Bates Motel / Psycho House at Universal ´2000

went on this tour in 2004. in one of the houses you could see Mrs. Bates sitting looking out the window. it was kind of funny and creepy at the same time lol. then my family went again a few years later but i had to stay home. my mom said the second time there was no Mrs. Bates but there was a guy walking around dressed like Norman Bates.

@rhymeandreasoning That house is the Psycho house... More or less. It was Norman Bates' house in the 1998 remake of the movie of the same name. The movie was shot-for-shot, line-for-line remake that was a huge flop and is considered the worst remake of all time. The house was demolished and all the remains of the remake were destroyed due to popular demand. You can see a postcard of the Bates Motel from the remake in the queue area in Universal's House of Horrors at Hollywood. Hope this helps :)

@Blu923the2nd Hey there..thank your so much for the reply...I saw the 'Psycho' remake at the theatres..i kid you not, i almost started crying, i could not believe how bad it was, and it seemed to drag on forever...it was at the time one of the worst movies i had ever paid to see...i was so disappointed..YET it aired on tv here about 2 weeks ago and i forced myself to watch it again...i actually found it not to be THAT bad, certain things i liked..the ending is of course ridiculous....

@rhymeandreasoning It's always on here (idk why). I rewatched it... It was still bad to me. The only thing that kind of like is the house. I like the house as the house, not as the Psycho house. I just didn't like it o.o

@Blu923the2nd yeah i liked the house also..i need to rewatch the original 'Psycho'..is the Psycho house on the movie lot a full house or just facade only..would love to see it in person....really funny that on the tour one side is THE GRINCH the other side PSYCHO..polar opposites in movies..yet back to back..must be a cool place to hang out..

@rhymeandreasoning The 1998 house has been torn down, but only had a front side and side wall. The original Psycho House used to be the same. But over the years they added more walls due to the angles it would be seen in the future movies. It is now just a empty shell :P

The real Bates Motel is in Philly, PA.

The 1998 house was beside the 1960 house from 1999 until it was demolished in 2003

haha yeah i went like a few months ago and they had it set up where he put the body into the car and then he came after the tour bus and of coursemy luck i was the in the very last car on the right hand side back row and "OF COURSE" the tour guide says "uh oh watch out last car" and then he takes his knife and pretends to stab me it was actually kinda fun ahhaa and then he just kept staring at me as we drove away weee

Awsome. I took the a ride on the tram on Laborday of 2008. I sat on front row on far right. so I mostly looked on the right. I saw the dude put something in the car then he walked to us. I should have went again and sit on the left so I can see both sides. Well I will when I return again.

You can only get it in the Universal Merchandise Store if its allready available because its now 8 years ago...or maybe on ebay :-)
