@irvinemuscles - The car has been sold! I decided to buy something a little more streetable but still fast. I will post a video of it after I go to Florida next weekend to pick it up. Just imagine V12, twin turbos, 640 hp and 775 torque!
@CudaHemiTom Streetable. That term is all relative. Why don't you think the Barracuda was Streetable? My 600hp 393 Windsor with Big Comp Cam street roller is work to drive on street, but fun. I have to put in idle when i come to stoplight to make sure lifters get good splash. I have to foot brake it to get a good launch or it will bog, and I can't go over 65mph on fwy or my revs are above 3500rpm and I eat gas like crazy. I have to get valves adjusted once a year. But i still love it!
@DrMMHMD As far as I know. I checked the VIN # against a build database and I'm pretty sure it was correct. Why? Did that make it a rare car? Did I sell it too cheaply??? :)
The kid who bought it sent me some pictures of the engine compartment. First thing I noticed was that he filpped the breather and put in an oversize air filter....... Man, I miss being 16! :)
@Navajas440 This is what I'm talkin about. Crash test of a nearly 2+ ton all-steel Chev Bel Air getting owned by a newer Malibu weighing maybe 3500lbs? It's kinda funny...

@malaka1212 Hey!!!! You know damn well in the late 60's Ford was trying to sell safety with better seatbelts and such, Meanwhile, GM and Mopar were selling cars. But I take comfort in knowing a metal bumper is between me and the next car . Not a carbon fiber or fiberglass roll pan!!!
@Navajas440 Ooops I was wrong on those dates... they were already performing crash tests in the 60s, GM anyway I dunno about others... This is hilarious!
Anyone who races, knows they're taking their life into their hands, And if they're life means so much to them, they have no business racing, 2605830. I wouldn't expect sympathy if I crashed and died, I did it knowing I could possibly die, hence I don't have sympathy for those who do die. Same with Soldiers, cops, and Firemen.Oh and 'Vettes have IRS and few MOPARS do, meaning, stronger axle for doing the 1/4. , New Vettes don't have a true "driveline" making them unsuitable for drag racing. tsk
Muscle cars are not PRACTICAL. They're visceral like Harley's and Barret .50 Calibers for civilians. Know what's great about a Hemi in a A-Body ? Spark Plug access! Know what sux about a 383-440 in a A-Body ? Custom Headers and spark plug access! I had a 440 in a 74 Dart Swinger, passed everything but the gas station with a paltry 5-6 mpg. I love the 68-69 B.Cuda's Notchback better than the E-Bodies which are cool but overpriced. The A-Body Cuda's are cheaper, better looking, and more scarce.
You guys and your safety comments... It's caged and it's real steel, I'm sure it's setup for Drag racing, the ZR1 is not a drag car go be an ASS somewhere else, MOPAR!!
they should remake the old popular plymouths but not mass produce them........they should just make a few thousand and start a pure muscle car make with your choice of year remake for example a 2011 70cuda or a 2011 73 cuda
@thugstylef there are companies that will do that for you they will make a muscle car exactly like the original but new or if you choose you can add new modern luxuries to it
Nothing in the world sounds as cool as opening up the secondaries on a 4 barrell carb......and you have two of 'em!! :)
I'd give a testicle for a car like that.
Sold my '67 SS, 327 Impala last fall. It had a 275 HP engine with camel hump heads and a TH400 transmission on it. All original. I sold it to a 16 year old kid who's dad is going to help him completely restore it.
At james6speed @mattio79 true but it won't blow up it's a torqueflight. This cracks me up. I know they can be built up, but I've so many of them pop and they do need to be modded. Even the C6 and TH400 needed beefing if the engines got modded decently. Good source would be the the trannie companies on what holds what. And the % ratio of loss thru the drivetrain depends on many variables so it varies among different trannies. Good article on this in some mags.
Impressive, but considering the engine/compression this engine should put this down. For anybody that doesn't know about the Hemi, this car has a 528 12.5 to 1 and in my opinion easily capable of making 1000 HP at the flywheel. You just canb't beat a Hemi for raw power (sorry Big Block Chevy fans) but all things being equal BBC to Hemi, the Hemi will outpower the BBC by on average 75 HP.
@CudaHemiTom thats why i dont like automatic transmissions :P i mean...22% is alot imo :P ..wouldnt you just love to have that of power with a manual transmission?
@CudaHemiTom awesome ride man!but why don't you use 4speed or another manual tranny?i think it's besides more power much more fun to drive, isn't it?anyways cool car!
@CudaHemiTom You are right on cause my 393 Windsor street car makes 600hp at the crank and 470wheel. Exactly 22% loss. That's a big chunk with 3800 stall converter. What did you do to this engine(specs) to make 703rwhp. that 900 at the crank. Is it pump or pure race gas. Your cam must be huge solid roller.
@CudaHemiTom i thought 780,s were the ones? Had a 68 cuda formula S and tweaked the hell out of it eidelbrock high rise holley 780,headers,traction bars and it already had prestolite dual point ignition and posi-traction standard from the factory so i left the rest alone. @Navajas440 My comment was in response to some clown on this thread who said, "this is how cars should be built. fuck mpg and safety a car has to be fast and looking cool in it"
Obviously you didn't catch that, and just proceeded to assume I'm a Hemi hater, which I'm not. This style of Cuda happens to be my favorite of all, and grabbing one with a Hemi powerplant would be a dream. Point I was making is that older cars were less survivable in severe accidents... but not a biggie tho.
@malaka1212 I disagree AND I agree: The safety standards today didn't really exist back in the Muscle Car era.So Yeah I agree with you there. However, sheetmetal is....METAL nonetheless whereas the newer stuff still uses some sheetmetal like the hood and fenders, but overall to save weight, carbon fiber is used. But at the same time, bumpers were iron or heavy metal, Today, only trucks have metal bumpers. I do agree with you on the 68-69 A-BODY 'Cudas being my favored 'Cudas over E-Bodies.
@malaka1212 I used to think precisely the same thing. Novice logic would tell you that big sold heavy frames + bumpers composed of almost 2-tons of Detroit steel would protect you well in a collision. Then I saw modern crash tests performed on coupes and sedans of the pre-70s era, before crash dummies even existed. The geometry/construction of the car had no safety in mind (ie. lap belts, bench seats, what air bags?) during design. Today's cars are lighter but designed to protect passenger
600rwhp on 93 octane with 12.5:1. You must be one smart engine builder. Those are insane numbers. I'd be happy with 480-500rwhp in a 3000lb 68 stang. As soon as I get my AFR 205'S with my XR292R solid street roller put in, my dyno guy said I should be putting down at least 475rwhp. Dumping the Edelbrock Performer RPM heads and smaller street roller cam for some real HP. Won't make 600rwhp, have to go to a bigger engine and wheel tubs for that, otherwise, you're just spinning your wheels.
How can you run 91-93 octane with 12.5 :1 I have 10:1 in my 393 windsor out her in California. If I run straight 91 it runs shity with dieseling when I shut the car off. When I mix 91 with 100 octane(50/50) it runs great with no dieseling or run on.
Thats alot of displacement how much suspension mods did you have to make to the front I would guess that a heavy motor. Ibuild imports bu I have bn trying to get my dad to upgrade his 355 in his 69 camaro for the longest
Beautiful masterpiece of Muscle Machinery. What's the specs on the motor(CR, Cam, Cubic inches.etc.....) That black paint job looks like it cost at least 10k. Car's probably worth a 100k easy. How much do you have in just the motor, just curious. Black is the best color. Awesome car, must be one hell of a blast to drive, and it looks like a street ca. Is that a full tube or mini.
The paint is very nice, even though it is 25 years old! The motor is 12.5 compression, 528 ci, roller cam, dual plug aluminum heads, magnesium cross ram intake. I probably have $40k in the motor.
The Raw Awesome Power Of Good Ole' American Horse Power. Alright, I Thought The Idea Was To Keep The Factory Motor Inside To Make It A Collectors' Car...........LMAO............
But, The Inky Dinky Motor Did Not Have Enough Muscles Like The Buffed Out Hemispherical Rat Motor!!!!!!!! 703 H.P.
How Long Did Take To Build It's Muscle & Must Be A Lot Money Being Spent At GNC Retail Store Outlets..............J.Joking....Nine9eniN

When I mix 91 with 100 octane(50/50) it runs great with no dieseling or run on.
irvinemuscles 2 years ago
Aluminum heads, Hemi chamber shape (no squish), dual plugs per cylinder.
CudaHemiTom 2 years ago

I'm jealous.
irvinemuscles 2 years ago 2
The paint is very nice, even though it is 25 years old! The motor is 12.5 compression, 528 ci, roller cam, dual plug aluminum heads, magnesium cross ram intake. I probably have $40k in the motor.
CudaHemiTom 2 years ago
How come the paint looks so new. How did you keep it lookin' that good after 25 years. 12.5 CR, what do ya run 100 octane.
irvinemuscles 2 years ago
TLC and 3M glaze! Nope. I run pump gas only! Aluminum heads and massaged pistons help.
CudaHemiTom 2 years ago
Oh yea, it is fully tubbed with custom rear frame rails.

No wonder------>nitrous
What is it on real motor?
SSBarracuda 2 years ago
It is about 600 at the rear wheels on 93 octane only.
