The reason for this I believe is that there is no context in the Quran and so the verses can be taken to mean anything. That is the nature of the Quran. It says one thing but is wide open to mean anything.

They were supposedly written by his companions, and later compiled into books named the Hadiths. Read my post again, I said they were compiled, not written. And because they were written by his companions they could very well be full of misinformation. They were not divinely inspired like the Quran, and therefore are subject to flaws.
