@kermitjadz If a dog is really aggressive he will just bite you in your leg or whatever he can bite in, this is just playing and some dogs are playing harder then others, this dog still listens to commands so you've trained him good :)
@bigBrude41 He gets two 45 minute steady walks a day! And he's not dominant at all... he just likes to play... and I prefer him like this... because he's having fun!

@bigBrude41 Nope, never had food aggression! You can take the food bowl away while he's eating (he'll just sit there with a puppy face). He's not all that protective, if I'm play fighting with someone then he'll bark and play around... but he knows its just messing around. He's not physically aggressive towards anything, but will bark if he sees a cat in the garden... or the postman!

what is difficult to train rocky not to run away when off a leash outside? I am thinking about getting a boxer and i've heard that boxers tend to run away and not come back. Any recommendations ?

Other boxers I know are a little crazy sometimes, but if you start by only letting them off in a large but enclosed area, and work on your recall then I don't think it will take long to train him (no risk of the dog running away). If you appear more interesting than whatever else they may be running to, then they'll chose you!

I have taught my boy, Porter to do the same thing. I only use a leash on him when we go into town... where there are leash laws. Other wise he's by my side at all times since he was 6 weeks old! Our Porter is 7 mo. old and is nearly completely verbally trained with the addition of hand signals. Rocky is a handsom boy!!! GOOD work!

I have trained a few dogs to do this, and its very dependant upon the dog (especially if he's already 3 and has formed his habits and guidelines). I would say to start with a retractable lead and randomly call him back to you. When he obeys then you give him a treat and if he doesn't listen then you can put him on a short lead for punishment. Remember they word associate so if you use the command "come" then stick to it.
If this all goes according to plan then you can try it without the lead.

our boxer went crazy over the girls when they flipped their 4wheeler. he kept getting infront of them and wouldnt let them ride anymore. he was biting he tires
my old man had these thick leather gloves for welfing and I got my boxer used to putting on gloves=play-fight time.. man had some awesome times, best dog ever.

my old man had these thick leather gloves for welfing and I got my boxer used to putting on gloves=play-fight time.. man had some awesome times, best dog ever.

I have a 3 year old boxer named Oscar that acts exactly like this one. I also have 2 others, its amazing how they all do the same things. They are such a coo breed of dog, i love them!

OMG. My Boxer just watched this, cocked his head to the side, then ran around barking like a mad man. First time I could get him to "watch" the laptop (he watches TV all the time....) Thanks!
