It's called "Novalith Cannon". It sends a nuclear warhead called the "Novalith Warhead" at a planet across solar systems and does and average damage of 3500 points to a planets infrastructure. One shot can wipe out and asteroid (even if the planetary health is upgraded to the Max) 2 shots can while out fully upgraded Terran, Volcanic, Ice and Dessert planets. 2 shots can also destroy a pirate base, so that means you don't have to send your fleet there to destroy it. That SoaSE info for you.
@CocaColaO07 If you had a lot that's fine, I have an entire system of Novaliths. The point is don't fabricate your information here, because everyone who cares to watch these vids are SOASE veterans X-D
@bigbengamer I am no veteran, ive never won a game nor have i played multiplayer cus im too scared to get laughed at cus of how much i would probably suck.
@CocaColaO07 How the hell did you manage to get two Novalith cannons in each planet's orbit? There aren't enough tactical slots for each planet, and the chances of having every planet with a weapons test facility(albeit pointless, as you still don't get enough slots) is highly improbable.
@JOHNFIRE2 The cannon doesn't use phase space. It fires directly at its target. Ships can travel between systems more quickly, but they still have to "run the bases" in order to get to a particular planet.
@thewilliamgregg in the larger games it can take literally tens of hours if not longer to finish a single game... clear out your next 2 weeks before you start a large game lol
@XenoAlbedo tec has the big nuke cannon vasari the shockwave gun that shuts down planet structure for a short time and the advent have a big broadcast beam that make the enemy civilians switch sides for a short time causing trouble back home for the enemy
But seriously, it would take several million billion billion billion billion billion lightyears to go from one galaxy to another, which translates from distance to time into never.
actually, you mean the Distance is XX lightyears... and even from a star to another it should take a handful of years... Because and in Scifi we have FTL drive, warpdrive, ou similar, so if it takes 30min to reach a neighbor star, time to the nearest galaxy shouldnt be more then a few years
dude i made 8 of those in a skirmish match once....they blew up every damn planet in a 6+ galaxy match.....it was fun......just seeing those constant nukes going around killing everyone....and oh yeah the explosion reminded me somewhat of chuck noris when he sneezed once....lol!
wat someone needs to do is make some new textures for planets, each planet has about two textures and while there less noticalble on lifeless planets it really ruins the terran worlds for me as both terran textures have two continets which look roughly the same and is 80% water, add a little spice! like a Pangea or an arcipilago or why not try 80% land or something...c'mon Stardock, (and all you pro modders out there!)
Your annotation says it's supposed to be solar system, not galaxy? No. There is only one solar system, and we live in it. It's from one star system to another.
@Naobi891 In my opinion, not fast enough, it could've just used a phase drive all the way there, and when it reaches within 1 planet distance, it exits phase space into normal space. Boem.
it wasn't as pretty as you when I launched TWO of them at the same time. I pretty much fucked the planet without any ships being there. IN the end my vast fleet put theirs downs and i controlled all three former pirate bases and 2 systems worth of planets.
once you have the cannon its the same...because you has done all the researchs in the list (military researchs) and i guess that you hace a lot of money and minerals and a great army,i do not use it because i like destroy planets, hehehe
WHOA that was a long time to get there lol. didnt know you could go from star system to start system like that. I hate how much time it takes to make good money though >:P
:P I love using the nukes lol, shame that they dont do as much damage as i hoped, considering the massive explosion and epic amount of time i had to wait for it go from my star system to my enemies =(
ahhaha thats awesome...dam i bought sins so long ago..even before when it went retail...when it was only a download buy...i played it for weeks ..then i just let it go...seems that i might have to start playing it again..
Ah, you were right. They CAN go between star systems, and it does take about 20 or thirty minutes. I found out by testing it, going AFK for about that long, coming back to an explosion on a planet I had since colonized, ect :O
I'm relatively sure that you can't fire between galaxies. At least not in any of the patched versions. And not in the unpatched version I bought from the store :)

Nuke: Whee Fleet: Frigates down, they're heading for us! Nuke: Whee Fleet: Shield down! Nuke: Whee Fleet: Heavy damage! Help, anyone! BWOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!
That is the beuaty fo Sins of a Solar Empire. The distances are so vasts It takes along time to plan moves. Good thing they put in allot of auto-pilot tools and ques so you don't have to micro Manage. When I play games with friends that last weeks we just que up a move then go about our lives even work. At least with entrenchment you can't do a full sweep of a system when you decide to take a random sick day.
Yeah that's what I was saying, although the designers made it confusing by making them look like galaxies when you zoom out. Also the fact that the planets don't move is also kind of a point against thinking they are star systems, as well as the fact that the position of the planet in the system is irrelevant to how nice the climate is.
Haha that was awesome. I fired three out of my five off in my current game against 2 AI in a 7 solar system galaxy. Took about 15 minutes to reach it because they were close, but still awesome.
Wow I had no idea you could fire those from one star to another (I think those are star systems not galaxies, because they all have a star in the center, and the game literature says they are star systems... even though the planets don't move... an they are shaped like galaxies when you zoom out)...
Thats the only fault I find with the terrain editor. The planets are stationary around their star. IT would be cool if they orbit one another though that might play havoc with the phase jump lanes. Even if it is a slow orbit around the star.
Well the way I rationalized is was by assuming that the view you see is just a military display of the star system and the phase lanes always take the same amount of time to traverse regardless of how far the start and end planets are from each other. And phase-jumping is always easier than traveling at normal speed, so the location of the planet in it's orbit is always irrelevant when it comes to what the fastest route to the planet is. But that is just the way I deal with it lol.
Thats one way to look at it. But I do like the fact they put emphsis on how vast space is. That alone is a tough obstical to overcome and the game dose a good job at displaying that. Just one thing allot of people forget that everything in space is moving, if no at a slow rate, well slow compared to the distance that is being traveled.
I don't know if you've ever read "The Lost Fleet" books by Jack Cambell, but the combat described in those books is really similar to Sins, but the scale is different, in Cambell's books the battles occur over an entire system (think of the planets in sins but if that battlespace included a star and all its planets (they're still tactical battles not strategic)) and the "phase lanes" just went between stars. I think they could have done it that way. (In the LF books shots/ships go real fast :-P)
Yeah I can imagine. I understand why they did that is to simplify the game mechanics. Heck even a single star system is so vast it takes light from the sun 8 minuets to reach us and hours to reach beyond pluto. I can imagine nothing less than a yield of a nuke bomb being used in battle and against ships 4 or five times the size of carriers which is nothing more than a few city blocks nothing lasting a direct hit from a weapon.
I blow waaaay too much time on 4x games lol. I think Sins is great, I also feel it could have used a bit more diplomacy options though. And maybe a few more things to make the opponents seem like they are alive. I think they were a bit too sparse with cut scenes and other goodies. It almost feels like you're just playing a really big RTS sometimes.
Yeah I totally. Here's to hoping the second mini-expansion really beefs up the diplomacy and trading economy, which is what I think Ironclad is promising.
Yeah it was getting really anoying getting along with everyone but not having them do anything for me. I wish If say I got 100% diplomacy to give them a few missions to work for me instead.
As for cutsceens It would be nice if there were a few at all Cut sceenes in SINS is non-existence except for the starting page which tries to lay out some sort of backstory which has no affect on gameplay. I know they ment for it to be freeform story but A small Campaign wouldn't hurt.
Yeah, I can understand the lack of cutscenes in a 4X game, but the barely existent backstory is pretty lame. I mean they bothered to make three distinct factions, why not do stuff during the game to flesh out who they are other than giving them different ships and tech?
There is a downloadable mod from sins website under mods that speeds the super weapon shots up significantly. That shot may have only taken 5-10 mins to get there with the mod. Maybe even less, i forget
The initial explosion is great when the nuke hits the planet but then the smoke ball that rises up doesn't look any good and makes no sense in terms of physics.
i am playing whit the vasari race and i can`t made mor capital ship`s i have crystal and mineral and money the need onther requirement directed reproduction & captive suppliers. please you can helpme
You should be able to research that in the science menu. Go to the tab that has the military insignia and research both an increase in your fleet capacity and in the number of capital ships you can use, that should do the trick.
go to the research menu and flight logistics i think that menu is just above the relic menu and upgrade the 2 stuff there ibut u can make about 18 i think

Marinealver 2 years ago
Yeah, I can understand the lack of cutscenes in a 4X game, but the barely existent backstory is pretty lame. I mean they bothered to make three distinct factions, why not do stuff during the game to flesh out who they are other than giving them different ships and tech?

These things happen in campaign mode. They didn't make a campaign for Sins. Only skirmishes.
It's a low budget project.

A low budget project that made them a shit ton of cash.

Hehehe... Value for your bucks. It's an amazingly great game. It simply looks so good.
Quake 3 also didn't have a campaign. Maybe Sins of a Solar Empire II will have one. Or they could make an expansion with a storyline.

I hope later this game will have an update that will add a campaign mode

If you brought the game second hand, the previous owner may have already used the code.

There is a downloadable mod from sins website under mods that speeds the super weapon shots up significantly. That shot may have only taken 5-10 mins to get there with the mod. Maybe even less, i forget

2. upgrade missile weapons as TEC
3. civilian research, look at the tree
4. you have to have a pretty good economy to fund the R&D of the cannon, and then to actually build one
how large of a game was that if it took 30 minutes to reach the target planet?

holy moly after all ^^ i gave a shit about the vid (sry tomme25) .. am down with the music ! :P makes me chill so damn hard xD

The initial explosion is great when the nuke hits the planet but then the smoke ball that rises up doesn't look any good and makes no sense in terms of physics.
Thanks for the vid.

wolfliquid 3 years ago
You should be able to research that in the science menu. Go to the tab that has the military insignia and research both an increase in your fleet capacity and in the number of capital ships you can use, that should do the trick.

The citizens of that world could never have seen the attack coming from so far away. They must have been like "WTF? Noes!!!" and them been atomised.
