  • what song is this?

  • a great job. I'm not sure if you were originally a kathak dancer or coming from ballet, but your elbows are a little soft for Barathanatyam. Keep that in mind, but very good musicality.

  • @eastexotic his softer elbows make it more poetic than the square tradition

this is just a very subtle add of his western roots and it makes the dance richer (in mu opinion)

  • @Kapojos

I'm sorry but there isn't any room for interpretation in Barathanatyam, it's a classical dance form, much like there isn't much room in classical ballet for interpretation. If one changes the posture or structure, it's something else, fusion, moderne etc..

honestly i don't think it was his intention anyway, i've seen more recent videos and the soft elbows are history.

  • @eastexotic I like the faults that are in the dance, especially when they are adding quality to the dance.

being perfectly classical is useless, unless someone knows how to use it and in this way creates art and new beauty.

when I watch a dancer who dances perfectly classical Im impressed and i like it, but i will always consider it only as a beginning form, a result of thousands of years tradition and culture. its a treasure to create new things from

  • Great stuff :)
