I'm a female and I love ninja animes.. Just fall in love with some of the male characters! Jubei is one of my favourites :)) I really think he's the perfect guy.. in all forms. Another title that is similar to this is Wicked City.. Not as good as this but certainly worth a watch..

I'm having mixed feelings about live action adaptations. It seems Hollywood is running out of ideas and in a bid to keep the system from imploding due to a bankruptcy of original concepts, their scrambling to find old material that they can remake and package to a mass audience. Is nothing sacred? If history is any guide, a live action version would just be a steaming pile of rubbish. A complete bastardization and sacrilege of epic proportions.

Too right, Anime is a culture with its own set of rules. It just doesn't translate to live action, just look at garbage like Sucker Punch to get an idea of what a film like Ninja Scroll would look like with live action actors. I wouldn't dismiss a CG version though, because I think that would be the best way to preserve the artform of animation while still making it look more realistic.

@plutoend99 i think its overrated, as many consider to be perfect but there are about 5 cornball scenes in my opinion that keep it from being perfect. The dialogue is a bit stilted, and the animation is good but not impressive. The fight scenes are pretty awesome and the story concept is the best I'ev ever seen for a ninja Anime. Ninja Scroll is a classic, i do own it, i'd recommend watching it, just know, its not for children, there''s sex, rape, murder, etc.

@plutoend99 Samurai X Trust and Betrayal (an OVA, about 2 hours long), Princess Mononoke, Porco Rosso, (Hayao Miyazaki movies are all considered classics), Grave of the Fireflies, Akira (its a cult classic, severely overrated, but still pretty good), Ghost in the Shell (like Akira overrated, cult classic, still good), Jin-Roh The Wolf Brigade (way underrated in my opinion), Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust (not the old 1980's vampire hunter D movie, the newer one from like 2001 i think)

@plutoend99 Cowboy Bebop (TV series, i hated the movie, although most everyone else liked the movie too), Evangelion (the series and the movie, End of Evangelion). Also Gundam Wing 0080: War in the Pocket (in my opinion the single greatest thing to come out of Gundam, VERY UNDERRATED). Metropolis, Street fighter 2 (if you were a fan of the video game, i wasn't, so i wasn't really into Street Fighter 2, but the fans loved it).....I can't think of too many more right now.
