Explain please. Which cars have the crappy suspension? You know not all U.S. cars are luxo-cruiser family sedans, right? That Corvette in the video sports a much more sophisticated suspension than say your average 911 or BMW coupe. Chevy was first to market with a Turbo'd all-aluminum rear engined flat 6 with 4 wheel independent suspension. For that matter, the Omni GLH was more than competitive against the GTI, so what's all the "supertanker" BS?? Simply a myth of the ignorant!

@Yozimbo In the U.S we are very familiar with turbocharging and squeezing power from small-displacement engines, but since there are no arbitrary laws regarding engine displacement we use the most cost-effective solution which is larger less-stressed engines. We also live in a land where one can drive all day on long smooth roads, so historically many American cars have been large, soft "highway cruisers". Once again, not true of all. Please look at the ZR-1 for proof.

@EvilTwinBrotherBob I agree. I own a '68 Firebird, a '74 Pantera and a '88 Prelude. One also has to consider which car is the best for what course or what kind of driving you'll be doing. For this course I think I'd choose my Prelude first. On a more open course I'd choose the other ones. Just because one car is good for one kind of driving and not the other doesnt mean its no good. I like them all.

Taxes, import duties and insurance frequently force manufacturers and buyers in a narrow displacement range. Do you even know why "Formula One" is called Formula one? If you did, you would see how silly your statement is.

btw.. please call Mercedes and Rolls Royce to explain how unsophisticated their halo models are as they historically used big V-8s. :)

@Yozimbo note that bmays002 points out that the weight of many high-rpm multivalve, turocharged engines is nearly comparable to modern U.S. V-8s. Added to this, consider that a 6 liter GM LS engine not only can outpower say a hot SR20DET, but it does so with a more usable power curve, better BSFC numbers with less expense and is reliable enough to power a 1-ton truck for more than 200K miles ; only at 100 lbs penalty. It's not the "American" solution just the best for the circumstances.

But when lowered a little bit, the the suspensions roll center drops and the jacking effect can be almost eliminated.
