  • I've checked out a few of your vids-Great playing bud. IMHO utilize backing tracks if you don't already, I want to hear more you dude.

  • @gladdingman Thanks, I think I've got it all under control.

  • Good job, I need to redo my video of this solo, I played it pretty sloppy, getting better with practice. So I have to ask if you do not like to use the vibrato bar? I think it's a pretty important component to the Gilmour sound especially on solos.

  • @HereticWarfare I hate vibrato bars. And yes, it's an integral part of Gilmour's sound...which is why I don't play very many Floyd songs.

  • @privettricker Gotcha, was just wondering, I guess they are not for everyone! Clapton goes so far as to just block his tremolo system on his Strat haha

Still though, great job! Love playing this solo, next one I am tackling is Money, which is slow going haha, plus I have no 22nd fret. Will be interesting.

  • Best Floyd song ever!

  • Great job! @ what age did you start playing, if you don't mind telling? Also, are you able to execute those Gilmore bends using 10s or do you use 9s? I hate to have to set my string height up 2 be able to bend under the next string. I don't have trouble, really, except with the high E. It's strange that this string seems to have more tension on it than the B or G strings. Do you've any opinion on strings, or the graduated-tension strings promoted by the guy from Zachery guitars? Tips on bending?

  • @AVEIL Started playing when I was 14. These are probably 10s, certainly not lower than that. I think Strats kind of need thicker strings or they sound way too thin. My only tip on bending is to practice. Find out what's most comfortable to you, e.g., bending with 1 finger or 2 or even 3.

  • Excellent!

    (Over tented fingers.)

  • very good

  • I like to play your guitar, and great songs. ( love u K )

  • Wow. I'm not worthy. You nailed it dude.

As an aside - that's probably the best guitar solo EVER to listen to while in an altered state of consciousness (if you get my drift).

  • Damn pt, your tone is damn close to Dave's. (He used a Hiwatt)

  • Cool, but what are those framed notes on the wall?

  • black napkins by frank zappa?

  • As soon as my Strat comes, this will be the first thing i play!

  • I am blown away...

  • Great, dead on.

  • pt whats the chord progression behind the solo?

  • @angela21215 F#m to A to E repeats a few times, then the slower part is D to A to D to A to D to C#m to B to E. I think!

  • 0:51 and 0:59 are my favorite notes, flawless, nice work as always!

  • Do your neighbors ever complain?

  • @jblackmets111 Only when I sunbathe nude in the yard.

  • I've just come back from the future through a worm hole portal to let you know that in about 20 years time a band called Pink Floyd will write a great song called Time and about 39 years after that a dude called privettricker will partially cover that track. That's all I can say right now as ..so..sor soz sor.sorry..may lose signal soon as ...about to enter dark side of the moon ..

  • @thepumpdontwork We wish you were here.

  • You magnificent bastard.

Last night I dreamed I could play guitar like that. I woke up and was sad when I realized I can't, and thirty years of effort has proven that I never will be able to play like that.

By the way, a sunburst strat with a maple neck is in the top ten of the coolest guitars ever made.

  • @MrDorkusMaximus Just try breaking this one down into sections and learn them one at a time rather than trying to nail the whole thing all the way through.

  • Excellent! More please, and longer!!! :)

  • yes, finally some floyd! excellent job as always.

  • suggestion for structured guitar solos: stray cat strut, you shook me all night long and the heat is on by stray cats,ac/dc and glenn frey

  • Well i'm learning C numb at the moment, i now know what' s next Cheers!!

  • You've taught me more guitar than anyone else on this planet. Over a thousand high quality no-fluff videos.... You deserve some kind of award.

  • bravo bravo, you continue to impress me sir

  • Very nice!

  • Never has a solo had so few notes but said so much...brilliant.

  • @TroubadourJuggernaut Well...there's also Neil Young. :)

  • Did you use any kinda pedal for this solo? If so what kind? If not, what amp settings did you use?

  • @vikingchris22 No pedals. To be honest, I don't really pay much attention to amp settings. I recall I turned the bass on the amp down to near zero and pumped up the reverb to about 7.

  • Great job, as usual! (PS: How about a lesson on "Station Man" by a pre-Stevie Nicks Fleetwood Mac? Please?)

  • Great job! Always a favorite with me.Such smooth transitions. Thanks!

  • Please do more Pink Floyd, and solos as well! Request: Pink Floyd - Young Lust :)

  • Hey, love your videos so far but I have one request. Carry On Wayward Son - Kansas (Rhythm is fine, I don't need to know the solo's)

  • Thank you so much for doing this! This is my favorite Pink Floyd song and second favorite solo of theirs =)

  • Fantastic! Thank you for sharing your incredible talent!!

  • awesome

  • Excellent!!!

  • MORE PINK FLOYD! Vote Up for YES!

  • Well done! Awesome tone!

  • Very well done. As always

  • Fantastic!

  • THANK YOU!! I could see also you were having difficulties following exactly what David was doing but hey, that was the best cover ive seen so far! Makes you wonder how David could actually make a solo that beautiful and do it with ease!

  • Awesome!

  • big like

  • Shine on PT you crazy diamond!

  • Aqualung is like that, too, though supposedly off the cuff.

  • Please Money's solo!!

  • Here's my list of Pink Floyd songs I'd love to hear...AND see you play, because watching you is half the fun: Astronomy Domine, Lucifer Sam, Corporal Clegg, Cymbaline, Green Is The Colour, The Narrow Way Part I, Echoes, Obscured by Clouds, When You're In, The Gold It's In The, Childhood's End, Stay. As always, thank you for teaching and inspiring me, and everybody!

  • The best most deliberate solo ever! Every single note counts! This was the first guitar solo that I really loved. Like an arrow that pierced through to my soul. You do it justice, good sir! Nice use of vibrato!

  • Have a Cigar Solo? Pretty please?

  • amazing, wonderful! pt when you can please amaze us with more guitar solos with beginning, middle and end.

  • Excellent

  • Brilliant and thanks for paying tribute to my favourite guitarist. Every one of his solos tells a story with just notes and phrases and you re-told it perfectly.

  • One of my guitar heroes David Gilmour. Always loved this solo. Up there with Young Lust of The Wall for me. Although I could cry with joy every time I hear the solo at the end of Another Brick in the Wall. Is there anybody out there?

  • suprised you did this.you usually its 'too long for my taste"

  • @ryler99 It's better constructed than most long solos. This one has a beginning, a middle, and an end.

  • @privettricker either way you absolutely NAILED the tone.i mean right on the dot man...

  • @privettricker i love long guitar solos.....

  • I feel like this song encapsulates what Pink Floyd is for me.

  • Alright!

  • Great job!

I like this solo more than the Comfortably Numb solo. Although I do like that one too.

  • so awesome

  • orgasmic :-)

  • spot on as usual. sweet.

  • AAHHHHH!! That was awesome! One of my fave Pink Floyd tunes! I've been trying to learn Wish Your Were Here.

  • @leather629 I'll see if I can bang that one out. I'm too lazy to memorize the outro guitar solo, though.

  • Nice!

  • great cover
