ok maybe i was totally wrong, maybe I kinda solve the mp3 issue, it works for me: plug the Sennheiser into the 3.5 Jack, turn the volume up in your mp3 player 80% should be fine you could adjust (down) it with the headphones volume button, and thats it! the res 120 do not admit low volume from the source, its prepared to turn it off if that happens. I have just brought rs 120,TV is great, but Do Not buy for cellphones or mp3 players I'm going to get it back because it take just 15 min or less to creep you out with buzzing like if the ring girl just appears and the only way to get out is to turn it off, remember do not buy this for cellphones! PS I've an Samsung gs and a ipod nano 3g

do you have to be within range of the stand or just the source? i broke my old wired pair getting up while connected to my laptop and want something wireless. can i leave the stand at home and go out on the town while connected to my mp3 player or phone?

I talked generally. I use beyer dt770 for comp applications. And it is good for music too. If wieless function isnt too important for u u can get dt770, it is closed like this and have really good sound. But if u want wireless, and if u use only for movie and games u can get one of these rs series.
