I swear, this is the hardest battle in the entire series if you don't know what you're doing. I remember getting pwned so badly when I first got the game.

Ah, the memories. I was a noob at Pokemon, and had no idea what type advantages/disadvantages were, and as a result, Brock was impossible for me to beat, because the only move that had any real effect was Quick Attack, which wasn't very effective.

Good thing I've got the same Pokemon as you do at this point. I think I'm going to use this same strategy for him. ^^ Brock was always tough for me due to his type advantages.

@theluigifan200 actually it starts using it, and then any damage it takes while charging is doubled and sent back to the opponent, so if you don't attack it at all then it can't hurt you at all, thats why its good to take advantage of it and just use leer, tail whip, etc.

@HeavensDrills I don't think you can get a mankey that early in yellow. I'm not POSITIVE though, since I didn't go through yellow myself. I know you can in Leafgreen, so Brock was a joke lol.

i caught a wild pidgeotto, trained it to level 15 then used quick attack untill it died. geodude was dead and half of onix was gone, then i summoned lvl 13 pikachu and used quick attack and pwned him :)

i used nidoran to make geodude faint, then used pidgey's sand attack till it didn't work anymore, then used pikachus tail whip until that didn't work anymore, then pummeled onix with nidoran's double kick.

This is how I defeated Brock:

I used Pikachu and attacked his Geodude and Onix with Quick Attack. No Tail Whip. Just Quick Attack. It took many tries but eventually it worked.

Just spam leer then horn attack it to death. just bring some potions or get a pidgey to spam sand attack.

everyone is clueless lmao, the best way to beat brock with minimal training is to get a level 20 pikachu, it'll learn slam at that level, which will one hit all of brocks pokemon....or....you can walk through the viridian forest until you run into the level 9 pidgeotto....it's rare to run into but it'll help alot....training all your pokemon is more training than getting a level 20 pikachu

this is how i beat brock (which just Pikachu).

train Pikachu to level 15 so he learns Double Team. then fight Brock and use Double Team over and over again so that Brock keeps missing you. Then use Tail Whip to lower Geodudes defences and use Quick Attack to beat him. Then keep using Tail Whip on Onix then use Quick Attack. You will easily beat Brock with Pikachu since when your Evade is maxed out Brock will hardly ever hit you.

I love the boss music. I've just got an emulator for my PC so I can play this in colour, even though I can still play my old one without colour ^^. Games are best simple, and this game still isn't that simple but the gameplay kicks ass. I've abandoned CoD WaW to play this =D

@popamon451 lol...all my pokemon fainted, but pikachu when i fought onix. so i had to use pickachu. Only quick attack worked on onix so i used it over 50 times to kill onix. i used all my 5 potions on pikachu so he didn't faint. At least i got my boulder badge! LOL
