  • the camemcorder is Canon FS100 or Canon HF100?

  • Anybody buying this camcorder. It shoots .mod and you would need to buy Adobe Premiere Elements 7 to deal with this kind of avchd file. That goes for all camcorders that use avchd ok. :) David and Charmaine

  • or you can get sdcopy for free

  • [con't] It takes colorful vid in good light. It's ability to capture motion seems okay.

The zoom is phenomenally strong, with some predictable quality loss at high end of optical zoom (I haven't used the digital zoom).

I generally "like" the camera, enjoy using it. I have more testing to do, it'll primarily be used to capture street scenes and some interviews, so have to do some talking head stuff.

If those come out alright, I'll keep it; otherwise, will look at the HF100.

    Hope that helps!

  • My response:

    Hi,

Well, it's no HG10, which I'd used previously. It's not crystal clear, razor sharp imagery. Then again, the files aren't gigabytes per minute, as with un-coded AVCHD files... It's not uselessly horrible... the image suffers in low-light, with a lot of odd-color blotchiness and grain.

In good light, I've had some consistent trouble with white balance and white/color blow-out.

It's as light as can be, fits in a small/medium digital camera bag...
