i followed this all the way to the end. the problem is that i have ubuntu server installed on a server with no GUI capability. I am trying to run install.php from a local network computer. I have tried putting its IP address instead of localhost in wordpress config but i always get an error 500 internal server error. I can access the other parts of the site over the local network fine. Any ideas?
Question: Everything installs fine. I can post and all, but there's issues with updating plugins and themes. It requires FTP which doesn't seem to work. I've been searching the internet for weeks trying to find a solution to this but nothing has worked. Since I initially used this tutorial to set up the server, I figured I'd ask if you can help out there. Setting up vsftpd to allow wordpress to update. Any help would be appreciated.
great tutorial...i`ve just done the same and it works fine, but i have a network, and when i try to view the content of my page on another computer, the content is somehow blocked (only text)...so is it something to do with firewall, iptables, ports..etc? thanks
You are such a magnificent instructor! Simple, clear and concise! Through this video tutorial, I've managed to set up Wordpress in my Ubuntu 10.04 and its running now. Thank you very, very much!
