@roboticgentleman well it's not really so much that the gio is shitty you just have to get the right pedals and effects for the sounds your looking for.like you could have the boss heavy metal hm-2 pedal and come up with a dismember or entombed scandinavian death metal sound with the gio.

@pungentcorpse1 do you have a gio? it is the gio. and yeah if you have enough unintelligible distortion you can mask/compensate even a really fucked up guitar behind the wall of grinding noise. you can play with that ratio all day but the pick-ups in a guitar really affect the sound you get.

@roboticgentleman i agree i have played a gio it's a good guitar the pick ups arent too bad yea it's not like munky vai or satriani's signature guitars it's better than nothing lol.it's also a good guitar for beginners like this cover and evisceration plague had a really great sound to it as well.it isint as bad as ppl say.im getting an ibanez v blade similar to David Blomqvist ibanez blade guitar so that probably would have better pick ups.

Obituary doesn't play 7 strings, and they have 22 fret guitars. You should have been fine.

yeah i know they dont. i heard this whole album is in standard tuning though, yet there is a B power chord towards the end at 2:04. also at 1:12 there is a very high note. (double checking: i think 1:12 does sound like highest 22 fret note + extreme whammy bar [that i don't have] fluttering around e6)

its a grx, which is in the Gio budget line of guitars. i've played better guitars but it doesn't completely suck.

my complaints are...the heavier strings are a little clunky, and the strings/bridge is close to the pickguard so i can't get wild with my picking or else i tap my pick on the guard a lot as you hear the clicking noises in this video. i'm not very fond of the body style either.

Yeah, the shape's not the best, but it's reasonable. I can hear that, and it sounds annoying. How much did you get it for? You could probably pick up a used RG720 or something for close to $400.
