I was curious at the choice of PVA glue over say, something like a quality rubber cement. I was thinking about the flexibility factor and maybe the PVA cracking over time? What are your thoughts on this? Thanks!
Very nice tutorial. I have a Twilight paperback and the front cover is sticking up and everything i do, i wont go down. are theree any tricks orr methods i can usee to make the coverr stop sticking up. thanks. and i will most definetely describee if my question gets answered. thanks for your time. byee
Great hinge repair, well demonstrated. I would just add that, if one hinge has let go, the other might soon follow, so as long as you have access to the inside of the opposite hinge, check IT out. If it's weak, it's probably better to do a so-called "tube" repair, which is just like this one except that the reinforcement strip is wider and has 2 folds, to reinforce both hinges.
Thanks Molly Girl! I'm just starting out and am trying to take in as much as I can. Books are good, but your little videos are a real help.
Even though Mr. Snottypants points out a shortcoming in this procedure, I like it because it does show an alternative (a "quick fix"). Thanks and keep up the good work. Tom
By not lifting the endpaper to insert the repair cloth you have managed to put all the strain of opening and closing the book on the old cloth joint which will fail very quickly.
if you are just attaching the cover to a cheap book so it doesn't get worse...then it's just the ticket. if you are putting a cover back on a book you used every day then why are you looking for a 5 minute fix in the 1st place?
actually this is how you fix a book that isn't important. Real binders have much more elaborate and higher quality methods. But I can't do that in 10 minutes on a video.
Well i luuuv my books even if they are not that expensive but they are veeery important to me. And your method is just what i was looking for. but you could do the "expensive" ones on more then one chapter! :)
Great info--thanks! But what kind of glue do you use? Also, I have an inexpensive paperback that's separating in the middle, but for its sentimental value, I really want to repair it. Do you have a video for that? Thanks very much!
Thank you for the video, I found it on soothetube. This is fantastic for ASMR. I especially liked the sound of your bracelets clinking.

that all depends on what you are doing with it.
