I've found in the past that when anyone tries to get greedy, there's someone else on the interwebs who's offering the same, and often better service for free. The big news media corporations (and Google) are not the only source of news and information.

It's not just google - I've read several articles that predict a good chunk of the current content that is free, will be fee based within 5 years - which include most news outlets. So not only will we be paying for our ISPs to get oin-line - then we will be paying the providers to see the worth-while stuff. Of course there will be stuff that will always be free - I hope YT is one of them - but you never know.
