I wouldn't call these "delicacies" anymore now than who knows how far back. It's really common now to see all those items in markets and asian restaurants. First of all, chicken feet should be served with strong sauces or cooked in a thick stew in the first place, not only cooked in water. Second, stir fried/marinated duck tongue tastes actually pretty good and it's not really that disgusting at all. Third, you just don't eat fermented tofu in chunks like that, nobody would do that in China. It's like a dipping or sauce that can be served with almost any light main dish and it balances the strong flavor/odor. It fits perfectly with porridge.

@hengjovi Well ducks tounge is really not bad. A bit chewy but tastes quite nice. Fermented Tofu is actually eaten like that. Most of the fermented tofu is eaten deepfried or in a chilli-soup, but some people like to eat it raw. Deep-fried or in soup it still has a horrible smell but it is edible :D Thrust me i tried it ;)

Far too often I see people prejudgemental about Chinese culture and it's cuisine. Admittedly, there is often a lot of 'weird' foods that Chinese people eat, but it's an acquired taste as many people have rightfully pointed out. Fermented Tofu is not meant to be eaten as a dish, rather, it's supposed to be used as a sort of 'condiment', or ingredient in other dishes.

It's shameful to see how disrespectful some of the westerners are of Chinese food. Ask yourself: What's really in processed food?

I find this ridiculously hilarious from my cultural point of view - I grew up in Scarborough (part of Toronto in Canada) where there are lots of Chinese restaurants, so I frequently have chickens' feet and fish eyeballs, and fermented tofu is pretty popular (but an acquired taste).
