Just had this performed Wed 2/8 at 1330 PST. Right now 2/9 at 1224, I feel no pain in the historically painful area L glute, thigh, calf and top of foot. Little bit of pain 2/10 at the sight of the injection. This is the first procedure I have had of this type. I have had office visits providing a steroid injection from the same Physical Medicine dr. and I have had favorable results. The surgeon yesterday said that all went well and he would expect that I have better reslts. Well wishes.
This treatment is not approved by the FDA. There are no steroid suspensions that are. One commonly used steroid is called Depo-Medrol. It is also not approved by the FDA for this use due to the large number of severe adverse events reported to the FDA's Med-Watch division. Your "consent form” may not include all the facts. Depo-Medrol steroids are "not recommended" by the drug maker either, Pharmacia/Upjohn-Pfizer because the risks do out weigh the benefits. Consider yourself WARNED!
I had this done today with conscious sedation. I live in Tennessee and am so glad that I didn't feel a thing. Tonight I'm feeling pain as explained I probably would. Hoping this works! So sorry for the person in Kentucky who had it don wide awake. I have had spinal taps when I had meningitis as a teenager and I remember it as horrible pain.
I have had the pleasure of meeting Dr.Kaul, and I must say I am extremely impressed by him. He will be doing a cardio thoracic nerve block on me, one which takes great skill and experience , and I have no doubt that he is going to do a phenomenal job. I cannot thank him enough for taking my case and being so polite and responding to any question I have. The world woul;d definately be a much better place if there were more physician cared for their patients as Dr,Kaul does.
I just had my transforaminal epidural steroid injections for the first time. They were easier than I thought they would be. Today, my back pain is completely gone. I've had back pain for several years and may need follow up injections. But for now, I feel great! Thanks Dr. Kaul and NJSR!
It is not safe. Tell him to bend over first.... this is very dangerous and non effective.

He is NOT telling you the full story about this treatment. It is not FDA approved.
