To John Wayne. Jimmy is a great entainer. I know him personally. I am a State Rep for Bill Anderson and that is how I met him. He is a sweetheart. I love his Violet and a Rose. No one sings Ballads as Jimmy. If you see him tell him hello from Mary from Colorado.
Hey come on now 46r11. June Carter didn't have much of a voice either, and look how far she went! Back then, it wasn't all about having a good voice, it was about entertaining, making people smile and laugh. Jimmy and June did that oh so well. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet too. He's my 2nd cousin, and he's quite a character. I may have inherited my lack of height from him lol.
Had the great honor of meeting Little Jimmy in the 90s at a Denver concert thanks to my ex, a Denver firefighter, who knew how to get us underneath the main floor of McNichols Arena. He signed my 8x10 pic with "Best Wishes" and my Grand Ole Opry WSM Picture-History Book pic with "Thanks" and his name, of course. Had him all to ourselves for a few minutes and, as usual, he was a real gentleman. Like they say, "The best things come in small packages!" God Bless, Jimmy. May you live to be 100!
WOW!!! This interview is GREAT!!! Roy Acuff is one of my favorite Country singers as well. I have never heard of Little Jimmy Dickens until Bill Withers mentioned him. This man has GREAT integrity!!! I believe tough times make strong men!!! Little Jimmy is a classic example R.I.P Little Jimmy Dickens GOD BLESS!!
Dickens did not write Country Roads, Take Me Home, Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert started it and John Denver finished it. Dickens did record a song called Country Boy; however.
Most people have heard the song "Country Roads", but they don't know that this man wrote the song, it's his song. Sorry John Denver, you just made the song famous!!
I love this guy. I interviewed him at the radio museum in Huntington in 2007, such a friendly man, and we ate at hillbilly hotdogs afterwards. Great guy, great family.
None can compare to Jimmy, he is one of a kind. I was fortunate to catch one of his shows, and he is truly a big man when you meet him. We love him, God bless you Jimmy.

I remember performing with him, in 1978. He was quite the funny fellow! From one Virginian to another, here's to "Tater"!

I apologize if I offended anyone with my comment last week, my remarks were out of line and certainly not meant to hurt anyone including Jimmy. Wayne
