Im enjoying the coop , much to my surprise...its actually filling a niche that no military shooter has done yet ..which is large scale confilcts with co op play ....it shouldve just been called red river..and billed as a combat military coop shooter.

I think the weather tech from Dirt 2 they implemented here looks pretty good, nevertheless, this game's off to a bad start. I hate to resort to a cliche here but "Never fix what ain't broken" and something more apt in this case..."Don't bite off more than you can chew"...oh well...
@WolfhoundMercenary I was correcting his spelling, douche bag. I have actually played red river now and it's a good game, all the stupid assists get disabled on hardcore. Random IED strikes and varying insurgent spawns make for a far better experience than dragon rising.
@WolfhoundMercenary Agreed, as a successor it is dumbed down in terms of what you can do, however if you would cast your mind back to what you could do in OFDR... The flying physics were terrible and you only got to really fly on one mission, uphill struggle, the driving physics were even worse as were the shooting mechanics. The weapon customisation that red river brings is completely amazing, I much prefer it to DR.
Hope it gets me through til Battlefield 3, Skyrim and Rage later this year, once those games start dropping i could give a fuck about anything else...!
Dear Sion Lenton, I will be buying this game as soon as I build my midrange gaming PC this May 2011. It would be nice if this tutorial is included in the game. Nice to know that your AI team mates will find cover first before suppressing the enemy, in dragon rising, AI team mates will fire at will, even without cover after issuing orders.
@Androgenies If you want a realistic game, play Arma 2 don't bother with this, not sure if your mid range gaming PC can take it, but try and oompf it up for Arma 2, that is the real tactical experience

The publisher generally retains IP rights to the name and franchise. They're just riding the coat tails of the original game hoping to confuse people into thinking it's something it isn't.

@LilATL94 You realise Arma 2 is pretty unheard of and actually only succesful cos its production values and budget is pretty low. Its a pretty niche game, not saying its bad, im just saying it hasnt got the power to overthrow any major shooters.

@Jacko459 I know it's un-popular but by observing all these posts. All of these friggin kids go with the overrated shit which are crap in my opinion.
From my perspective, I wished kids would go with the real shit instead of being pure dumbasses and not knowing about the reality of combat and war along with the specifications of weaponry, vehicles and Special Operations Forces.
You can tell, I'm pretty mad about those kids whenever they think of war, they think of Call of duty or new age of BF

@LilATL94 True, kids should know wars not an action movie, but I do know this, coming from a long line of family members in the Military and planning to join myself, and I really think this game looks realistic enough for consoles at least to keep me and many people looking for a real experience happy.

its actually not a bad little game.. I just dont think it should have the name "operation flashpoint".
Im enjoying the coop , much to my surprise...its actually filling a niche that no military shooter has done yet ..which is large scale confilcts with co op play ....it shouldve just been called red river..and billed as a combat military coop shooter.
as it has nothing to do with operation flashpoints sandbox free form play.

I think the weather tech from Dirt 2 they implemented here looks pretty good, nevertheless, this game's off to a bad start. I hate to resort to a cliche here but "Never fix what ain't broken" and something more apt in this case..."Don't bite off more than you can chew"...oh well...

@WolfhoundMercenary I was correcting his spelling, douche bag. I have actually played red river now and it's a good game, all the stupid assists get disabled on hardcore. Random IED strikes and varying insurgent spawns make for a far better experience than dragon rising.

Still, it's a crappy OFP1 sucessor. A very dumbed down sucessor. Nothing douchy about seeing things the way they are.
And like I said, the amount of cheesball in this game makes it even worse. Why do the Marines talk like they have the Waffen SS ROE?

@WolfhoundMercenary Agreed, as a successor it is dumbed down in terms of what you can do, however if you would cast your mind back to what you could do in OFDR... The flying physics were terrible and you only got to really fly on one mission, uphill struggle, the driving physics were even worse as were the shooting mechanics. The weapon customisation that red river brings is completely amazing, I much prefer it to DR.

Dear Sion Lenton, I will be buying this game as soon as I build my midrange gaming PC this May 2011. It would be nice if this tutorial is included in the game. Nice to know that your AI team mates will find cover first before suppressing the enemy, in dragon rising, AI team mates will fire at will, even without cover after issuing orders.

@Androgenies If you want a realistic game, play Arma 2 don't bother with this, not sure if your mid range gaming PC can take it, but try and oompf it up for Arma 2, that is the real tactical experience

The publisher generally retains IP rights to the name and franchise. They're just riding the coat tails of the original game hoping to confuse people into thinking it's something it isn't.

Got it yesterday, I just love it. Fireteam engagements are a lot of fun to play, Rolling Thunder and Last Stand are my favourites at the moment.
And don't worry, it's as hard as the Dragon Rising was.
First few missions of campaign is just protecting convoy from point A to B. A lot of close combat fights in villages.
I just hope that Codemaster releases more maps to Fireteam Engagements, there are only two maps for each modes...
