes this apparent "nonsense" be considered "art").
I agree with you in regards to technique being what most resonates with my liking.
I know both artists you mentioned and their work as well. I respect "new" forms of art and know how much they influenced the world of art, but honestly: They are not my cup of tea. But I guess everyone likes diffent forms of art, so as long as we keep a certain amount of respect towards other artists we probably don't even like, it's fine for me.
gilbert and george and renowned for their "art for all". i suppose if something is funny and lots of ppl enjoy watching it, then they can call it a success for their art.
you could class it as art, but you may well then need a venue to invite people to to see it, see if they get anything out of it, then maybe class something else as art, you know, begin to build a body of work, tho I hope you'd involve sentiments other than 'i could class this as art', otherwise people mightjust consider you as an attention seeker. Why not value gestures of fun and impermanence?
i saw the original film of this last weekend at the milwaukee art museum. weirdly hypnotic. i find it odd that they chose to use cuts in this one - the original was one locked down shot. go see the exhibit. its a mindfuck and i mean that as a compliment
I was forced to watch a documentary of these two weird guys this Spring semester, and the professor had a few questions about them on the finals. It was quite easy to remember they use bodily waste as a medium in their art, and they like to do these crazy routines for their performance art.

@evercharmer What is this "extremely white" stuff? Looks racist to me.
If someone wrote "extremely black," you know there would be multiple posts through the roof.
But apparently it's permissable to be racist, as long as against Caucasians.
