I went for Jordis, and it is strange the way they alternate between housecarl and wife. I disagree with most of you as personally I prefer Jordis to Lydia, even though I wanted to marry Lydia when I started. I beat up Jordis so she would chase me so I left and returned to the house. I got a potion because she wanted to thank me for being a good friend! Anyone else the same?

I think I'm going to have my male Altmer mage marry her. Can just imagine what the Stormcloaks would say, "First you damn elves take Talos worship from us, now you take our women?!?!" He's going to wear Thalmor robes to the wedding just for good measure.

@cubansupreme haha true, in the mission "the fornsworn conspiracy" you need to use the companion to kill the guards that want to put you to the jail before they can talk to you. I had seen that she takes too much time to kill them doing much fails lol

i got her in my house and i got the amulet of mara on but she doesn't say anything about it when i talk to her... its not giving me the option to marry her. do i have to do those lovers quests first?

@tokenking420 That happened to me with Lydia! You dont need to do the lovers quest to get married the Amulet will do for some, others you need to do tasks or quests for.

@LiefyTree Not when I first bought Proudspire or I bought the decoration upgrades, she arrived once I had become Thane and then went back to the house.

@SuperAfrobro You need to talk to Falk Firebeard at the Blue Palace and he will give you a quest to complete. Then once complete Jarl Elsrith will talk to you and give you a quest for her to complete "Something about her husband War Horn" once that is completed you can become Thane

@LiefyTree You have become Thane of Solitude I take it, Jordis only appers at the house after you become Thane, buying the house in Solitude is one of the requirements to becoming Thane and she comes with the title. Hopefully you are'nt glitched.

@xXBuRRoWsxTiGeRXx The housecarls are based in your home, in the hold in which they were assigned to you. Lydia, for example, will return to Breezehome in Whiterun if you dismiss her ('It's time for us to part ways.'), and will rejoin you if asked to follow you again. There is no penalty for doing this. This applies to all permanent followers, although there's a penalty for dismissing hirelings in that you'll need to pay their 500 gold fee all over again.
