  • Of course, she had no idea how this song would later become the Battle Cry for Bill Gates' Microsoft.

(i just had to - Love Mills Always!)

  • Why is Marie Osmond dressed up like Prince introducing her? Oh, right, it was the 80s.

  • @ira4632 - that isn't Marie Osmond, it's Melissa Manchester.

  • Saw her live doing the Wiz in San Francisco..she really doesn't even need a mic..we were sitting in the balcony!!

  • she is the only singer for this song love it bit by bit.

  • you can get a real abb work out to this,

  • Dancefloor music from the great decade......MORE FANTASTIC ´80´s music at my channel!!!!

  • stephanie is lovely. Sexxy

    love her eyes.

  • Wonderful singer. Remember her especially from the 80s when I grew up (I am 40 now). But not only was she a great singer...she was was damn sexy and a nice person as well. Way too underrated in Europe. She deserved more succes. Greetings from the cold Scandinavia.

  • @Badger071 Scandinavia is not that cold with warm comments like yours. Thank you!~ :)

  • Great song and incredible singer. It's a shame a woman with such an amazing voice didn't get further with her career.

  • Fletch!!!!

  • This is an awesome song!

    80s booty FTW

  • love it, i heard they may do fletch lives or whatever the book was called..more fletch?

  • They already did Fletch lives ...It was the sequel

  • Whew!!! dem Solid Gold Dancers were FINE!!!!

  • Yes they were, many of them still are. And they are all FINE people on the inside too!! thanks for the comment!

  • @vincekbrooks yeah and not weird and symbolically awkward like GAGA dancers.. Dey COOL!

  • used to love this tune. love Fletch too!

  • Hop-along Cassidy killed himself here, bow and arrow, very weird.

  • What are you, doped up now?

  • I still remember hearing this song at the end of Fletch. I thought it was the stuff. Too bad songs aren't performed in this style. It was pop at its finest in the 80's. Too bad Stephanie went gospel only after that. I would have love to hear more contemporary stuff. Her voice was ideal.

  • It's all Ballbearings these days.

  • Geez do I feeeeeeel old I was 6 when this song came out hahahahaha good song but I am feeling my age now. LOL

  • Really? You feel OLD?! How about me? I was a freshman in University just finishing up my first year when this aired! Now tell me how old you feel . . . .

  • Oh major mistake on my part sorry bout that I was young but not that young I was 15, or 14 depending on what part of 85 the song was produced. But you sound like you got me well beat for being old. tho I am 2 years from 40 I was complement 2 weeks ago someone thought I was 26 :) made me feel good

  • Well then I guess I am NOT that much older than you. I will be 43 next week. So I feel much better! Thx!!

  • Lmao .... you feel old ..... I'm going to be 49 ...... I remember seeing Stephanie in "The Wiz" on Broadway when I was in high school (she's 2 or 3 years older than me).

  • Amazing how you wake up one day and you are the age your parents were when you thought as a child "I wonder what it's like to be old like my parents"!! SHEESH!

  • You think of this song you think of Fletch. You think of Fletch you think of this song and Chevy Chase.

  • I agree 100% Fletch was just on HBO last night so i had to listien to this song again.

  • Stephanie looks real good in that yellow dress! But this song wasn't a big hit around where I'm from.

  • I don't think it was a BIG hit anywhere. But it is a good song and I love this performance with the dancers

  • "Bit By Bit" was the only hit from the "Fletch" soundtrack, as the rest of the tracks were by Dan Hartman, John Farnham (who was the lead singer of The Little River Band for a while), Harold Faltermeyer ("Axel F" theme from "Beverly Hills Cop"), the Fixx, and Kim Wilde. Didn't know that Rick didn't finish the season - if I did, I might have watched it until Dionne came back!

  • Yes - they had folks like Ms. Manchester, Crystal Gayle, Lou Rawls, guest hosting til the end of season 5. Somewhere around in there Darcel returned too. I don't know if one had to do with the other or if it was just a freaky, freaky coincidence!

Anyone out there know the timing????

  • Didn't Darcel miss the beginning of this season due to her pregnancy?

  • No, that was a rumour, Darcel has given birth to 2 children, the first in 1978/9 (I forget which) and the second in 1989. She left Solid Gold during the 5th season to pursue other options with her then husband Glenn Leonard. Her return was prompted by the higher ups.

  • According to Wikipedia, Darcel has three grown children, and she left the show in 1984 for Kid #2? You may know more than they do!

  • Actually, the 3rd child is a step-child by Glen Leonard (her 1st husband). And from what I know, the info I provided was given to me by a BIG, BIG fan of Darcel's. As we had this same discussion about why she left and then suddenly returned. From what I know - my friend has an "inside" source or very reliable qualifications!

  • I'll take your word on that one - I know what it is like to have 'inside sources' on certain shows!

  • Melissa Manchester looks SOOO hot here!

  • nice post, that was the last season of leslie and gayle and why the host wasn't rick?

  • This is from season 5 and Lezlie didn't finish that year. Janeen came in a replaced her til the end of that season. Rick Dees also left the show before the end of the season and they brought in "Guest Hosts" to replace him until Dionne returned in season 6.
