The buzz is an engine swap during the rebuild...to be announced later. They are investigating a failure in the 3-blade propeller unit as the cause of the crash. The workshop doing the rebuild does impressive work.
I haven't heard anything discussed since it was fished out of the water. What was said was that the crash was caused by a failure in the 3-blade prop hub, which leads me to speculate if FlugWerk will cover part of the rebuild or just insurance? The rebuild costs may be more than just purchasing another replica. The impact damage was minimal, but saltwater in an aircraft is bad. Other saltwater-crashed planes are flying again after rebuilding, so there's a good chance for a rebuild.
Shame about the fucking music with the engine start. The engine is music in it's own right so adding some shitty assed sounds too it is massive overkill & real shame.

I seriously want to slap the owner(s) of this aircraft.
For one, they put an A-2 scheme on an A-8 airframe (this is akin to painting a P-51B with a Korea-era F-51H scheme). Two, that scheme is poorly-executed (the eagle head is much smaller and therefore doesn't cut off at the base). Three, they got the RLM colour values all wrong. And last, they couldn't even wait for the right engine.
I'll give them a pass on the paint scheme since it's better than some of the other FlugWerk examples out there. As far as the engine choice, usable BMWs are very hard to find, and this new-build aircraft was designed to use the ASh-82 engine from the very beginning. The oil coolers are placed in the cowl gun area with adjustable airflow. To install an original BMW, you'd have to rebuild nearly everything from the firewall forward.
It's not 18 cylinders and it's not a BMW. It's an ASh-82 14-cylinder engine as a replacement. The BMW was a 14-cylinder motor as well and none are presently flying, but will soon. The 14-cylinder sounds more like the R-2600 found in B-25s, with a rougher sound.

Hurray the P-51's are about 15 kilometers out they are coming for you in such numbers that will make your head swim, they are manned by hot dogs looking for a kill absolute and complete with out hesitation or remorse they will hunt you down. Then you will be but a ensignia on the fuselage.

It's great to see one of these fine fighters restored to flight ready. Too bad nobody did this for the wonderful Do-335 Pfiel. Although I've seen ONE restored as a static museum display.
