  • Im 30 years old and had an awesome time as a kid listening to all these great 80's tunes. Then I turned 10 and along came the 90's. I feel blessed to have grown up when I did. Music just seemed better then. From what Ive read on here we even have 14 year olds digging this tune. Tunes like this never die, but do you ever hear of any 14 year olds praising Puff Daddy or Justin Timberlake tunes. The tunes now are a hit for a couple of weeks then they are forgotten forever. Long live the 80's

  • Lets forget about the youtube chat drama and do what you came here to do and listen, unless you came here to chat, which is pretty sad

  • I answered the call and spend 10yrs in africa, met my japanese wife there.

Best time of my life. Now in japan sans wife(rip) but with a great son.

Want him to see the africa I know(places and people).

  • I always do that too right in that spot! Weird! @ZenBuilder

  • OMG how can 19 people be so damned dumb? This is one of the very best songs out of the '80's....nice beat, smooth lyrics and instruments, PLUS, it mentions places on the planet some people have never heard of and most likely (like me) will never see.

  • helped make me who i am

  • haha singing this song in choir at dekalb

  • arigoldfilms,

It's a SONG. It is not supposed to be politically, geographically, logically or historically accurate. It is Supposed to sound good, and it does.

    Discuss?

    Discuss what?

Your are reading into a song a political, feminine and economic agenda where none exists. There is nothing to discuss other that your own personal issues.

  • @Umoth Very well said

  • @Umoth i think its a joke.

  • Ummmm me thinks you need to actually listen to the lyrics. Did'nt say Kiliman. could be seen from the Serengeti, said it rose above. You might want to reconsider your interpretation of this song from your onw biased perspective, and hear the music as it is.

  • Subsumation?

  • Music moved on. Sure, a lot of people think that music has gone downhill since the 80s, and that is probably true. But it can also be said that it has moved on- technology like Autotune allows people with good ideas but no singing talent to get their songs into circulation. It's the money, see? Modern music gets more money than 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s music now. Though it must be said, Rihanna's last three songs were rubbish.

  • are misteryes near in aaafricaaa(8)

  • Check out the "Live from Amsterdam" version of this song. It is amazing.

  • Anyone else check this out because of Scrubs?

  • 1982? WOW...I feel so old. I used to have this tape. Sister gave it to me for xmas when we were in high school.

  • @HeyItsMacey; Same here, I'm 16; listening to The eagles, toto, bon jovi and similair music, it's just lovely, and if I had a time travel system, no doubt I'd go back to the 80's!

    oooooowwwwwwwwwnnnnnnneeeeeedddddddd

  • @HeyItsMacey Not to rain on the Beatles, but they were from the 60s. Good Stuff though.

  • @ITurnYouIntoCookie im aware

  • @HeyItsMacey

good for you macey! at least not all young people are addicted to that mindless and vulgar rap etc. no melody, harmon y and the "lyrics"... try classical when you feel like it, like mozart's "a little night music", see how that grabs you. they will still play mozart, beethoven, copin in 200 years from now llike the beatles. that is, if we still exist by then and have not blown ourselves up or poisined the planet.....aloha from hawaii!!

  • @HeyItsMacey Sounds like you were born in the wrong decade. For those of us who grew up (my 20's) in the 80's, it was a special age indeed! Great music, mellow, timeless! Glad to see a younger generation enjoying it too!

  • @HeyItsMacey beatles is the 60's still they are good

  • I hear a gunshot echo in the night

It's quiet here on Nelson Bay when wookies get their camp on

I take him out with my 4x Noob sight But he'll be back

To piss me off as soon as he can respawn

I see a camping asshole in our base

Waiting to steal our chopper so he can fly around and rape us

I take my engineer kit in my hand and say

Hurry Boys! The Hind is after you!

  • Chorus:

Gonna take more than Black Ops to drive me away from you

Ain't nothing that a million C4 Whores could ever do

Let's bring the pain down in Arica

While we're at it let's tear them a new one on Port Valdez Too

  • Gonna squad up and play some rush tonight

Hoping to find a lobby that isn't mostly full of douchebags

C4 on the UAV ain't right, If that's their plan

Better fall back 'cause victory's in sight

  • Before listening this song:

I have a musical band, and they wanted to make covers. I was bored. I told them: "What shall we play?" They answered: "Africa from Toto." What? And I came here.

    After listening this song:

"WOW! I am looking forward to make a cover band!"

This song is amazing and elegant!

  • is he saying he fixed the drain down in Africa??...lol

  • the guy singing looks like the guy in the hangover

  • im 15...and this song is fucking awesome

  • In "Africa", Paich/Porcaro presents a de-singularized postcolonial belief system. Kilimanjaro is not visible from the Serengeti, an irony not lost on firestarters eager to destroy traditional paradigms ("solitary company" is another blistering oxymoron). The librarian, bosom restrained by acrylic (ie Nigerian petroleum), here represents an "othered" feminine, unable to halt the subsumation of the occidental knowledge center in a flood (read: orgasm) of matriarchal tribal dichotomies. Discuss.

  • @arigoldfilms

Yo man thats one sweaty negro at 3:09, the sweat from the spear sprays on the wall man!

  • @arigoldfilms - I think you are mistaken about Kilimanjaro not being visible from the Serengeti. Its official height is 19340 ft.

  • @arigoldfilms Who really cares?

  • @arigoldfilms BELLEND

  • @arigoldfilms I also want what you're smoking

  • @arigoldfilms call me what you will but can you simplify this are you trying to reach the masses or speak only to a few

  • @arigoldfilms The real question is whether you're being serious, or posting a parody of po-mo literary theory...

  • @arigoldfilms Its just a song that ppl like to listen to without reading your rubbish,so get a bloody life will ya

  • @arigoldfilms Shut up, shut up, shut up forever. Take your worthless poststructuralist garbage elsewhere. You fucking people are what's ruining America's colleges. Knowing a bunch of big words doesn't make you intelligent, asshole. It just shows you for the pretentious twat you are. We do not need your deliberately opaque lectures, we need people who actually know what they're talking about.

    GO AWAY.

  • @loqutor

    I'll second that, fuck off.

It's cunts like that that drive intelligent people out of academia.

  • @arigoldfilms the bovine fecal matter in your comment is sumptuous and profuse.

  • @brihug

Not only is that an insult to anyone with an iota of intelligence but I'm led to believe that it's elaborate spam. If this Ari Gold cunt is who I think it is he had a really stupid film do well on the festival circuit that all of my sad middle aged friends are going to claim brilliant because it has a few songs from our childhood when it isn't.

  • @arigoldfilms WTF?!

  • @arigoldfilms You should become a politician. You can talk out of your ass and it sounds like gold.

  • @arigoldfilms wow. Is this Coffee Talk w Linda Richman
