  • This speech suddenly turned into a dystopic prophecy...

  • Yikes. I'd rather meditate and eat my cereal with no distractions.

  • Sounds really cool. But way too impossible. Too extreme, and this guy is retarded. I don't want to live on that planet (anymore?).

  • @Ultrevor T You think that the Carnegie Mellon Professor who was a Disney Imagineer and is merely demonstrating how technology is trending... is retarded? You sir, are the very definition of "Troll".

  • @Ultrevor Its not impossible, since it will bring a lot of money for companies and as you know like with cancer studies vs apple technology: Nothing is impossible if you have greedy companies behind you :)

  • This is the most confusing piece of crap I have ever heard of. So how will this put food on the table and pay the bills? I want nothingto do with this.

  • yeaah the whole world's gonna know when you're masturbating; are there gonna be points if you've watched 10 porn videos in a row?

    That's stupid I think

  • REMtertainment system is classic.

  • That was good science fiction. Dragged too long after 5 minutes though.

  • However, you get 100 points docked every time you study philosophy, literature, or history because thinking is silly!

  • sad that this kind of dumb fuck is dictating what games will look like in the future; your ideas are terrible

  • @utubeaccount00 that's not what he is doing. these aren't game ideas for the future this is parody with a pertinent point, how do you not see that?

  • Appalling idea. "Hei guise! Let's make our entire lives into a giant fucking Skinner's Box! That'll surely solve world's problems! Rite?!"

  • @ljyong21 you actually think that's his point? watch the first two parts for starters, then realise he is just making a massive parody of the kinds of things that are inevitably going to come. he is appealing to intelligent game designers to avert the bastardisation of their art form

  • @iamskillxD 'HEY GUISE, IT WAS TOTALLY SARCASTIC SO IT'S ALL OKAY'

That's not how sarcasm or satire works. Try again.

  • @ljyong21 that's not what i said. try not being such a cynical, belittling prick.

  • @iamskillxD What the hell did you expect on the internet, especially YouTube?

You are lucky if I don't call him a 'OMG WHAT A FAGGOT' and other bullshit.

Go back to your hugbox already.

  • @ljyong21 the internet doesn't have to be a place for you to exercise your cynical, belittling prickism, but since you've openly admitted that's why you're here i'm not going to talk to you anymore. either you're using internet anonymity as an excuse to be a prick, or you actually are just a prick, either way this conversation isn't going anywhere so bye

  • what an utterly loathsome creature.

  • @misterlaufeyson shut up trolllolololololololol

  • This guy is insane. He should be locked in a room with padded walls and soft foods.

  • So the Government and my employers are going to find a new way to manipulate my behaviour....great, well at least it beats police shooting at me.

  • @Antharmo it was always about manipulation.

  • also If you add these points IN YOUR MIND you can get things done that arent automatically pointed. Also after playing something like minecraft for wayyy too long it feel great while you're playing but after, you realise you just spent 60+ hours on ahieving nothing. If you put as much time and effort to feel these achievements from actuall real life goals then you can go to games as a source of entertainment and not a source of achievement. Achieve real things, and get entertained by games.

  • I have to disagree with his talk on a few levels, hes exadurated a theory way too far, i understand he's noticed some traits in the industry but i honestly think people will start to notice these things and stray away from them. games honestly cant be sustained as fun on a bunch of phsycological pulls. As your playing you feel a sense of achievement and thats it, not immersion not fear, not wonder and awe. Just false achievements.

  • @Yekolf yep - get job done an be fun. But still achievement is pretty uncertain thing to bet all game glory on it. There are lot of aspects in games that needs to be taken into account. For example communication, aesthetics and involvement (if one can get interested in a game at all).

Anyway motivation for long term playing seems comes from psychological insecurities so using tricks here is pretty useful as you can kick poor things one more time and be off without problems. No psycho-police..

  • @Yekolf You could say that, but think about what he's getting at. His point is in the last 2 minutes. "It's gotta come, who is going to stop it?" His exaggeration was more realistically used as an attention grabber for his point. Take it as a challenge or realization of how much potential these types of systems have. Right now the people who have the power are the Advertising companies, If skilled game designers are able to take charge then what you have is a force more powerful than religion.

  • @Yekolf you need to watch the first two parts, and comprehend the absolutely ludicrous scale of the casual online multiplayer game industry that has come out of nowhere in the last couple of years

  • Madness, but I must admit I was considering a self imposed Achievement system to get things done on a day to day basis...

  • @daart1234 We always should b vigilant of technology being used for evil. But also not be too resistant of technology because of what "might" happen. Historically we know humanity likes to choose technology for good, but can use it 4 evil. So that means every technology is a double edged sword The technology of the "knife" was invented & people were scared of it because it could be used to kill someone, but what do you think humanity has used the invention of the knife 4 more realistically?

  • What a crappy future world....

I would kill myself if get points every time I take a dump.

  • Sounds like Big Brother is coming. Imagine all this stuff being used for evil purposes.

  • Wow... I thoroughly enjoyed this lecture. Very interesting stuff. He made some great points and while some of his predictions do seem a little far out there, they are quite possible.

  • @dice568 So says the possible Dice employee. I'm on to you, Jesse Schell...

  • @itsawooha Haha, good guess I suppose. But actually I stumbled upon this convention and this video by accident. I was searching for images and videos and things related to dice and die-rolling for a little project I'm working on for myself. I've been going by the user name Dice for over 10 years now. Okay now I feel old...

Anyway... Long story short / tl;dr : I am not related to/affiliated with DICE college in any way.
