I have been learning french for nearly a year now and have learnt that to say your age you use ' to have' instead 'to be': J'ai 21 ans ( I have 21 years). however, she says quand j’étais 15 ans , ( when I was).. is this because in french canadian it is different or is she not speaking french very well??
For an anglophone canadian, her french is pretty good. Period. English canadians on average are not better at french than any other english-speakers in the world, unless they are in close proximity to a french speaking population. But you know, americans and british people also have some good french speakers too.
The whole "bilingualism" thing is mostly political, started by Trudeau a few decades ago. French Immersion programs have been usually ineffective, with some exceptions.
she looks like she's struggling with french...like she cant recall the words or limited vocab....is this level of french typical for a an english speaking canadian?
Wherever you learned that information, it is dead wrong. If english canadians aren't in french immersion (which Coco and I were, in the same elementary/high school in fact), then they learn it as a second language. The problem is, a lot don't care about the language, mainly because of Quebec's perceived attitude towards the English.
@pissed7off i think it's more that there's no real importance to learn it other than preserving french ethnicity. Almost everyone can speak english in canada, most quebecos speak it as 2nd language right?
@xplosivelilly I know that government officials are also required to speak both English/French. Learning any language really requires an interest with the person, otherwise, nothing's going to get through. There is no real importance to learn it in BC as you said, you can survive on either one.
I feel kinda bad though, Quebeqois are more likely to know English than the other way around.
@pissed7off i really dont mean any disrespect to french canadians but they're just a minority and a minority that speaks english as a 2nd language. I've been told you can live a normal life in Montreal without knowing any french. English speakers on the whole, myself included don't really speak a 2nd language XD lol
life before modeling = Where from, school, how she got discovered
how she has strong principles against posing nude or with cigarettes even against pressure and being told she was too fat but ultimately understanding that she shouldn't change who she is,
that personality is most important for sucess and for not being addicted to drugs and a strong support system helps for that,
only coco made jokes?the france doesnt do jokes or what????

@swee78 English canadians don't learn french as a secondary language.
Also, overall, french is a real pain to get a hold on.
But she's pretty good.

@ceciparra Basically they talk about:
life before modeling = Where from, school, how she got discovered
how she has strong principles against posing nude or with cigarettes even against pressure and being told she was too fat but ultimately understanding that she shouldn't change who she is,
that personality is most important for sucess and for not being addicted to drugs and a strong support system helps for that,
her upcoming clothing line,
and how the name Coco came about
